The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) released the complete online poker revenue results from 2022, and they show an 8.5% decline year-over-year. But that isn’t cause for concern nor should it be viewed as a downward trend for the industry.
Instead, it was simply a return to normalcy for online poker in the Garden State coming down from the COVID boom.
Back in 2020, starting with March when casinos were shut down, the state generated a record $3.6 million in revenue from its three New Jersey poker operators. The following two months were even better, reaching as high as $5.1 million in April 2020 and $4.8 million in July before leveling off to figures that were closer to previous years to close out the year.
In 2021, as more live poker rooms began to reopen in Atlantic City and in neighboring states (Pennsylvania, mostly), online poker revenue was still a bit higher than pre-COVID figures, with most months in the $2.3 million to $2.4 million range. For the year, the seven legal poker sites generated a combined $29,923,710 in revenue, the best overall year, excluding 2020, since internet poker was legalized in 2013.

How 2022 New Jersey Online Poker Compared to 2021
There are three poker operators with a combined seven poker sites licensed to operate in New Jersey — Borgata (Partypoker, BetMGM, PalaPoker, Borgata Poker), Resorts Atlantic City (PokerStars), and Caesars Atlantic City (WSOP, 888poker).
Each of the three poker operators generates a solid amount of revenue, exceeding $500,000 monthly, with Caesars reaching close to the $1 million mark during the World Series of Poker due to hosting online bracelet events.
In 2022, New Jersey online poker revenue hit $27,374,502, down approximately 8.5% compared to 2021 ($2,549,208). That’s not so bad when you consider live poker was mostly back to full strength in 2022.
When compared to 2019, pre-COVID, 2022’s revenue was more than a 30% improvement. The largest drop-off year-over-year when comparing 2022 to 2021 results was July, which saw a 25.9% decline. But that was almost certainly due to the 13 online bracelet events hosted last summer in New Jersey. The full month-by-month comparison is below.
The announcement has come after the Florida Gaming Control Commission has given the green light for the transfer of all assets and gaming licenses held by the casino’s current owners to the authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. The latter is the only Indian Tribe in Alabama recognized by the federal authorities.
More Expansion Opportunities
According to the newly inked agreement, Wind Creek Hospitality’s wholly-owned subsidiary Gretna Racing, LLC will be extending its presence in another big metropolitan area in the US by penetrating the Miami, Florida market with its land-based games.
Wind Creek parent Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ chief executive officer and tribal Stephanie Bryan called their expansion in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Florida in recent news will bring the tribe more growth chances. Bryan also spoke about their excitement to become a “valued partner in the Miami community.”
Thanks to the fresh brick-and-mortar facility in Miami, Wind Creek Hospitality will enjoy the perks of joining a “new and vibrant market”.
What the Future Holds
The organization that manages the tribe’s gaming facilities has announced that it will not disrupt operations at Magic City Casino in the near future. At the same time, they announced they would make a few changes to the venue. Among them, is the inclusion of Magic City players in the Wind Creek Rewards and Express Offers loyalty programs by the end of the current year.
As stated by Wind Creek’s chief executive officer and president Jay Dorris, Southern Florida is naturally connected to their properties in the Florida Panhandle, Aruba & Curacao, and Alabama. Dorris added that the casino’s location next to the International Airport in Miami turns it into an excellent place for players at all Wind Creek properties.
At the moment, Wind Creek Hospitality is responsible for managing Wind Creek Chicago Southland, a 70,000-square-foot casino hosting 1,350 slot machines and 56 table games expected to attract 800 jobs in the south suburban area.
The organization also manages the Aruba, Bethlehem, Atmore, Curacao, Montgomery, and Wetumpka venues, along with Nevada’s Wa She Shu Casino location, the racetracks in Florida, Alabama and Casinoverse, which is Wind Creek’s new fantasy gaming app.
The group that tries to turn guests’ mundane lives into a fantasy universe packed with games and engaging entertainment inked a multi-year partnership with the Chicago Bulls, agreeing to give the teams’ fans an enhanced experience at the new East Hazel Crest & Homewood casino.

More than 9,000 players turned out in force for the first 8-Max PKO Mini Bounty Builder, ensuring the $400,000 guaranteed prize pool was surpassed by $10,731. All that extra prize money in the pot resulted in the top four finishers walking away with five-figure scores for their $50 investment; sixth place was only just short of $10,000+, too.
“Rakete222” of Germany finished fourth and walked away with $11,102, third-place went to Brazil’s “ricardorfn,” a finish worth $15,543. The runner-up was “Sm0k3_I_T799” of Germany; they banked $24,848. “Jakub_Odvar” was the tournament’s champion. Victory came with $34,810, which is still the largest single cash of the 50/50 Series through the opening 25 events.

