Poker players in North America can look forward to a guaranteed $7 million worth of tournaments for PokerStars‘ inaugural NACOOP.
This event brings the thrill of the PokerStars flagship Championship Of Online Poker series to the markets in Ontario, Pennsylvania, and the combined Michigan/New Jersey market.
For the first time ever, the COOPs in these three markets are being synchronized to create the combined season of NACOOP.
Prizes and Trophies
Of the $7,000,000 in guarantees, $3,000,000 is earmarked for tournaments in the combined Michigan and New Jersey market. PACOOP will get $2,500,000. And the ONCOOP gets the remaining $1,500,000 — which comes to about 2,000,000 CAD.
The NACOOP series launches on September 15 in all three markets. The high-octane action will continue until October 2.
During this time players aren’t just competing for the huge cash prizes, there will also be a 24-karat gold-plated trophy for the winners of the NACOOP Main Events in each market.
To play the NACOOP in the US, you will need to sign up for an account with PokerStars PA, PokerStars NJ, or PokerStars MI. You will need to be located within the relevant state in order to play.

$200 No Deposit Bonus + 200 Free Spins In Your State
We have already established that the $200 no deposit bonus + 200 free spins real money bonus isn’t actually available, no matter which State you live in, but below we’ll tell you which is, in our opinion, the best casino sign-up bonus offer in your state (correct at the time of writing).
Best No Deposit Bonus or Free Spins in Michigan
The Wolverine State has introduced a number of new online casinos since becoming regulated and there are many Michigan online casino bonuses on offer.
The best offer you can get in Michigan is the one offered at BetMGM Casino. As well as a deposit match up to $1,000, there is also $25 in free credit just for signing up and verifying your account.
Best No Deposit Bonus or Free Spins in New Jersey
If you live in the state of New Jersey, then count yourself lucky. There are a number of New Jersey Online Casino bonuses for you to choose from, more so than in any other State.
You can get $20 and $25 by signing up at Borgata Casino and BetMGM Casino respectively, plus another bonus when you make your first deposit, and you can also get 250 free spins at PokerStars Casino for placing a bet of just $1.
Put yourself in an advantageous position by claiming all the offers listed on this page for New Jersey players (make sure you read the T&Cs and always gamble responsibly).
Best No Deposit Bonus or Free Spins in Pennsylvania
Players in Pennsylvania have some excellent options when it comes to registering with online casinos for the first time, with PA online casino bonuses available at FanDuel Casino, BetMGM Casino, and PokerStars Casino, among others.
The offer at FanDuel Casino might not include a No Deposit Bonus or Free Spins, but it is worth considering as one of the better bonuses in PA, as any losses you make in your first 24 hours will be refunded up to $1,000!
Best No Deposit Bonus or Free Spins in West Virginia
There are fewer online casinos in West Virginia than in some of the other States, but there are still some good online casino bonuses in WV for you to take advantage of. As well as the $25 on offer for signing up at BetMGM Casino, players in WV can get deposit match bonuses at both FanDuel Casino and BetRivers Casino.
$200 No Deposit Bonus + 200 Free Spins Real Money UK, EU & Canada
Much like in the US, the $200 No Deposit Bonus + 200 Free Spins Real Money isn’t actually available anywhere else, either, at least not in reputable and regulated casinos. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great offers out there.
If you’re in the UK, Europe, Canada or various other countries around the world where online casino betting is legal, then there are a number of casinos at which you can sign up to get no deposit bonus offers or free spins.
Right now, for players in the UK or EU, the best place to play with no deposit is 888casino, where you’ll find a huge range of slots, jackpot games as well as table casino games.

