How to Play Teen Patti: Rules and Strategies

An over the shoulder look at the cards of a man playing Teen Patti with his family

For those unfamiliar, Teen Patti may seem like a chaotic, hard to understand game. However, the truth is that it is a bright, colourful, fun game that is relatively easy to play, but perhaps more difficult to master!

Here we examine the Teen Patti rules, its cultural significance and how Teen Patti Live may have even improved upon its offline predecessor.

What is Teen Patti?

Teen Patti is an incredibly popular card game, most commonly played in India and Indian communities around the world. The game itself is thought to have its origins in Europe, as it strikes a strong resemblance to the British game “Three Card Brag”.

Although there is no confirmed record of when Teen Patti came to prominence in India, it is assumed that Three Card Brag was introduced by the British when the first landed in the country in the early 17th century.

Teen Patti is also referred to as “Indian Poker”, as traditional poker has had a clear influence on the Indian variant. Teen Patti rules likely would have evolved from both Poker and Three Card over the years, decades and centuries that have followed and is now recognised as a stand-alone game.

The Cultural Significance of Teen Patti

In modern day India, Teen Patti is played amongst friends and families and all generations. This is especially true during religious festivals such as Diwali, when Teen Patti is believed to have great importance, not only in bringing generations together, but also as a way to teach younger generations about religion. During Diwali, Shiva is even believed bless those who gamble on Teen Patti!

A month before the Hindu festival of Janmashtami, people also celebrate by playing Teen Patti – although for slightly different reasons. Those who celebrate Janmashtami, do so in tribute of Lord Krishna’s birthday. It is believed that Krishna rid India of taboos such as gambling and alcohol, except for during certain periods in the calendar. As a tribute to Krishna, people will gamble and play Teen Patti throughout the month prior to his birthday. Once the festival of Janmashtami begins, the gambling will stop, and “normal” society resume.

How To Play Teen Patti

One of the reasons for Teen Patti’s evergreen popularity is how simple it is to play. In order to play Teen Patti, you need just three to six players and a standard 52-card deck. You are also going to need to bring a serious amount of bluster; an inherent talent for bluffing is almost a pre-requisite!

Of course, bluffing is a commonly used strategy in poker as well as in Teen Patti, and the two games share other similarities as well. Players have a buy-in, referred to as an ante, and the pot can be raised as the game continues. Of course, those who raise the stakes may be bluffing, but there is always a chance that they truly have a strong hand, so it is important to be cautious when calling bets!

Teen Patti Rules

Teen Patti is not a terribly difficult game to understand. In fact, it is probably one of the easier card games to comprehend. Of course, you can try to jump straight in on the action and learn the game “on the job”. However, we would suggest that there are some Teen Patti rules that you should have at least a basic grasp of before you sit down to play.

The Deal

The play begins by deciding who will be the dealer. Each player will draw a card from the deck and the player with the highest ranked card will be the dealer. Players will post their ante and the dealer will deal. Cards are dealt clockwise from the dealer, and each player will receive three cards. All three cards are dealt face down.

Hand Rankings

When it comes to the ranking of the different hands, the influence of poker on Teen Patti becomes apparent – even if the game is played with just three cards! The hand rankings are below, from strongest to weakest:

  • Trio (Three of a Kind)
  • Pure Sequence (Straight Flush)
  • Sequence (Straight)
  • Colour (Flush)
  • Double (Pair)
  • No Pair (High Card)

The Bets

Once the antes have been posted and the cards have been dealt, the action begins! Players have a choice to either play blind (without seeing their cards) or seen (seeing their cards). If a player decides to play blind, they retain the option to play seen later in the game. Should you wish to see your own cards before betting you should be aware that there is a cost! Playing seen means that you must bet a minimum of twice the minimum stake, whereas blind players only need to bet the minimum.

Side-Shows

The side show adds some spice to the game! This is when one seen player can challenge another to secretly show each other their cards. Once seen, the player with the worse hand will be forced to leave the game. The challenged player can accept or reject the duel. At this stage the challenged player must carefully consider whether they think their competitor is bluffing to avoid elimination.

