Daniel Negreanu Profited $1.6m in Poker Tournaments in 2022

Daniel Negreanu victory photo after Super High Roller Bowl

$3.2m in total buy-ins

Throughout his poker career, Daniel Negreanu has been one of the more transparent players around, rarely shy about letting his feelings be known about any number of subjects. That transparency has extended to his annual tournament results, as at the close of each year, he posts his final financial figures. The Poker Hall of Famer continued the tradition this week, revealing that he profited $1,625,545 in 2022.

Across 107 events, Negreanu bought in for a total of $3,224,564, or a $30,136 average buy-in. He did clarify for one of his Twitter followers that “events” means individual tournaments, not entries – he does not have a record of how many re-entries he had, how many times he re-bought into a tournament. Thus, while he clearly focused on higher buy-in events, the average advertised buy-in of the events in which he played is lower than his average.

Negreanu scored cashes of $4,875,609 in total, hence his final profit figure. He also clarified in a follow-up tweet that these numbers only take into account the actual tournament results and do not factor in expenses, taxes, swaps with other players, or selling of any action.

Super High Roller Bowl win was key

The tournament that took Negreanu over the top was the $300,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) this fall, which he won for $3,312,000. And while that was by far his largest cash of the year, it wasn’t his only 2022 highlight.

Daniel Negreanu had success on the PokerGO Tour, in particular, which included the SHRB. Early in the year, he had multiple six-figure cashes on the Tour, including two in the PokerGO Cup ($350,000 and $112,000) and one at the Wynn High Rollers ($216,000).

In 2021, Negreanu won an event in the PokerGO Cup for his first open tournament victory since 2013. It was an almost incomprehensible dry spell for someone with over $43m in tournament earnings to that point. He now has just shy of $50m in winnings.

Negreanu also finished out the year with a couple nice cashes (let’s be honest, for most of us a cash of any amount is very nice – this is all relative). In November, he finished 4th in the €25,000 ($25,045) No-Limit Hold’em Platinum High Roller event at the World Series of Poker Europe for €146,370 ($146,090 at the time). And just a couple weeks ago, he finished 17th at the hugely successful WPT World Championship for $176,200.

You take the good, you take the bad….

While most people appreciate Daniel Negreanu’s openness with his tournament financial results, not everyone was ready to give him a standing ovation. Poker pro Allen Kessler, known as a tournament min-cash artist, replied: “But what do the results look like without the super high roller win?”

Negreanu quipped back: “So you want to just not count the one I won but count all the ones I didn’t? Is that how it’s done now? Lol”

illustrates how “volatile a year could be”

A couple other replies to Negreanu’s results post were similar to Kessler’s, but to his credit, Kessler did soften his perceived criticism, responding to Negreanu that the big $3m+ win just illustrates how “volatile a year could be.” He added an example from last year when Negreanu finished third in a $50,000 WSOP event, where a card or two might have made the difference of “Hundreds of thousands and a bracelet.”

Negreanu provided another example from the WPT World Championship, concluding: “In the end, it’s all part of it and over time if you play well you will end up on the right side of it.”

Fire Seizes Border Casino in Cambodia, Leaves At Least 16 Dead

Fire Seizes Border Casino in Cambodia, Leaves At Least 16 Dead

Local authorities rushed to the scene, attempting to put out the blaze at the Grand Diamond City Hotel and Casino in Poipet, with many people still reported missing. The fire broke out at 11:30 pm local time.

According to CNN, at least 58 more people are unaccounted for, and the death toll may rise. Rescue workers have been working round-the-clock to recover and assist any survivors in the past hours. Horrific scenes emerged on social media with people attempting to escape the fire by jumping out of windows.

Fiery Inferno Engulfs Entire Complex

At least two people died because of trying to avoid the flames by jumping out of a window. A total of 700 Thai citizens were saved over the past hours, media reports said. The fire was able to spread quickly due to poor weather conditions, including gusts of winds that spurred the fires, helping it engulf the entire building.

Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Sithi Loh said that a total of 300 police officers and 11 fire trucks have been dispatched to fight the fire. The property and its adjacent amenities collectively employ 400 workers. At least 50 people were trapped in the initial blaze as confirmed by multiple sources, but their status is still unknown.

Sources also told CNN that the fire may have started in one of the restaurants on the lower floors. Some guests and staffers tried to reach the roof, hoping that authorities could set up a crane to help them descend back to the ground. The total number of guests is still unknown although the rescue numbers continue to climb.

Emergency personnel from both Cambodia and Thailand is still said to be on the site of the fire with at least 360 people involved in the rescue.

PGCB Announced New QGE Process Offering 12 Certificates

PGCB Announced New QGE Process Offering 12 Certificates

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) announced this week a new period for Qualified Gaming Entities (QGEs) petitions to allow out-of-state online gaming operators to enter the market.

Standalone Online Casino and Poker Licenses

The QGE application process announced by the PGCB will run for two months from January 3, 2023, offering 12 certificates that, unlike regular iGaming licenses, will not be tied to a land-based casino in Pennsylvania.

The new offer is split equally between the online casino and online poker verticals while online sports betting is excluded. Of the six certificates available for online casino operators, three will authorize operators to offer slot games and three will be for table games operations. Each certificate will cost $4 million.

Currently, there are 18 online casinos in the state operating under 10 land-based casino licenses as the law does not limit the number of online casino skins per land-based operator but none of the iGaming operators has the degree of freedom to operate as a standalone QGE.

The new QGE application process is the second announced by the gaming regulator in the Keystone State following a similar process in 2018 when the PGCB offered 10 certificates – four for poker, three for slots and three for table games but received only two applications – from Golden Nugget and BetMGM.

First QGE Still Waiting to Receive Certificate

Golden Nugget was then approved for one of the certificates and duly paid the $8 million fee but has not received a certificate to date, while BetMGM partnered with both Hollywood Casino Penn National and Morgantown to ensure its presence across all online gaming verticals, including sports betting.

It is not clear how much interest the QGE certificates will receive this time but the regulator hinted about its plans to authorize up to 10 more online casinos in the next 12 months in its latest annual report.

In September, the board said that six online operators, Bally Bet, Fanatics, Fubo, PlayStar, Golden Nugget, and WynnBET, had started the licensure process with the PGCB, and hinted that other operators such as MaximBet and Betfred also had an interest in obtaining a license.

At that time all six applications were tied to a land-based casino but with the new QGE certificates up for grabs, some of them may decide to change their approach to obtaining authorization, though it is not clear how long it would take for the PGCB to complete the background investigation before issuing a QGE certificate.

World Cup Gambling Ads Fell by 34%, Prove Wrong Spike Warnings

World Cup Gambling Ads Fell by 34%, Prove Wrong Spike Warnings

TV gambling advertising in the UK during the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar fell by more than a quarter to the levels registered in the previous World Cup stated the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) in a press release.

The ‘Perfect Storm’ Did not Materialize

Based on new data excluding all Lottery advertisements, there were a total of 110 gambling ads on ITV during the World Cup games from the group stage, registering a decrease of 34% from the 167 ads aired on the channel during the previous World Cup.

“At the start of the World Cup, the usual suspects said we would see a “perfect storm” of problem gambling, sparked by waves of betting adverts,” said Michael Dugher, chief executive officer of the BGC, outlining that the new data proved these “warnings were yet again wrong.”

The decrease in the total number of gambling ads at this year’s tournament means that the average fell to 4.5 ads per live match from the group stages, while in 2018 there were 8.5 ads per live group match on average.

“The evidence shows that calls from prohibitionists to ban betting ads and sports sponsorship are not backed up by the evidence,” Dugher continued, pointing to the government’s acknowledgment that independent research failed to establish causality between the exposure to advertising and the development of problem gambling behaviors.