$200 No Deposit Bonus + 200 Free Spins Terms & Conditions and Wagering Requirements
As with anything when it comes to online gambling, when you sign up for a new online casino, you should always pay close attention to the terms and conditions and the play-through or wagering requirements.
Most sign-up bonus offers will come with wagering requirements (others include eligible games, max cashout, max bet, etc). To give a simple example, a 1x wagering requirement means that if you get a $25 free bonus cash, you need to wager $25 before you can withdraw (or continue playing).
However, in most cases, the wagering requirement is usually a bit higher. If you receive a $20 free money casino bonus with a 5x wagering requirement, you need to wager 5x $20 = $100. Note that table games like blackjack and roulette may have higher wagering requirements:

The first one-day €25,000 No-Limit Hold’em of the PokerStars 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona has come to an end and Felipe Ketzer beat a field of 28 players to win the top prize of €255,480 at Casino Barcelona.
Ketzer won the big bag from a total prize pool of €672,280. He was followed in second by Eduard Barsegyan and in third by Lei Yu. Kayhan Mokri and Ottomar Ladva rounded out the five cashing players.
Finishing just outside the money was Timothy Adams after his ace-eight lost to Mokri’s king-ten to burst the bubble. However, Adams’ lack of return is likely more digestible as he won $4.2 million at the beginning of the month thanks to his second Triton Poker Main Event victory.
The Canadian was joined by the two other players who made the final table but could not cash, Erik Seidel and Bruno Volkmann.

The Highlights
The day started with nine players registered, including all five players that cashed. Ketzer jumped out early and was one of the first players to double the starting stack, and by Level 4 it had nearly tripled.
Barsegyan was also among those that jumped to the top part of the leaderboard in the early going, thanks in part to a nut flush that eliminated Tom Orpaz. Adams also made early moves, including the double knockout of Orpaz and Daniel Rezaei. Orpaz got it in on his second bullet with ace-queen and Rezaei had fours, but the pocket jacks of Adams held on to take a big early pot.
The final table was reached in Level 14 and Seidel was the first exit just before the dinner break when his queen-jack lost to Ladva’s suited ace-eight. Ketzer maintained his lead throughout the early going, and seven-handed play stretched out as players looked to survive a tough bubble.
Barsegyan, who came into the final table with just 13 big blinds, picked up chips throughout seven-handed play and was the one to knock out Volkmann to send the tournament to the stone bubble.
Six-handed play continued for just over 30 minutes before Adams hit the rail to burst the bubble, while Barsegyan used the opportunity to jump into the chip lead after a clash with Ketzer. Within just a few minutes, Ladva hit the rail in fifth after his king-queen ran into Ketzer’s ace-queen.
Ketzer reclaimed the lead and Mokri doubled up in four-handed play, but he was the next to go when his king-five lost to Yu’s ace-eight. Yu, who battled in the middle of the pack throughout the day, was knocked out in third when he shoved with a pair of nines and lost to the suited king-five of Barsegyan.
Heads-up play started with a small margin for Ketzer, but an early nut flush gave him a comfortable lead. Barsegyan managed to find a small double, but it wasn’t enough. The big moment came when Ketzer’s king-four found three-of-a-kind to beat the king-five of Barsegyan.

It seems like Ravi Sheth can do nothing wrong at the poker table. He is enjoying a ridiculous purple patch that has seen him bank more than £230,000 in the first three weeks of August alone!
Sheth cashed in the £770 Monster Stack at the WSOPC Super Circuit London before making his way to Coventry for the Goliath festival where he finished in the money in the £550 buy-in Goliath Cup. Sheth returned to his London home, where he reeled in an impressive £140,000 score for his fourth-place finish in the £3,300 WSOPC Super Circuit Main Event finish.
Earlier this week, Sheth triumphed in the £550 GUKPT Midi Main Event at The Vic, London, a result worth £48,550. Yesterday, Sheth completed a GUKPT London double by being the last player standing in the £330 Mini Main Event, adding another £39,258 to his recent winnings tally.