Final Showdown

Through a series of sideshows and folds, the number of players will eventually be whittled down to two – and this is when the final showdown can occur. At this stage one of the final two players can demand that the showdown occur.

If the opponent is playing blind, the player will have to bet four times the current bet. Conversely, if both players are playing seen then the bet amount is double. His opponent then has one of two options; he can call or fold. If he decides to call, then the player with the best hand wins the entire pot.

Play Teen Patti Live at Casino.com

Teen Patti Live is available in the Casino.com Live Casino lobby, and it is a faithful adoption of the traditional Indian game. Players can choose to play seen or blind, as is the case in the offline version of the game. However, as is to be expected by a game developed by Playtech, there are some very interesting additions to the online version that you will not see anywhere else! The main difference is the side bets that are available in the online game: Pair Plus and Mega Bonus.

Teen Patti Live: Pair Plus Bet Pay-Out

In the Pair Plus side bet, the player can win if they hold a pair, flush, straight, straight flush or three of a kind. What is interesting in this side bet is that it renders the dealer’s hand irrelevant as it depends solely on the hand the player is dealt.

Hand Pay-out
Three Aces 200:1
Trio (2-King) 40:1
Pure Sequence 30:1
Sequence 6:1
Colour 3:1
Double 1:1

Teen Patti Live: Mega Bonus Pay-Out

The Mega Bonus is the second side bet available. Here, the player’s cards and the dealer’s cards are combined to produce the best possible five card hand. It is important to note at this point the Mega Bonus bet has a lower RTP (92.28%) than both the Pair Plus (95.8%) and regular Ante bets (97.74%). However, this side-bet does have a potential maximum win of 2000:1!

Hand Pay-out
Royal Flush 2000:1
Running Flush 500:1
Four of a Kind 100:1
Full House 25:1
Flush 15:1
Run 10:1
Trio 6:1

UK Gambling White Paper: Everything You Need to Know

New rules

After what seems like a lifetime, the day many UK gambling firms feared has finally arrived. The UK government has released its long-awaited white paper on gambling reform that is set to bring the Gambling Act 2005 into the modern era.

Lucy Frazer, the UK Secretary of State for Culture, outlined the changes in Parliament on Thursday morning. She affirmed that the white paper would help protect the vulnerable while ensuring that those who want to gamble responsibly can do so. The majority of the changes are due to come into effect in the summer of this year.

a shake-up for one of the world’s most mature gambling markets

Now that the white paper is live on the UK government website, VegasSlotsOnline News has broken down each section to give you all the information you need to know. From affordability checks to online slot restrictions and boosts for land-based, the white paper will cause a shake-up for one of the world’s most mature gambling markets.

Online protections

From the outset, MPs have made clear that their main intention with the white paper is to make UK gambling law fit for the age of online gambling, better protecting vulnerable gamblers from high-risk digital gaming.

As part of this goal, average loss background checks will take place when a player hits a net loss of £125 ($156) per month or £500 ($622) per year. More detailed affordability checks will take place at loss thresholds of £1,000 ($1,245) within 24 hours or £2,000 ($2,490) within a 90-day period. These amounts will be cut in half for those aged under 25.

an online slot staking limit of between £2 and £15 per spin

The white paper also includes an online slot staking limit of between £2 ($2.49) and £15 ($18.67) per spin, with gamblers under the age of 25 likely subject to a more stringent limit than average. Up to this point, there has been no statutory limit for online slots but some operators, such as Flutter Entertainment, have introduced voluntary limits.

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will also consult on multiple matters, including mandating participation in a cross-operator harm prevention system and updating design rules for online gambling products. It will also aim to improve player-centric tools, such as deposit limits and cool-off periods.

Ads, sponsorship, and branding

As part of its goal to protect vulnerable players from gambling marketing, the UKGC has already started restricting VIP schemes and updated its rules on bonus offers targeting at-risk gamblers.

The white paper confirms that the body will now review the design and targeting of free bets and bonuses to ensure they don’t put gamblers at risk. Other potential changes include giving customers greater control over the marketing they see and strengthening informational messaging on ads.

reduce children’s incidental exposure to gambling logos”

The white paper also notes the English Premier League’s decision to ban front-of-shirt sponsorships from the 2026/27 season. MPs believe this will “reduce children’s incidental exposure to gambling logos while watching football.”