The BGC is convinced that the significant decrease in TV gambling ads is entirely down to the whistle-to-whistle ban its members voluntarily introduced in 2019, under which TV betting commercials cannot be aired from five minutes before a match kickoff until five minutes after a match ends, before the 9 pm watershed.

“Nevertheless, the reduction in betting ads is further proof of the continued commitment by BGC members to raising standards – while also promoting safer gambling tools like setting deposit limits and time-outs, and signposting help to those who need it,” Dugher added.

The effect of the voluntary whistle-to-whistle ban on gambling advertising was measured by a report last year which found that there was a 97% reduction in the number of such ads being seen by children at that time.

The Black Market Is the Real Issue

Dugher also used the occasion to once again turn the attention of the authorities to “the unsafe, unregulated black market online that pays no tax and makes no contribution to the economy or many of our much-loved sports,” in total contrast to the regulated market, which serves to support jobs, generate billions in tax money, direct and indirect economic gains, as well as millions for horse racing and sports.

On top of the measure aimed at protecting young people, members of the gambling industry body in the UK collaborated with the world’s biggest social media sites to introduce new age-gating rules that will prevent under 25s from seeing betting adverts for most of the sites, and pledge 20% of their TV and radio ads for safer gambling messages.

Top Stories of 2022, #2: Daniel Negreanu’s Rollercoaster Year

Top Stories of 2022, #2: Daniel Negreanu's Rollercoaster Year

With just shy of $50 million in live tournament earnings to his name and several decades of experience under his belt, GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu remains the most recognizable name and face in the poker world. His exploits on the felt keep audiences glued to screens all around the world.

Casting our minds back to last year, Negreanu captured several headlines from the poker media. At the beginning of 2021, he was on the losing side of his high-profile heads-up match against Doug Polk and was also whitewashed 3-0 by Phil Hellmuth on PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel.

Fortunes then began to sway in his direction as he ended his eight-year tournament hoodoo by winning the PokerGO Cup Event #7: $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em and then went on to be crowned the first-ever PokerGO Cup Champion after topping the series’ leaderboard.

Then at the 2021 World Series of Poker, which took place in the Fall, he put in a hallmark showing that included seven top-ten finishes, a third-place finish in the WSOP player of the year race as well as ending the series in the green.

And like 2021, fans of Kid Poker over the last twelve months have continued to be treated as the Canadian poker player has had another wild ride of a year. So, PokerNews, has constructed this ‘Year in Review’ piece to just show all the ups and downs that Negreanu has experienced in 2022.

Stellar Start to 2022

Daniel Negreanu

On the back of ending his tournament winless streak and an impressive 2021 WSOP, there were high expectations of a strong showing in February’s second edition of the PokerGO Cup. Yet, despite “building chip stacks and dominating the early levels,” Negreanu failed to cash in the first five events of the high roller festival and was left feeling done with the whole thing.

After a little pep talk from Jeff Platt, Negreanu hopped back into the saddle and took down Event #6: $25,000 NLH for a $350,000 first-place payout. He then netted himself another $112,000 following a fifth-place finish in the $50K PokerGO Cup finale.

While there was no repeat leaderboard win this time around, Negreanu’s display over the eight-event series placed him seventh in the overall leaderboard, and while he would’ve wanted to top it again, Kid Poker continued to show his name belonged alongside poker’s most elite players.

It’s mightily impressive when you think about it as it could be said for some of Negreanu’s former peers that poker has passed them by. Whereas, he has continually evolved his game to match today’s environment when it comes to No-Limit Texas Hold’em.

Negreanu continued to find success in the early months of the year. At the PGT Aria High Roller Series he cashed in two of the three events that were scheduled and then a few days later notched his second high-roller win of the year at the Wynn Millions festival for $216,000.

