ESA Gaming Expands EasySwipe Offering by Adding Baccarat

Former RSI CEO Greg Carlin Launches New Casino Startup G2 Gaming

The innovative games provider for the iGaming vertical, ESA Gaming, announced the launch of its newest title a part of its EasySwipe portfolio, Baccarat. This is the thirteenth game a part of EasySwipe.

The new game marks the company’s third casino table game, resonating well with Blackjack and European Roulette, which were previously released. Besides the launch of Baccarat, ESA Gaming confirmed that more classic casino table games are due to be released soon.

ESA Gaming’s head of marketing, Thomas Smallwood, acknowledged that the release of Baccarat marks only the first game from the planned rollout in 2023. Moreover, he predicted that the new card game will be well-received by customers online.

Our 2023 content rollout is well underway with the release of our newest EasySwipe title, Baccarat, a classic casino card game which looks set to be a huge hit.

Thomas Smallwood, head of marketing at ESA Gaming

At the same time, ESA Gaming’s head of marketing acknowledged that the new game expands further the company’s offering which further boosts fan engagement not only for its partners but customers as well. Finally, Smallwood acknowledged that the company continues to build up its portfolio and the latest title contributes to the variety.

Baccarat Delivers Engaging Experiences

Inspired by the classic card game, ESA Gaming’s Baccarat title offers an RTP of 98%. According to the title’s developer, the game is played between two hands, the banker and the player. There are a total of three outcomes: win by the banker, player or a tie.

ESA Gaming’s Baccarat game is quite appealing, considering that it is a high-volatility title. What’s more, the game offers players a chance to win a prize of up to 25x, further taking the experience to a new level. The immersive title offers the online players a casino setting that enables them to “swipe in and out in open sessions,” explained ESA Gaming.

The release of the new title comes after early last month, the company hired the services of Josefin Uppeke. Joining ESA Gaming, Uppeke was named as the company’s new head of game production. In her new role, she is expected to play a pivotal role amid the ongoing growth and development of ESA Gaming and its products.

Before that, the company expanded further the reach of its product via a deal with betBonanza, a Nigerian operator. This collaboration helped ESA Gaming’s content reach new customers, while at the same time expanding the offering of the Nigerian operator.

888poker Ambassador Kara Scott Breaks Down Tips For Your First Live Poker Tournament

888poker Ambassador Kara Scott Breaks Down Tips For Your First Live Poker Tournament

Kara Scott has been around the poker industry for a while now, but she still remembers the first time she sat down at the live poker table. Having played poker at the microstakes, online at 888poker and all the way up to the biggest poker tournaments in the world, Scott is now sharing her advice on how to make yourself comfortable while playing live.

So whether you’re in a home game with friends or at one of the many exciting stops on the 888poker LIVE tour, listen up and you’ll be sure to learn a thing or two.

Practice

Many players first got into poker through home games — playing for pennies with friends or family members around the kitchen table, and Scott’s first piece of advice leans on this.

Home games are the perfect setting to get used to the mechanics of poker. It can be overwhelming to sit down at a poker table for the first time and not know exactly how it works. Everyone has checked out of turn or acted when they weren’t supposed to, and be practicing first you’ll know exactly how the game functions: from when to put out your blinds, when to ante and who acts first.

Plus, home games are super fun, especially online at 888poker!

Find Some Poker Friends

Poker is a social game, so why not have the social atmosphere to go with it? Getting a group of friends together can make your first time at a live poker table more enjoyable.

And you never know who else in your social circle might be interested in the game like you!

7 (Incredible) 888poker Client Features You Should Check Out NOW!

Check the Situation

So you’ve finally decided to head down to play some poker. Brilliant! One of the best ways to ease any first-time nerves is to get to the venue early in order to prepare.

Scott says she always recommends that those playing in the WSOP Main Event get to the venue early. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when met with a big tournament field like that, so getting there well in advance of cards going in the air can make you feel much more comfortable.

Don’t Talk Too Much

“Loose lips sink ships” was a popular phrase during World War II, and the same can be applied to poker — especially when it comes to beginners. Even in normal situations, people tend to get chatty when their nervous. But it’s important at the poker table that you don’t give anything away about your hand or your playing experience.

Plus, talking distracts you from watching the action and picking up on key information that might benefit you further down the line!

Don’t Be Embarassed

Scott’s last tip is perhaps the most important. Don’t be embarrassed. Even the best poker players in the world had to play in their first tournament once!

“When I played live for the first time I was so nervous that I would make a big mistake, act out of turn or not know some basic rules about live poker,” says Scott. “And you know what? I did all of those things! But I didn’t let it stop me from enjoying the whole experience and I learned quickly how to behave at a live poker table.”