Finally, sports bodies will work to develop a gambling sponsorship code that will be refined by the government over the coming months.

The UKGC’s powers

The white paper affirms that a review will take place to ensure the UK gaming regulator has all of the resources it needs to continue to improve and hold the industry to account. In tandem, the body will “become a more proactive regulator,” analyzing data and using its powers of enforcement when necessary.

Eventually, the Gambling Commission will have the power to block access to illegal black market gambling sites through internet services and payment providers.

To help fund advances in gambling addiction research, education, and treatment, a statutory levy will require gambling firms to contribute a certain amount of their annual funds. This will be collected and distributed by the UKGC.

a non-statutory ombudsman to settle customer complaints

The white paper also includes plans to create a non-statutory ombudsman to settle customer complaints that are not resolved between customers and gambling firms. The ombudsman will be fully “operational and independent,” with any information it collects going to help the UKGC.

Protecting the young

In order to protect children and young adults, the white paper includes plans to make the purchase of lottery and soccer pool products illegal for anyone under the age of 18, as well as Category D cash out slot machines. MPs also noted the increased age limit for the National Lottery, which was introduced in 2020.

To crack down on age verification in pubs and smaller venues, the white paper has challenged the industry to improve its processes for these facilities in particular. The government will also strengthen licensing authority powers in regards to these premises by making provisions in the UKGC code.

Ministers also hope to improve the protection of 18 to 24 year-old gamblers by introducing earlier interventions of financial risk and lower stake limits for online slot games. Operators will also have to give special consideration to age as a factor when assessing vulnerabilities.

Land-based gaming

Finally, the land-based gaming sector is set to benefit from the white paper in a number of ways as MPs aim to rebalance regulation.

Casinos of all sizes will get to offer sports betting

Among the rules, a table ratio of 5:1 will apply for both large and small casinos, while small casinos will now get to have the same 80 slot machine maximum allowance as larger facilities. Casinos of all sizes will get to offer sports betting and other gambling activities.

Casinos that cater to high-rollers from foreign countries will be able to offer credit as long as the players have undergone stringent checks to be set by the UKGC. Meanwhile, the UKGC will also work with the government to reintroduce safe cashless gaming after consulting on player protection options.

The government will consider allowing bingo premises to offer side bets. It will also adjust the rules that restrict gambling machines in bingo and arcade venues to 50/50, allowing them more gambling options. MPs also support trials of linked gaming machines which would allow prizes to accrue across multiple machines.

Ethan “Rampage” Yau Battles With Sean Winter in a $10K WSOP Bounty Event

Ethan "Rampage" Yau Battles With Sean Winter in a $10K WSOP Bounty Event

Ethan “Rampage” Yau has quickly risen to the highest stakes and regularly finds himself competing against some of the best players in the world.

In this hand from a World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 buy-in bounty event, Yau battles against one of the top high-stakes tournament players: Sean Winter.

Yau finds himself in a tricky spot facing a rather large bet on the flop in a multiway pot. He was undecided as to whether he should call or raise as he has a blocker to the nut flush draw with the king of clubs.

When your opponent can potentially have all of the nuts in their range you should be more inclined to call rather than raise. It is important to think of many variables in a poker hand to ensure that you can crush live tournaments!

In bounty tournaments when you generally cover your opponents you should be looking to make the pot bigger so that you have the opportunity to stack them.

In the early levels of the WSOP event with blinds of 300/500, the hand kicked off with the under-the-gun player opening and Winter calling in the hijack. Yau also called on the button holding KQ with a stack of 59,000 before the big blind also called.

Sean Winter
Sean Winter

I think it is fine for Yau to call with king-queen when playing so deep-stacked, but there may also be some merit in three-betting, especially when there are bounties to be collected.

The flop landed AJ3 and the big blind and under-the-gun player both checked before Winter bet a sizable 3,200. Yau called with his gutshot and backdoor flush draw and the under-the-gun player also called.