The busy start to his year carried on with the U.S. Poker Open (USPO). While Negreanu only cashed in two of the twelve events, he still boosted his winnings by $167,200 after a fourth and third-place finish in USPO Event #1: $10,000 NLH and USPO Event #4: $10,000 Big Bet Mix.

The conclusion of the USPO would be the last time Negreanu tangoed on the tournament felt, with his eyes then set on preparing for the 2022 WSOP.

And with his form from the high roller scene, there were a lot of reasons to be optimistic when looking ahead to the biggest poker series of the year. His Q1 results had added $928,450 to his live tournament earnings as well as notching a couple of victories under his belt, which is no easy feat when looking at the players he was up against.

Bracelet Drought Continues for “KidPoker”

Daniel Negreanu

“I was left with a feeling of hopelessness…For about two years I’ve developed PTSD over being all in”

Before the WSOP got underway, the wider community backed Negreanu to have an above-par summer, being the highest bid in his $25,000 WSOP Fantasy Draft. Many thought that perennial WSOP POY contender would end his nine-year bracelet drought

In spite of that, Negreanu went on to have his worst WSOP in recent memory, ending the series down around $1.1 million.

“It was pretty demoralizing and I was left with a feeling of hopelessness,” Negreanu told PokerNews regarding his 2022 WSOP. “I was really feeling like, I can’t win if I always lose when I go all in. For about two years I’ve developed PTSD over being all in because I’ve had the worst run in that regard in my 30 years playing,” he added.

One incident over the summer where Negreanu’s distress was on show was in the biggest buy-in event of the WSOP. In the $250,000 Super High Roller, Negreanu was already on his second bullet, meaning he had invested $500,000 invested in the tournament.

On Day 2, Negreanu was on the end of another beat where he had originally got his chips in as the favorite. His eliminator, David Peters, made a backdoor flush to crack his pocket tens which resulted in the tilt-induced blow-up as seen above.

The Poker Hall of Famer took some flack from some members of the poker community after his selfie-stick scrimmage. Justin Bonomo was one of the more vocal critics surrounding the topic which prompted Negreanu to call the all-time money list leader “indoctrinated and brainwashed beyond repair.”

Around a week and a half later, Negreanu hopped into Day 1C of the 2022 WSOP Main Event, but failed to bag after being felted following the dinner break. However, there was one good moment for Kid Poker during the day, as one of his railbirds repaid him a debt he owed from four years prior.

The WSOP then went from bad to worse after Negreanu received a graphic injury following the panic that was caused by rumors of an active shooter in Las Vegas.

Even on the virtual felt, similar patterns were emerging for Negreanu. On WSOP.com’s NV/NJ online bracelet events, he recorded two top-200 finishes before putting in a deep run in the NV/NJ WSOP Online $7,777 NLH Lucky 7s High Roller.

Negreanu was down to the final five players before he looked sent in his stack with pocket jacks. Andrew Robl called his shove with ace-eight and Negreanu was immediately behind and found no help after Robl flopped two pair.

Negreanu was awarded $88,081 following his top-five finish, which was also his best score for the entire series, both live and online.

It would also be his penultimate cash of the summer as he rounded out the series with a final score from Event #87: $5,000 NLH, where he finished in 13th place which is fairly poetic considering the lack of luck “DNegs” experienced while at the WSOP.

Overall, Negreanu received a payout slip in 12 events, but most were min-cashes or slightly above. He was unable to reach a final table in a live event for the first time since 2011.

Persistance Pays Off

Daniel Negreanu

Off the back of the WSOP and just one cash in September’s Poker Masters, Negreanu was at his low point for the year. All of the good work from the beginning of 2022 and preparations for the WSOP had been undone. That was until a single river card changed everything for Negreanu.

On Day 1 of the Super High Roller Bowl VII (SHRB), a $300,000 buy-in tournament filled with the world’s best players, it was Negreanu’s turn to have lady luck shine upon him.