It’s important to remember, says Scott, that other people don’t notice your mistakes the way you notice them. So get out there and enjoy yourself

It is the third WPT Prime festival of the year, with the stop at Paris already completed while WPT Prime Gold Coast is currently underway Down Under. New Record on the Horizon?

David Erquiaga
David Erquiaga

Last year’s WPT Prime Cambodia Main Event shattered previous WPT Prime records as it attracted 1.050 entries and created a whopping prize pool of $1,018,500.

The Philippines’ David Erquiaga claimed victory at the stop in 2022 and pocketed the $137,008 set aside for the winner. With a live poker boom underway, there is a good chance that this edition will surpass the previous figures.

Games Global’s Andrew Booth: “Strong Focus on Local Markets Leads to Global Dominance ”

Games Global’s Andrew Booth: “Strong Focus on Local Markets Leads to Global Dominance ”

In our recent sit-down with company chief product officer Andrew Booth, we discussed the current context in the gambling industry and where Games Global comes in.

The company presently operates 36 exclusive studios worldwide, giving Games Global a significant advantage over competitors with its distinct focus on local players and their needs.

Presence in local jurisdictions has given the company a very strong foothold in target markets, but also globally, allowing it to shape as a developer of iGaming content that always hits the mark.

Q: With 36 exclusive studios operating worldwide, do you feel Games Global has a strategic advantage over its competitors when it comes to analysing player preferences and creating content for specific markets?

Most definitely. The number of exclusive studios we collaborate with encapsulates our mission to have a diverse and innovative content offering. Having this array of content enables us to provide various themes and mechanics to keep our players engaged with our products.

It also means we can provide our customers with everything they need to run a successful casino product all under one roof, regardless of which markets they are operating in.

A big bonus for us is possessing local knowledge by having members of our talented teams in each jurisdiction. Having a better understanding of the trends, demographics, and which titles are enjoying success in various markets benefits us and our partners and keeps us in touch with the needs of players.

Q: Have you been able to identify regional trends when it comes to game mechanics, if so, are there certain types of games you know will work in one jurisdiction, but not others?

We have found that the best-performing titles resonate with players across all markets, in large part because of the math and mechanics within the game and how they entertain players, whether that be because of the theme, graphics or gameplay itself.

There are however some notable trends for certain jurisdictions. Video bingo games are, for example, extremely popular in LatAm, while the Netherlands and Spain enjoy familiarity with land-based games that have been designed for online audiences.

Unsurprisingly, our local studios enjoy the most success in their own markets as they can tap into the preferences of the audience and design content that appeals to them specifically. Additionally, we are constantly analysing data to see which titles are performing well, which helps ensure we are providing relatable content for different audiences.

Q: Do you rely on certain studios to create games for certain markets, or do you assess where each game will thrive once it’s been developed?

A bit of to be honest. Some of our studio partners may have more local knowledge or experience in creating specific game types for certain markets, such as video bingo titles in LatAm.  We also utilise strong math engines to find themes and trends that may resonate in certain markets. As a result, our studio partners develop titles that we feel can resonate with audiences globally, but we particularly want it to perform well in a certain market.

It goes without saying that local studios will have a better understanding of their home market, but in the end, it’s the players who decide whether a game is successful or not. We don’t have a crystal ball to see into the future, but our ability to predict success is getting better through our research and data analysis.

We use data to assess demand and, combined with our increasing level of knowledge of player preferences, we are able to provide relevant content to keep players engaged and entertained.

Q: Games Global exclusive studios have a number of new games coming out in Q1 including titles developed by Just For The Win, Snowborn Games and Triple Edge Studios. Which of the upcoming games has caught your eye the most?

We have a lot to look forward to at the start of 2023 and have a host of exciting new content due for release. It is hard to pick just a few titles, but some that I’m particularly excited about are Snowborn Games’ Masters Of Olympus™ and Trojan Kingdom from Just For The Win, but that really is the tip of the iceberg. It will be great to see these new titles hitting the market hot on the heels of Gold Blitz™ which has shown amazing results with great feedback from players and operators.

Fire and Roses Joker™ looks to be another winner with excellent performance stats shown in the exclusive release, Gallo Gold Bruno’s Megaways™ is off to a flyer in Italy and wider markets, Tippy Tavern™ looks set to be an evergreen classic, and many more will be added to our growing portfolio in Q1 and together promise to bring unique, entertaining experiences to players. We expect Northern Lights’ Bison Moon™ to be a very popular title, offering memorable visuals and the potential for players to win up to 12,500x their bet!