Seasoned veteran Willie Tann cashed. As did the 2023 PokerNews Cup champion John Kelly, the 2022 Goliath Main Event winner Kyle Jeffrey, and Timothy Chung.
Steve Warburton was the final table’s first casualty; “Warbs” busted in ninth for £2,450.
Thomas Clack saw his tournament end in eighth place for £2,925 before Sotiris Georgiou was eliminated in seventh for £3,395.
Sixth place and £4,820 went to Brandon Sheils, who finished sixth in the tournament that Sheth won earlier in the week. Troy McEntee and Ayshe Hakki joined the list of busted players, and made their way to the cashier’s desk to collect £6,640 and £10,425, respectively.
The penultimate elimination of the tournament was that of Matthew Davenport, a regular on the GUKPT circuit. Late last month, Davenport became the GUKPT Coventry Main Event champion, which earned the popular pro a career-best £116,200. Davenport had to settled for a £16,435 prize this time around.
Sheth faced Andrew Christoforou heads-up. Christoforou burst onto the poker scene in 2016 after finished 18th in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event for $338,288. He has had dozens of impressive results since, including a handful of runner-up finishes in the English capital. He had to make do with another bridesmaid finish in this event, falling at the hands of the seemingly unstoppable Sheth in the one-on-one battle.
Christoforou received £27,245 for this second place finish, leaving Sheth to help himself to a £39,258 top prize and another trophy for his mantlepiece.
Remaining 2023 GUKPT London Schedule
Plenty of events are yet to run at The Vic, including the £1,250 buy-in Main Event. A similarly-sized tournament ran at The Vic in mid-January 2023, and saw 459 players create a £475,750 prize pool. That tournament ended in a three-way deal involving third-place finisher Devan Patel (£98,800), runner-up Calogero Morreale (£65,950), and champion Jonathan McCann (£89,600).
The first of three Main Event Day 1s shuffles up and deals at 12:00 p.m. BST on August 24, with Day 1b starting at the same time on August 25. A last-chance turbo-structured Day 1c is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. BST on August 25.
The trio of opening events for the 2023 World Series of Poker Online on GGPoker have come to their conclusion, which has seen three players add their names to the long list of bracelet winners from the last couple of months.
The series, which began on August 20 and runs until October 2, hosts 33 bracelet events with buy-ins that vary from $108 to $25,000. The $5,000 WSOP Online Main Event headlines the festival and comes with a massive $25 million guarantee. The first starting flight has already played out, with 30 players booking their spot for Day 2, which gets going on September 25.
$108 Bankroll Builder Bounty NLH
Or “Nezer21” Nezer claimed the first WSOP bracelet on offer after taking down #1: $108 Bankroll Builder Bounty. The Israeli topped the 7,619-entry field to win his maiden piece of WSOP hardware after he beat compatriot “Micros” in heads-up play.
Nezer tore up the competition and ended up with a bounty prize of $27,554, which was added to his $31,330 payout for a final score $58,884.
The payout falls short of his biggest-ever live cash, which stands at $63,215. That prize was awarded to him after he bowed out in second place at a side event at the 2021 Swiss Poker Open.
Nezer’s poker journey appears to be in its infancy, with his first live cash recorded in 2018, but since then, he’s accrued a respectable $151,073 in live cashes. Now, with poker’s most sought-after accolade on his wrist, the Israeli will no doubt be looking to add a major live win to his fledgling career.
The opening bracelet event had a $761,900 prize pool, with 50% allocated towards the payouts and the remainder used as bounties. The top 800 players made the paid places, with the min-cash set at $124.
Kevin Martin (611th – $143+$150), Shannon Shorr (181st – $336+$100) and Kelvin Kerber (16th – $1,619+$1,378) were just some of the notable names to make the money.

Gladiators of Poker Breaks $2.5M Guarantee
Going into the Last Chance flight of the #2: $300 Gladiators of Poker Opener, the $2.5 million guarantee had yet to have been eclipsed. But thanks to the 1,085 entries in the final qualifier, the prize pool milestone was surpassed, with the final kitty confirmed at $2,647,152.
From the 9,488 total entries, just 1,135 had made Day 2 and the paid places to lock up the $651 min-cash.
After successfully navigating the first hurdle, Vinicius Steves became the last player standing to secure his WSOP bracelet as well as Brazil’s 26th. Along with the honors and glory, Steves also banked the $234,707 first-place prize after seeing off Maher Achour in heads-up play.
Steves came into the final table as the second shortest stack but managed to ladder up and survive various all-ins to shoot out the chip count leaderboard.