Calling is the right move here because Winter has all of the nut hands in his range. He could easily have ace-jack, pocket jacks, pocket threes or ace-three. He may three-bet some of those, but all of those are well within his range. Additionally, Yau’s king-high is actually ahead of Winter’s drawing hands.

If Yau was shallow-stacked he would be more inclined to fold, but with the implied odds he can comfortably call here.

Jonathan Little and Ethan Yau
Jonathan Little and Ethan \”Rampage\” Yau

The 10 turn was a gin card for Yau as it gave him the Broadway straight and also the nut flush draw. Action checked to Winter and he bet 4,300 as the under-the-gun player got out of the way. Yau told me that he thought raising might be the better play, but I think calling is a fine play.

The 10 river completed the board and Winter fired a small bet of 5,500.

This is an annoying spot for Yau because any two pairs or sets that Winter may have had improved to a full house. Because of that, I think Yau’s best option is to call here. If he raises, I don’t think he will get action from worse hands.

What would you do in Yau’s situation?

  • Fold
  • Call
  • Raise Small (11,000)
  • Raise Big (All-In)

Yau did call and Winter turned over 33 for a full house. Yau lost the pot but he could have lost a lot more if he raised.

I like Yau’s play in this hand across the board, even though it didn’t work out for him in this instance.

For more on this hand check out my breakdown in the following video:

Modern Bingo Calls ▶️ List of New Bingo Calls & Meanings Explained

A Woman Browsing Social Media

In this blog, we’ve included all the information you need for your next visit to the bingo hall. No one wants to be left behind, so you know what each modern-day bingo call means. Furthermore, we’ve also provided some tips on how to play bingo at a modern hall and some predictions on how bingo lingo might develop in the future. So, keep reading to learn some new bingo slang.

History of 21st Century Bingo Calls

Bingo calls are believed to have originated in the 1950s. Exactly who used these fun rhyming phrases to announce bingo numbers first is not 100% clear. However, allegedly, soldiers who enjoyed bingo as a favourite past-time started coming up with terms, such as Kelly’s Eye (relating to Ned Kelly, an Australian outlaw and hero), Dirty Gertie (derived from the humorous song “Dirty Gertie by Bizerte”, which the British troops sang during World War II), and more.

Many of these fun expressions stuck, and bingo callers started using them instead of announcing the numbers. Soon, cockney rhyming slang, movie-inspired terms and bingo calls inspired by the shape of the number were also utilised. So, before players knew it, every number in the game could be announced with a fun phrase. Below, we’ve included some popular classic bingo calls so that you can get an idea of what we’re talking about in case you’ve never played before.

  • 🦆 Number 2 – One Little Duck (Inspired by the shape of the number)
  • 📍 Number 8 – Garden Gate (Rhymes, yet it also used to symbolise a meeting place for gang members in the East end of London)
  • 💊 Number 9 – Doctor’s Order (Used because it was common for British army doctors to prescribe the number 9 pill to soldiers)
  • 💝 Number 14 – Valentine’s Day (Simply connected to the date)
  • 🤿 Number 25 – Duck and Dive (Rhymes and the number 5 resembles a diving duck)

However, there are many more traditional bingo calls, so if you want to find out where they originated, our full list of bingo number nicknames might be useful. However, in this article, we will focus on the new 21st-century bingo calls. Inspired by various pop-culture trends, they reflect the times we live in and include expressions like Tinder Date, Netflix and Chill, It’s a Vibe and more.

How to Play Modern Bingo

Before we throw bingo slang at you, let’s briefly go over the basic rules you need to know when playing in a bingo hall or at one of the best online bingo sites. Firstly, there are different types of bingo, such as 90 ball and 75 balls. Your goal is to cross off numbers when they are called and be the first one to get five in a row. For complete beginners, we’ve also provided some key steps below:

  1. Listen carefully for what letter-number combination the caller announces (Here is where knowing what the modern bingo calls stand for is fundamental).
  2. If you have it, mark the same number on your scorecard (This can be done with a chip, marker or if playing online just by clicking on it).
  3. Play until you or someone else gets five numbers in a row (this can be a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line).
  4. If you get five squares in a row, call ‘Bingo’ (If playing online, that can be done via clicking the corresponding button).
  5. Once the round is over, clear your scoreboard (Always start a new game with a clear scoreboard).