Q: Games Global enjoys a strong reputation for developing legendary jackpots such as Mega Moolah and WowPot! Are these games sought after in every jurisdiction they’re available, and are there more jackpot titles on the horizon?

Absolutely. Big jackpots greatly appeal to players in all markets where we offer them as they bring a heightened level of excitement. In truth, though, our jackpot titles are terrific games to play, which makes them even more attractive to players than the jackpots alone. We continue to pay out the largest jackpots in the industry with Mega Moolah recently paying out €6.7 million and WowPot! at the time of writing sitting at a potential record-breaking €20.6 million.

We are constantly introducing new titles into our progressive jackpot network, which has seen huge success as the pots accumulate across numerous markets to offer huge prize potential. As new markets open, we have to adhere to local regulations and it has been fantastic to see how well Maple Moolah, the Gold Factory version of Mega Moolah, has performed in Ontario, our first ring-fenced market with others to follow.

The demand for flexible jackpots is always increasing from operators as new jurisdictions open up, and there is so much scope for our network to expand. We always look to introduce brand new titles, specifically created for jackpots, as well as find innovative ways of bringing jackpots into existing titles. We have some fantastic new game types that we intend to introduce into our jackpot offering soon, so watch this space to find out more!

As a result, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has prompted The Star to provide for fines and penalties of AUD 150 million ($101 million) in its financial report for the half-year which ended on December 31, 2022.

Star Entertainment Could Be Slapped with Fines of up to $1B

As part of its financial reporting surveillance program, ASIC reviewed The Star’s financial report for the year ended on 30 June 2022. The review revealed that no provision had been made for potential fines and penalties related to non-compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws, despite some uncertainties about the amount.

The alleged non-compliances are the subject of an AUSTRAC investigation. According to the financial crimes regulator, Star has been accused of permitting 117 high-risk VIP customers to launder billions of dollars in illicit funds through its casinos for several years, which constitutes a “serious and systemic” violation of the law.

The non-cash impairment charge for fines and taxes for FY23 that Star faces is estimated to be between AUD 400 million ($269.7 million) and AUD 1.6 billion ($1 billion). The company has already been hit with two separate AUD 100 million ($67.4 million) fines by regulators in New South Wales and Queensland for compliance failures.

Following the concerns raised by ASIC, The Star has included provisions amounting to AUD 150 million ($101 million) in the company’s financial report for the half-year, which ended on December 31, 2022.

ASIC’s financial reporting surveillance program aims to improve the quality of financial reporting and to ensure financial reports have been prepared in accordance with the law, supporting investor confidence and the integrity of Australia’s capital markets.

Star Entertainment Faces Class and Regulatory Actions while Considering Asset Sales

Star Entertainment Group’s woes do not stop here. The company faces four class actions, and ASIC is separately pursuing action against former and current directors and executives.

The company’s recent financial report showed an AUD 1.26 billion ($849.6 million) loss in the six months to December 31, 2022, driven by an AUD 988 million ($666.2 million) write-down of its Sydney casino. The group is also considering offloading Brisbane real estate holdings as it attempts to secure its financial future for the next three years.

Star Entertainment Group is one of Australia’s largest casino operators, with properties in Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast. It is a significant contributor to Australia’s economy, providing jobs and tourism revenue. However, its recent troubles with compliance failures are a significant blow to its reputation and are leading to a loss of investor confidence.

Football is firmly in gambling’s grip as it hypocritically clamps down on Ivan Toney | Football

Having owned up to multiple breaches of Football Association betting rules, the Brentford striker Ivan Toney faces a lengthy ban. The episode heralds a sad fall from grace for the talented 26-year-old, who might have made England’s World Cup squad had the shadow of the Football Association’s charges not been hanging over him.

It is right that Toney is sanctioned for breaking rules designed to protect the integrity of the game. But the powers-that-be in football can hardly clutch their pearls in horror at this turn of events having suckled hungrily at the gambling industry’s teat for so long.

The Big Step, a campaign group dedicated to removing gambling adverts from football, scented the whiff of hypocrisy neatly, posting a quartet of photos on Twitter. They show Toney, twice, proudly holding a SkyBet player of the month award, Toney in Brentford’s strip, emblazoned with the logo of Hollywood Bets, and Toney’s chest serving as a billboard for the Asian betting firm Fun88, during a stint at Newcastle.