Koliakov Reigns Supreme in First Championship Event
#3: $2,100 Bounty NLH Championship was the first championship event of the series and saw the spoils head to Russia, with Sergei “Meruemu” Koliakov walking away as the victor. Like Nezer and Steves, Koliakov became a first-time bracelet winner and pocketed $158,345 thanks to his efforts on the virtual felt.
Koliakov is an online specialist by trade and had 29 recorded cashes in online WSOP events prior to this year’s edition kicking off. A majority of those scores were for four figures, with two breaching the five-figure mark. His payout for his win is almost eight times as much as his biggest recorded score on The Hendon Mob. The Russian collected $20,185 in last year’s Online Main Event from his 220th-place finish.
Dicky “Floatinworld” Tsang was the player pipped to the title and had to settle for the $59,547 runners-up prize along with an additional $25,641 in bounties.
The Bounty Championship is the biggest event to play out in the series so far and saw 667 entries. This saw $1,354,000 collected for the prize pool, which had a 50/50 split between the payouts and bounties like the opening event.

“krxlkrxl53” Bags Best in Day 1a of Main Event
The first qualifier for the Main Event has also wrapped up amidst the opening events of the series. “krxlkrxl53” (2,107,591) ended proceedings as chip leader and was the only player to finsish with a stack greater than two million.
It should come as no surprise to those who follow the online streets closely that Thomas Muehloecker and Sami Kelopuro were able to make Day 2 at the first time of asking. The duo bagged and tagged stacks good enough to make it into the top ten.
In total, 30 of the 258 players survived the first stage. Michael Jozoff (206,070) was also another notable name to advance, while the likes of Rodrigo Selouan, Alex Kulev and Artur Martirosian found themselves on the wrong side of the rail.
They’ll be able to have another throw of the dice in Day 1b of the Main Event, which is scheduled for August 27 at 7:30 p.m. (BST).

Calum has been a part of the PokerNews team since September 2021 after working in the UK energy sector. He played his first hand of poker in 2017 and immediately fell in love with the game. Calum’s proudest poker achievement is winning the only tournament he has ever played in Las Vegas, the prestigious $60 Flamingo evening event.
Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk will battle it out for $200,000 on PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel 4 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Thursday night, and one player will be looking to get some revenge over a past seven-figure defeat against the other.
In May, Negreanu defeated Eric Persson in Round 1, a $50,000-per-person buy-in. The losing player declined a rematch, which left the seat open for the Round 2 contest.
High Stakes Duel pots double each round with only the losing or replacement player on the hook to increase the prize pool. As such, Polk owes $100,000 to enter the game. Negreanu’s win over Persson was his first on the show in four tries. He lost three straight to Phil Hellmuth in 2021 for a net deficit of $350,000.
Avenging a Previous Defeat
For years, Polk and Negreanu were hated rivals, often bickering on social media. Eventually, they agreed to a high-stakes heads-up challenge — $200/$400 blinds across 25,000 hands — on WSOP.com beginning in 2020. The first session, dubbed “High Stakes Feud,” was the only live poker session of the challenge and it aired on PokerGO.
Negreanu, a heavy underdog to win the competition, booked a win on High Stakes Feud and would build a lead of more than $180,000 after the first few online sessions. But it was mostly downhill from there for the Poker Hall of Famer. He wasn’t up to the task against arguably the top heads-up player of all-time and inevitably lost $1.2 million, the equivalent of 30 bug-ins.
Since that challenge ended in February 2021, the former bitter rivals have become friendly and no longer have animosity towards each other. But the upcoming High Stakes Duel match, which kicks off Thursday at 5 p.m. PT on PokerGO, could be Negreanu’s opportunity to get some of that seven-figure loss back from the co-owner of The Lodge Card Club in Texas.
It’s unknown just how deep the game will go beyond Round 2 as both players told PokerNews they haven’t agreed to anything beyond the initial match. Per the rules, if Negreanu wins a second match he can quit, but Polk, if he were to win, would need to offer a rematch (any participant must win two in a row before they can cash out). Should the two continue on to Round 3, the player who loses Round 2 must add $200,000 to double the pot.
The upcoming match will be quite different from the online battle in terms of variance and format. Although Negreanu has improved his heads-up game since the original challenge began three years ago, it’s likely Polk still holds over an edge when it comes to heads-up no-limit hold’em. But in the High Stakes Duel format, the game is sit ‘n go style with the blinds escalating, and fewer hands per hour will be dealt live versus online.
Even Polk admits there’s minimal skill in a one-off match such as this, although he may have a slightly larger edge long-term if there are multiple rematches. On High Stakes Duel, if the players are willing to continue on until it ends, the final match would be for a $12.8 million prize pool in Round 8. Through the first HSD series of games, Round 5 ($1.6 million) is the deepest it has gone, and that took place last December when Jason Koon dominated the match and knocked off Hellmuth.
While we don’t know how far the upcoming High Stakes Duel battle between Polk and Negreanu will go, it should be an entertaining game even if it’s just a one-off.
The latest World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) champion was crowned this week in Northern California as Michael Persky took down the inaugural WSOPC Graton Main Event for $175,595.
The first-ever Circuit stop at Graton Casino & Resort ran Aug. 10-21 and consisted of 20 Circuit ring events. The $1,700 buy-in drew 616 entrants for a prize pool of $933,240.
Persky, a native of Novato, California, defeated Thailand’s Dan Sarasin during heads-up play as the runner-up was denied a maiden bracelet and took home $100,528. Meanwhile, five-time Circuit ring winner Jasthi Kumar finished third for $80,135 and New York grinder Benjamin Ludlow finished ninth for $16,868.