Bingo is not a complicated game, so even as a new player, you can get the hang of how to win at bingo pretty quickly. Just remember that when playing online, things may look a bit different than what you are used to when playing in a physical bingo hall. However, as long as you familiarise yourself with the online layout of the specific bingo game, you should be all set.

List of Modern Bingo Calls

New bingo calls are added frequently, and most of them are inspired by pop culture. Whether it’s TV, music or social media, the modern-day bingo calls are often represented by slang that teenagers use. This is why some of the most popular ones might seem a bit out there. In the table below, we’ve included the most famous ones that are here to stay. Of course, there are more, but let’s first see if they stick around for long enough to be included in our list of modern bingo calls:

📢 Modern Bingo Calls 🔢 Number & Meaning
Selfie Heaven 87 – Refers to the craze of taking selfies
Netflix and Chill 69 – Refers to a popular phrase for staying in and watching TV shows or movies
Twerking 29 – Refers to a dance move popularised in the 2010s
Brexit Blues 52 – Refers to the UK’s decision to leave the European Union
Gluten-Free 83 – Refers to the dietary trend of avoiding gluten
TikTok Tricks 66 – Refers to the social media app TikTok and its viral challenges
Vaping Craze 38 – Refers to the trend of vaping or e-cigarettes
Online Dating 48 – Refers to the trend of using dating apps and websites
Late for my Tinder Date 68 – Refers to the popular dating app Tinder
Zoom Meeting 16 – Refers to the virtual meeting software

Many of these 21st century bingo calls have been added simply because they are fun and popular among players currently active on social media. This way, bingo halls can avoid outdated terms younger people wouldn’t understand and keep the game engaging and appealing to newer generations. However, that is not the sole reason why so many new bingo calls have appeared in the last 10 to 20 years.

Many classic calls were also replaced on purpose because as society develops, some of the older calls have become less entertaining, odd, or not inclusive. For example, the traditional bingo call Two Fat Ladies that was used for 88 is considered offensive in modern times. Nevertheless, many others have just been inspired by current media, so we explore the 3 main categories modern bingo calls are derived from below.

Modern Bingo Calls Inspired by Social Media

Probably one of the biggest inspirations behind modern bingo calls is social media. From Instagram and Twitter to Facebook and Snapchat, online social platforms have a huge impact on today’s youth and even the older generations. As a result, bingo calls like Instagram Pics instead of Between the Sticks for 86 have emerged and appeal to more than just the young players.

In addition, it is through social media that many trends begin and how important news spreads. Therefore, we can also put new bingo calls like Not Another Brexit Debate for 48 and Haters Gon’ Hate for number 78 in this category. Finally, when playing online, social media abbreviations like LOL (laughing out loud), GG (good game) and BLNT (better luck next time) are also used to quickly text other players, so understanding these are just as significant.

Modern Day Bingo Calls Inspired by Movies & Shows

In addition to social media, movies, shows and streaming platforms also have a significant influence. Films have always been an inspiration behind bingo calls, but nowadays, a visit to the cinema is unnecessary. Everyone has the latest shows and movies at the tip of their finger with platforms like Netflix, so modern-day bingo calls related to them spread much more quickly.

A Remote Control with Netflix Open in the Background

An example of this type of modern bingo call is Netflix and Chill, which in some bingo halls is used for 14, as that relates to the date on which couples celebrate Valentine’s Day, while in others, it signifies 69. Therefore, you should be a bit careful with which number you mark when this 21st-century bingo call gets announced. Newer phrases need some time to settle in, so keep that in mind.

Modern Bingo Calls Inspired by Music

Finally, the last main source of inspiration for 21st-century bingo calls is music. Just like TV and movies, music has always inspired bingo callers. Therefore, it’s no surprise that even in today’s world, music stars and their songs serve as the base for bingo calls. From Adele, which is the call for 25 because she has an album with the same name, to Little Mix for 6, which is dedicated to the winners of X Factor 2011.