For anyone who thinks Toney is old enough to resist the gambling imagery surrounding him, consider the case of Chris Rigg, who came off the Sunderland bench in the FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury wearing a shirt advertising Spreadex. Rigg is 15. The firm specialises in spread betting, which consistently rates among the most addictive gambling products in analysis conducted by the NHS. Football’s love affair with the bookmakers goes much deeper.

If Toney betting on football matches looks like a conflict of interest, what of the fact that bookmakers and gambling entrepreneurs own clubs outright? Stoke are owned by the Coates family via their Bet365 empire, while the Brighton chairman, Tony Bloom, built his fortune on the back of gambling businesses, including his specialist sports betting advice firm Starlizard. Meanwhile, one of Bloom’s former employees, Matthew Benham, developed statistical models to make smart sports bets and owns the gambling stats firm Smartodds and betting exchange Matchbook. As the Brentford owner he may now have to use his gambling riches to fund a stand-in for Toney.

The gambling-football nexus doesn’t end there, far from it. As the Guardian revealed last year, football clubs have been taking a cut of their fans’ losses for years, thanks to secret deals with gambling companies. More visibly, nearly half of Premier League clubs have front-of-shirt gambling sponsors, while rates are even higher in the Championship. Amid a much-delayed but wide‑ranging government review into gambling laws, top-flight clubs are expected to agree a voluntary ban on these deals soon. Yet pitchside ads – beamed into millions of homes every game – look likely to remain untouched.

Whether one agrees that the ads should go or not, forfeiting one form of in-game advertising but not the other is nonsensical. Yet such hoop-jumping would be just another symptom of football’s eagerness to bend to the will of the gambling companies, not to mention the broadcasters who profit from the industry’s marketing budgets.

Quick Guide

Ivan Toney ‘concerned’ about FA disciplinary process after ban speculation

Show

Brentford striker Ivan Toney says speculation relating to his impending disciplinary hearing on gambling-related charges has left him concerned about the process.

Toney is reported to be facing a ban of up to six months after being charged with a total of 262 breaches of the Football Association’s gambling laws that date back to 2017.

But Toney has hit out at the governing body over what he perceives to be potential lapses of confidentiality as he prepares to argue his case.

Toney wrote on his Instagram stories: “I was shocked and disappointed to see press speculation yesterday and today about the FA investigation process concerning me after I have been told by the FA that it is a confidential process until any decision has been made.

“It is especially disturbing for me to read that the FA is saying I shall be banned from football for six months before there has even been a hearing, and it does make me worried about the process.

“My lawyers will be writing to the FA to request that they conduct a leak inquiry as this is the second time stories have appeared in the newspapers – the last time was just before the selection of the England World Cup squad.

“As I continue to be told the investigation is mean to be confidential, I am unable to provide any further comment. I shall continue to concentrate on my football.” PA Media

Thank you for your feedback.

Ever wondered why some games kick off at 8.15pm? Consider the voluntary “whistle to whistle” ban agreed by bookies, who promised not to advertise during matches before 9pm. The measure, brought in during 2019, meant that any matches starting at 8pm or earlier could no longer include half-time ad breaks featuring the likes of Ray Winstone demanding that punters “bet now” with Bet365. A coincidence, perhaps, that 2019 also ushered in the first 8.15pm kick-offs, allowing for the restoration of lucrative half-time advertising.

Those who listen to games on the radio don’t even have to wait for ad breaks. Commentators on TalkSport have been known to reel off odds during the match as part of commercial deals with the bookies. Little wonder, then, that some in the gambling industry see football as a cross between their personal plaything and a cash machine, at least according to a 2019 court case. In an email submitted as evidence, a broker involved in BetVictor’s deal to sponsor Liverpool’s training kit told the company: “You get to virtually own Liverpool Football Club” for an investment of £4.5m a year.

All the while, gambling has continued to bring embarrassment to football’s door. Recent unsavoury episodes include Everton’s discomfort over its own deal with crypto-betting firm Stake.com, a Paddy Power stunt that backfired for Huddersfield Town, not to mention the whole sorry “Pie-gate” affair involving Sutton United’s goalkeeper.

Perhaps more seriously, one of the many managers who advertises for gambling companies, such as José Mourinho or Harry Redknapp, could easily field a competitive team from the list of players whose excessive gambling, or addiction, has made headlines. They include Wayne Rooney, Paul Merson, Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker and Matthew Etherington.

The football authorities have shown little appetite to loosen gambling’s grip. Yet, in the Toney affair, they presume to sit in judgment, wringing their hands over a player’s betting habits. It has echoes of the moment in Casablanca when Captain Renault, the hapless policeman, declares himself “shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here”. A moment later, a croupier hands him a pile of money. “Your winnings, sir.”