Memorial First Stop At Graton
Persky was dominant at WSOPC Graton even before he took down the Main Event for his first ring and a career-best score.
At the start of the series, Persky finished 20th in Event #1: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Big 30K Stack for $1,077 before going on to finish runner-up in Event #3: $600 No-Limit Hold’em for $54,900. In that event, Persky fell to fellow Californian Albert Gorelik, who took home $88,888 and his second Circuit ring before winning Event #12: $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em for $30,004 and a third ring.
And Persky wasn’t the only player to dominate at the inaugural Northern California Circuit stop. Longtime Circuit crusher Ari Engel picked up his 14th and 15th rings in back-to-back events to tie Maurice Hawkins in first on the all-time ring list, which PokerNews wrote about here.
Further shifting the all-time Circuit ring list, Daniel Lowery took down Event #13: $1,125 Pot-Limit Omaha for a 14th Circuit ring and $21,518, which can be read about here.
Those were hardly the only highlights. As the series wound down, Allen Kessler took down Event #15: $400 Stud 8 / Omaha 8 for $18,810 and his fourth Circuit ring after a decade-long drought. Before that, Southern California grinder Shirley Rosario won Event #8: $400 Limit Omaha 8 for $9,193 and her third Circuit ring.
Other players who picked up rings at WSOPC Graton include Albert Tapia (Event #9: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack – $40,950), Ian Mckinnon (Event #4: $400 No-Limit Hold’em – $25,323) and Taylor Pollard (Event #18: $3,250 High Roller – $60,641).

Stephen Kehoe Turns WPT Global Satellite Win Into $269,900
WPT World Championship Satellites Online at WPT Global
Satellites for the $10,400 WPT World Championship have been running online at WPT Global since late July and will continue to do so up to the start of the live event in December.
Feeder satellites from only $5 feed into direct qualifiers, which cost $220 and $1,060 to enter and run every Sunday for the foreseeable future. At least one WPT World Championship package, worth $12,400, is guaranteed in each direct qualifier. Capture a package to receive a $10,400 seat in the 2023 WPT World Championship plus a $2,000 travel stipend.
You are forgiven for incorrectly thinking that satellite winners do not go on and make big money from the tournaments they win their way into. In 2022, Ireland’s Stephen Kehoe won his way into the WPT World Championship from a $550 satellite WPT Global hosted. Kehoe navigated his way through most of the field, eventually coming unstuck in 14th place and reeling in a bankroll-boosting $269,900 score.
What to Expect From the WPT World Championship
Last year’s WPT World Championship saw the World Poker Tour slap a $15 million guarantee on its prize pool, the largest guarantee on any live event ever. Any thoughts that the ambitious guarantee would be missed were soon dashed, thanks to 2,960 entries creating a $29,008,000 prize pool! The purse was so large that six players became instant millionaires!
Canada’s Eliot Hudon defeated Benny Glaser heads-up to claim the $4,136,000 top prize and a place in the Word Poker Tour’s history books. British superstar Glaser was obviously disappointed not to return home with the winner’s trophy in tow, but we are sure the $2,830,000 runner-up prize went some way to numbing the pain.