Negreanu went runner-runner to make quad threes to move ahead of the aces full held by accused poker cheater Bryn Kenney. All the chips would pile in on the river for Negreanu while ousting Kenney to take the chip lead in the early levels.

From there on, he was the man to catch but neither of the remaining players managed to as Negreanu went on to win the latest SHRB for $3,312,000, his second biggest career payday.

Regarding his victory, Negreanu commented that “It’s up near the top [winning the SHRB]. I felt so confident going in after working on some exploits and it was the best performance of my career against top-notch competition. I essentially led the tournament from start to finish, going wire to wire, implementing a strategy I thought would be effective against these guys, and it worked flawlessly.”

Prior to his marquee victory and following his poor WSOP, some of Negreanu’s old cohorts commented that he needs to abandon his new play style and revert back to a former version of Kid Poker, a line of thinking that was vehemently rejected by the man himself.

“This is just plain silly. I would crush “Old Negreanu” it would be a massacre. I’m better than I’ve ever been,” he said.

“If you watched the vlogs over the summer, you saw how I was losing, and it wasn’t my decision-making, it was an endless string of bad luck in all-ins, something outside of my control. Today, I combine my 30 years of experience with theoretical knowledge available to all. I am not a “slave to the sim” and will always look for ways to exploit the way humans try to implement GTO concepts.”

THREE Pieces of Beginner Strategy Advice from Poker Superstar Daniel Negreanu

Lady Luck Comes Back to Haunt Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu

Now with a belly full of hope and momentum on his side, next up for Negreanu was the 2022 World Series of Poker Europe. With all eyes set on winning his first bracelet since 2013, which coincidentally was also at the European stop of the WSOP, Negreanu was in a good place to take Rozvadov by storm.

But that’s not exactly how it played out for the face of poker.

He put in a deep run in Event 6: $5,000 PLO, bowing out in 28th place for his first in-the-money finish of the WSOPE.

A few days later, Negreanu made his 20th WSOP final table appearance since winning his last bracelet in the series’ €25K Platinum High Roller.

When four players remained, DNegs held the chip lead but the blinds were at a point where the lead could shift on any given hand. He first lost a preflop all-in with pocket sevens against Shaun Deeb’s ace-rag. Then, he flopped a pair of aces against eventual winner Paul Phua, who turned a set and then was paid off on the river. After the latter hand, the tides had completely shifted away from Negreanu over to the Triton Poker co-founder.

With the blinds at 200,000/400,000 and a 400,000 big blind ante, Negreanu moved all in with pocket fives and was called by Phua, holding pocket fours. Negreanu was in an excellent position to get back to 25 big blinds, but his opponent flopped a set which was enough to prolong Negreanu’s bracelet drought to at least 2023.

Negreanu then headed back to Las Vegas for the World Poker Tour World Championship, and again was on the wrong side of a brutal bad beat.

The original field of 2,960 had been whittled down to its final 17 players. Negreanu was all in and at risk of elimination with a full house, deuces full of tens, and was up against the pocket kings held by Lucas Foster.

Negreanu needed to just fade four outs to double up to a healthy chip stack but a king would come on the river to improve Foster to a superior full house and end Negreanu’s tournament.

Despite collecting a $176,200 payout, Negreanu’s journey to the WPT WOC wasn’t for a boost to his bankroll but to chase a WPT title and to crack the $50 million lifetime mark in live tournaments.

DNegs’ last event of the year was the winner takes all 2022 PokerGO Tour (PGT) Championship and again he would be the victim of a cold deck. Negreanu, with pocket queens, got into a preflop-raising war against the formidable Sean Winter. Both players committed their stacks, but Negreanu had the worst of it as his opponent held pocket kings. There would be no saving grace on the runout and Negreanu’s year ended without any celebratory fireworks.

Playing poker seems more about legacy rather than chasing big paydays for Negreanu, and although he ended the year with an SHRB winner’s ring, a lackluster summer as well as not topping any of the PokerGO Tour leaderboards would’ve left a sour taste in his mouth.