Adele's Album Entitled 25 on Vinyl

However, when it comes to music, classic rock stars have not been forgotten. Unlike a lot of TV shows and movie references that have become outdated, bingo calls like Dancing Queen for 15 (a reference to ABBA) and The Beatles for 64 (a reference to their famous hit ‘When I’m 64’) remain relevant to this day.

The Future of Bingo Calls

We briefly examined the past with some traditional calls and the present with the most popular 21st-century bingo calls, but what about the future? New bingo calls are created frequently, and the times keep changing, so it’s difficult to predict what the next funny phrase will be. However, looking at how trends and social media are developing, it wouldn’t be surprising if the next big thing in bingo lingo is derived from memes.

Nevertheless, there is also the possibility of the art of bingo calling disappearing as more players migrate to online bingo. In any case, it is evident that fans of the game are doing everything they can to preserve bingo history while also staying relevant by incorporating current cultural references with modern bingo calls.

Anonymous Reddit Post Drives Odds of QB Will Levis Being the First Pick in the 2023 NFL Draft

Will Levis: Reddit NFL Draft hero

An anonymous Redditor bamboozled football fans and sportsbooks into believing that Kentucky quarterback Will Levis was going to be selected by the Carolina Panthers with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

“SaleAgreeable2834” posted a statement that made it seem as if they had inside knowledge as to what was going on behind the scenes just a couple of days before the draft. Fans in various states can bet on where players will be selected in the draft, so naturally, their ears perked up reading Mr. or Ms. Agreeable’s post.

The post was submitted around 8am ET without any context or evidence, yet Levis’ odds shifted from +4000 to roughly +400 at many major sportsbooks within an hour.

Sudden movement

Levis has been the presumptive third or fourth-best quarterback prospect for most of the draft buildup. Ohio State QB CJ Stroud and Alabama QB Bryce Young battled for the top spot in experts’ draft boards, a race in which Young pulled firmly ahead after mental cognition test results leaked and Stroud scored just 18%. Young, on the other hand, recorded a historic 98% (note: the creator of the test said to take the results “with a grain of salt”).

In light of the results, Levis, who supposedly scored an impressive 93% on the test, became the favorite to be selected second by the Houston Texans, but was still well behind Young in odds to be the number one pick.

DraftKings, Caesars and FanDuel all reported significant upticks in the number of bets

In the hours after the Reddit post, DraftKings, Caesars, and FanDuel all reported significant upticks in the number of bets received on Levis to be the first prospect off the board.

“Once you get those flood of bets, it’s going to make a big odds shift,” Caesars college football lead trader Joey Feazel said.

Feazel revealed that despite the rapid increase in popularity, there were no huge sums of money bet (at Caesars). The largest bet they received was for $800, which would pay out $32,800 if placed at +4000 odds.

Panthers coach Frank Reich said at a Tuesday press conference the organization had made its decision as to who it was going to select with the first pick, but did not share who that player was. Carolina met with Young, Levis, Stroud, and Florida’s Anthony Richardson over the past months.

Moving the needle

Odds for Levis and other NFL Draft prospects are still all over the place following the Reddit debacle. On DraftKings, Levis is tied with Stroud at +800 and well behind Young at -1600 (94.1% implied probability).

BetMGM, which did not even have Levis as one of the three favorites to go first overall the morning of the Reddit reveal, has him as the standalone second-most likely option at +500. Young is -1400, Stroud is +2500, and Richardson is +3000.

FanDuel is all-in on Young being the first off the board and has him at -2000. Levis is +1000, Stroud is +2500, and unlike BetMGM, Richardson is a way-off +7500.

Certainly, the production between Levis and Young, even Stroud, is not comparable. The Reddit favorite threw for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions during his final collegiate season. Young was much better with 3,328 yards, 32 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Stroud racked up 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns, and six interceptions, and had the second-best quarterback rating in the country.

social media has a track record of influencing huge financial markets

As silly as it may seem, social media has a track record of influencing huge financial markets. In 2021, a group of Redditors banded together to drive GameStop’s stock price through the roof to force those that bet on the stock falling to lose billions of dollars.

Dogecoin, a “joke” cryptocurrency, helped early investors receive massive payouts after it went viral on social media and saw its stock price increase significantly. New Twitter boss Elon Musk even put the coin’s logo on the Twitter app in support.

