Mathias is a stunning, black, elegant pony who is truly a diamond in the rough. Mathias was a joint rescue with New Hampshire Equine Humane Association. Mathias suffered from an abscessed tooth that had gone unnoticed until he had lost a severe amount of weight. His medical needs at that point with the weight loss and the extent of the infection became too costly for the owners. Mathias came into the care of E.P.O.N.A. and began treatment immediately. A nutritional program was put into place and Mathias was on the road to recovery. With the combination of medical attention, good nutrition and the fact that Mathias was still a colt, he quickly became a fresh little guy. Mathias was gelded several months ago and is adjusting to a new attitude on life. He is gorgeous, he is extremely bright, he is very talented and he has a very high regard for himself. Mathias is two and one-half years old and will be available for adoption in the coming months ahead. For future adoption contact the E.P.O.N.A. center. Contributions for Mathiass care can be made through E.P.O.N.A. |
Equinox is a three-year-old Quarter horse cross that was rescued through the efforts of New Hampshire Equine Humane Association. Due to behavioral issues Equinox was deemed unsafe and was a candidate for euthanasia. As a last effort she was entrusted to the care of E.P.O.N.A. for an evaluation and rehabilitation if possible. We are pleased that Equinox is responding quite well and should be available for adoption in the coming months. She will require an experienced handler and rider. Equinox is physically sound and has a bright future ahead of her. For adoption information, contact our adoption center. Contributions to the care of Equinox can be made through E.P.O.N.A. |
Misha is another rescue from the New Holland auction in PA. She is an eighteen-year-old Appaloosa pony. Misha came from the auction extremely sick. She was lethargic, under weight, had an elevated fever, and a great deal of nasal discharge. She was not strong enough to take the trip to New Hampshire directly from the auction, so through the generosity of Lisa Copp, another horse rescue in PA, Misha spent a few additional weeks regaining her health and strength. Misha had pneumonia, but has recovered and is doing great. She has put on a great deal of weight. Now that Misha is feeling better we no longer have the frail, lethargic pony. Misha is quite a gal for a pony her age. She is very vocal at feeding time. She has strong attachment issues to |
other horses and the barn. She can be ridden, but needs a strong rider. The first time that we rode Misha, she reared constantly. The focus of her rearing was not related to fear, or an attempt to unseat the rider. It was blind determination to return to the barn and her stall. The more that Misha has been ridden the less determined she has become in her attempts to return to the barn. She appears to be more comfortable in a ring setting rather than out on the trail. We have had her on the trail, and she is good, she has gone through water, over culverts with running water. Her anxiety level is higher on the trail, but perhaps with more trail work she will become more comfortable. Misha will be available for adoption in the coming few months. She will require an experienced rider. For future adoption contact the E.P.O.N.A. adoption center. Contributions to Mishas care can be made through E.P.O.N.A. |