Plans for 2023

Although 2022 contained several heartbreaks for Negreanu, he’s said he’s ready to for another year of live poker.

“For next year, I’ll grind the WSOP as always, start the year off at the PokerGO Cup, and possibly make a trip to at least one Triton stop.”

Without a point to prove to himself after the 2022 WSOP, you can fully expect Negreanu to be turbo-charged in his effort to capture bracelet no. 7 as well as a bunch of other prestigious titles.

India Continues to Struggle with Problem Gaming

India Continues to Struggle with Problem Gaming

The Indian gaming industry grows by an estimated 30% a year. Yet, the country is rife with illegal gambling, ineffective regulations, and a growing number of people suffering from addiction. The government’s inability to reign in offenders and impose a measure of control over the regulated market is quickly becoming a serious societal issue that has pushed dozens of people to suicide in recent years.

Current Regulations Are Largely Ineffective

Indian law strictly forbids all forms of chance-based gambling. However, skill-based games like rummy and fantasy sports are all on the table, despite featuring significant randomness. This distinction essentially gives gambling operators in the country free reign as long as they offer products which at least marginally fall into the allowed category.

Many offshore companies completely ignore Indian law and openly market their online services to Indian citizens. Illegal gambling is booming, with ads even running on official TV channels. Despite the government’s efforts to impose a semblance of order, India’s decentralized nature makes efficient nationwide enforcement efforts nearly impossible. Players regularly bet with operators like 1xBet, Betway, Fairplay, Parimatch, and Wolf 777 without any protections or responsible gaming guarantees.

The authorities have so far taken little action against illegal gambling. A high-profile case in June saw nine people sentenced for organizing an illegal gambling operation in a hotel room. While the case was a small step in the right direction, the lack of meaningful measures against serious offenders means that the situation can only deteriorate unless the government puts its act together.

Problem gambling is a growing issue in Indian society, with more tragic stories making their way into mainstream media. Suicides are on the rise as dozens of people take their lives each year due to gambling. Many of the victims racked up considerable debts wagering both legally and with unlicensed operators.

The pandemic had an especially devastating effect, pushing desperate and unemployed people to wager their savings, often resulting in devastating losses. A shocking example is a mother of two who spent $550,000 playing online, borrowing money from relatives, and selling personal items to feed her addiction. Unable to keep up with the pressure, she committed suicide.

Progress Remains Slow and Unfocused

Stories of gambling-related harm continue to surface. Although individual Indian states have taken measures to implement updated regulations, a nationwide effort currently seems infeasible. Responsible Netism, a Mumbai-based nonprofit, has stepped in to protect children from gambling harm, setting up counseling sessions and anti-addiction programs.

In an interview for Deutsche Welle, co-founder Unmesh Joshi noted that official progress was glacial, and it was up to organizations like Responsible Netism to help society. He added that an outright ban was not sustainable and that only effective regulation would provide a long-term solution.

There is an urgent need to establish regulations for online gaming…Providing social support to the addicts and imparting tech-related education to children is the need of the hour.

Unmesh Joshi, Responsible Netism co-founder

India currently represents everything that can go wrong when a country neglects to regulate its gambling industry. Players have no protections against dishonest practices, and even legal operators have little regard for responsible gaming. Offshore companies profit immensely without any oversight while contributing zero tax revenue. While local governments are making some progress, the lack of swift reforms means that Indian society will likely continue to suffer the consequences.

PartyPoker Championship Winter Main Event Kicks Off; Hula Leads

PartyPoker Championship Winter Main Event Kicks Off; Hula Leads

The first of six PartyPoker Championship (PPC) Winter Main Event flights is in the bag, and it was Ukraine’s Ihor Hula who was the fastest out of the blocks. Hula shone brightly on Day 1A of the $530 buy-in $500,000 guaranteed tournament and has done his chances of glory no harm at all. Indeed, his colossal stack makes him one of the favorites to go deep in the PPC Winter Main Event even at this early stage.