The NFL Draft starts at 8pm ET on Thursday, April 27.

Eric Persson Bluffs JRB and Flips Him the Bird on High Stakes Poker

Eric Persson Bluffs JRB and Flips Him the Bird on High Stakes Poker

Eric Persson pulled off a brilliant bluff against Jean-Robert Bellande during the newest High Stakes Poker episode, and made sure his opponent knew just how proud he was of the play.

Episode 12 of Season 10 aired on PokerGO Tuesday night, and it provided some juicy hands, none more so than the pot we just mentioned and will explain in further detail in just a bit.

Seated at the table were the same high rollers as last week — Persson, Bellande, Daniel Negreanu, Jennifer Tilly, Stanley Choi, and Andrew Robl, and Stanley Tang.

High Stakes Poker will have a special episode on Thursday at 3 p.m. PT. For the first time in the iconic poker show’s history, PokerGO will live-stream the action and fans can watch every hand, not just the regular edited-for-TV version.

There were some massive stacks in action, especially Robl, who had well over $1 million in front of him. During the middle of the episode, the stacks were as follows:

Player Stack
Andrew Robl $1,288,000
Eric Persson $495,400
Jean-Robert Bellande $455,900
Stanley Choi $433,600
Daniel Negreanu $175,900
Stanley Tang $134,000
Jennifer Tilly $127,200

On the very first hand, with an $800 straddle on, Tilly raised it to $4,000 from a late position with 42 before Bellande, on the button with Q5 bumped it up to $16,000. That didn’t turn out to be a profitable decision as Choi, the straddle, woke up with KK and wasn’t messing around. He raised it to $55,000, which forced everyone off the pot.

Shortly after, the action picked up with the double straddle on. Action folded around to Tang in the big blind, and he opted to raise it up to $6,000 with 98. Persson called with A2 in the first straddle, as did Choi in the second straddle with 76.

The flop came out 1062, a little something intriguing for everyone. Tang led for $11,000 with a flush and straight draw before Persson, who had nothing but bottom pair, went for the aggressive raise to $31,000. Choi then three-bet it to $60,000 and that was the end of that pot.

Poker Player Loves His Middle Finger

Batman has an indestructible car. Superman has a cape. Tom Brady has a golden arm. Eric Persson has a middle finger. Two of them, actually. In 2022, during a heads-up tournament on PokerGO, the poker player flipped Phil Hellmuth the bird during an argument.

That was the mainstream poker audience’s introduction to Persson, the Tony G of his time, if you will. He has since become a colorful character and you either love him or hate him. On Episode 12 of High Stakes Poker, he made quite a play and then let the birds fly again.

In another double straddled pot, Robl began the action by raising to $5,000 with KQ. Bellande just called with AK on the button. Persson called with A9 in the big blind, and Tilly came along with 33 in the first straddle.

The flop was 56A and, after action folded to the button, Bellande bet $12,000 with top-top. Only Persson made the call. When the 10 appeared on the turn, the action went check, bet $30,000, call. And then when the 8 on the river didn’t improve either player’s hand, Persson again checked, but his opponent didn’t take his foot off the gas and fired out another wager, this time for $65,000.

At this point it was likely Persson could only beat a bluff, so he decided to turn his top pair hand into a bluff and raised it up to $265,000. Bellande went into the tank before exposing his superior hand.

“I’m going to fold this, but quickly throw that hand in the muck because I don’t want to see it,” Bellande pleaded to Persson.

Persson didn’t oblige and proudly turned over his weaker ace hand. He then proceeded to let JRB know just how much he appreciated the fold via the double bird.

The double straddle was once again on in this next hand, which Tang, who founded the DoorDash app and will be competing in the upcoming $1 million cash game hosted by Hustler Casino Live, raised to $4,000 from an early position with K9 before Persson three-bet to $14,000 in late position with QQ.

Everyone folded except Tang, who called to see a flop of 3A9, not exactly what either player had dreamed of hitting preflop. Both players checked to the J turn. Persson bet $10,000 and received a call. The river was an uneventful 6. They checked it around and Persson took down the $51,000 pot.