Day 1A was the starting flight of choice for 175 PartyPoker players, but only 26 of them progressed to Day 2 on January 16. Tomas Fara, Team PartyPoker’s Patrick Leonard, Jerry Odeen, Diego Cuellar, Kenny Hallaert, and Tomi Brouk were a handful of players who busted before Day 1A concluded.

The aforementioned Hula saw his 500,000 chip starting stack swell to an incredible 11,248,789 by the time the curtain came down on proceedings. Hula has almost 2.5 million chips more than any other player in the field, with the average stack weighing in at 3.37 million.

Dominykas Joskas (8,838,498) bagged up enough chips for second place, with Samuel Vousden (5,968,294), Daniel Custodio (5,599,770), and Gabriel Schroeder (5,466,328) rounding out the top five.

Day 1A was a great flight for satellite winners, with no less than 11 of the 26 progressing players winning their $530 seat via PartyPoker’s weekly satellites. Patrik Kucera (5,034,617) and Anthony Weldon (4,340,064) finished with enough chips for a spot in the Day 1A top ten.

Other stars to look out for as this tournament progresses include Blaz Zerjav (4,952,326), Antoine Saout (4,325,095), Alexandre Raymond (2,427,381), and Alexandros Theologis (2,018,216).

Truschkowski Bags Big in the PPC Winter Mini Main Event

The $55 buy-in $100,000 guaranteed PPC Winter Mini Main Event ran alongside its bigger brother and saw 243 entrants whittled to a more manageable 36. Just like in the Main Event, this tournament has a runaway chip leader after the first of six flights, Germany’s Mark Truschkowski, who bagged up a tournament-leading stack of 13,323,996 chips.

Austria’s Elvis Arzic (9,214,834) has a successful opening flight, as did the likes of Jonas Mortensen (8,652,802), Joao Baumgarten (3,083,602), Mathias Siljander (1,836,087), and Eliot Hudon (1,494,194), albeit with varying degrees. Hudon also made it through the opening Main Event flight.

CT Interactive Launches Games with Betmarket

CT Interactive Launches Games with Betmarket

Betmarket is among the latest entries in the Bulgarian iGaming market, where CT Interactive is headquartered. As a result, Betmarket will benefit from CT Interactive’s extensive variety of products and games delivered directly to players in the country.

CT Interactive Brings Games and Jackpots to Betmarket

CT Interactive has a string of excellent titles to add to Betmarket’s library, including Hot Luck Jackpot. CT Interactive hails this opportunity as another step forward in its presence in the iGaming market in Bulgaria, which has been picking up very quickly in 2022, with more positive developments anticipated in 2023. Company CEO Lachezar Petrov hailed the new opportunity and said:

We are excited to launch our games on the Betmarket site and to extend our reach in our domestic market with their growing customer base.

CT Interactive CEO Lachezar Petrov

Head of business development for EMEA, Milena Tsankarska, was similarly excited about the new partnership and said that the company is particularly happy to have introduced its products with the Betmarket brand in Bulgaria.

Betmarket CEO, Valentin Bozhilov, was similarly pleased with the opportunity and said that the company was pleased to have partnered up with CT Interactive and benefitted from its extensive selection of games, and not least the Hot Luck Jackpot.

The Bulgarian iGaming market has been developing quickly. In fact, the size of the gambling market has grown two-fold over the past years. Yet, there are problems that the industry itself has tried to conceal.

For one, a proposed watershed ban on gambling advertising is in stark contrast with the fact that gambling advertisement is not legal under state law. Yet, the National Revenue Agency has been slow to address the issue.

This comes at a time when commercials on Bulgarian TV are predominantly related to gambling products and credit products, without the necessary warnings about the dangers of the products.