Remaining PokerStars 50/50 Series Schedule
Twenty-five remain on the schedule, and each one will be fiercely contested, especially the two-day Main Event that comes with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Main Event commences at 5:30 p.m. GMT this Sunday, which is February 12. Will you become the 50/50 Series Main Event champion?
Under the terms of the new deal, announced Thursday, the company will operate a sportsbook location that has the potential to grow and become a sportsbook within a hotel. The new venue is located at 2700 New York Avenue NE in Washington, DC and according to Elys, will be managed along with M. Jones and Company, an organization described as a “DC Certified Business Enterprise.”
Michele Ciavarella, Elys’ executive chairman, said that the company is excited to join forces with T & L Hospitality in Washington for the operation of this new location. He explained that the new venue has a strategic location considering it is at the border of DC and Maryland and can be accessed by customers from the two states.
“We are thrilled to partner with T & L Hospitality to operate this exciting new venue in Washington, DC, and being situated along the border of DC and MD, makes this venue accessible to players from both states.“
Michele Ciavarella, executive chairman at Elys Game Technology
The New Outlet Is Expected to Offer Plenty of Amenities
The new retail sports betting location is planned to have what Elys described as an “express betting area” where visitors can use the company’s Build-Your-Bet mobile tool that enables them to walk in and scan a QR code that finalizes their wager. At the same time, the location would have a 4,9000-square-foot lounge as well.
Besides the sportsbook lounge, the retail betting location is planned to have an additional restaurant area of 6,990 square feet that would offer a bar, as well as a VIP area. According to Elys, the new retail sportsbook would offer plenty of convenient options for bettors that want to place a fast wager, as well as sports fans that may be interested in sticking around and socializing. Visitors that prefer to go by car would be able to use parking that can fit up to 200 vehicles.
Initially, the agreement between the two companies is for a term of two years from the start of the sports betting activities. However, this agreement can be extended two times for two years at a time. It is important to mention that prior to commencing the activity licensing is needed.
“We look forward to continuing our sportsbook expansion within restaurants and bars in DC and neighboring states over the coming months.“
added Ciavarella
Elys’ chairman explained that the new location further complements the company’s growth. Ciavarella pointed out that Elys has already gained positive momentum in DC and plans to keep it. Finally, he predicted that Elys will continue to expand by offering such convenient locations that help boost local businesses.
Casinos symbolize unbridled consumerism and unimaginable wealth, but have you ever wondered just how much revenue these icons of avarice generate? We’ve taken a look at these international monuments to money and compiled a summary of the world’s top ten most profitable land-based casinos. Our rankings include both stand-alone properties and gaming conglomerates, taking into consideration their complete entertainment offerings alongside their gaming profits.
1. Las Vegas Sands Corporation – $13.7 Billion per annum
No other company on our list can compete with the way Las Vegas Sands blazes pathways to profit, making it the biggest earning casino group in the world. Long-term CEO Sheldon Adelson founded LVS in 1989 with the purchase of The Sands Hotel. He created the now ubiquitous concept of the casino/convention center hybrid with the opening of the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in 1990. He continued revolutionizing the profit game when The Sands Macao Resort, Macau’s first American-operated casino, opened in 2004.
LVS is also the only company on this list that has its own fleet of private aircraft dedicated to transporting executive directors, High Rollers, and VIPs. That kind of ingenuity coupled with world-class gaming floors in their 6 casinos brought in an estimated $13.7 billion in 2018 and 2019.
2. MGM Resorts – $12.89 Billion p.a.
With its roots going back to the late 1960s, MGM Resorts has had more name changes and corporate overhauls than any other entity on this list. (If you want to go down that particular rabbit hole, we recommend a stiff drink and several hours…) They are the Strip’s largest casino operator, owning all or a portion of 7 Las Vegas Strip casinos as well as 7 regional casinos throughout 6 states.
They operate in Macau and have announced future planned expansions into Japan and The UAE. In 2010 they declared a shift towards non-gaming revenue sources (lodging, food, and retail), and other entertainment/ hospitality venues (most notably The Park and TMobile Arena). That shift away from a purely gaming-focused business model seems to be working as MGM Resorts raked in a reported $12.89 billion in 2019.
3. Caesars Entertainment – $8.74 Billion p.a.
Caesars is one of the oldest names in casino entertainment, beginning as a single bingo parlor in Reno, NV in 1937. When they combined with El Dorado Resorts 83 years later in 2020, they became the largest gaming company in the US. They have grown their original modest offering into a portfolio of over 50 casinos in 13 states, 5 countries, and 4 continents.
Each property has its own distinct ambiance with diversified amenities that encompass just about any (legal!) need or want the patrons could dream up. Caesars’ immense holdings rake in around $8.74 billion in profit every year.
4. Galaxy Macau – $8 Billion p.a.
If this list only included stand-alone casinos, Galaxy Macau would be the undisputed Number One. With annual revenue of over $8 billion in 2019, Galaxy Macau has repeatedly held the title of The Most Profitable Casino in the World since its 2011 opening.
As part of the larger Galaxy Entertainment Group, this fully integrated casino resort spans over 11.8 million square feet. The property boasts over 3000 hotel rooms, 120 restaurants, and over 200 luxury retail brands. They didn’t skimp on their gaming floor either.
This premier destination has 650 tables, 1500 slot machines, and a high roller area second to none in the world. Interestingly, Galaxy began as a construction company in 1988 and their continued diversified holdings in construction management are credited with helping them to weather the global shutdowns.
5. Wynn Resorts – $6 Billion p.a.
Wynn Resorts was founded in 2002 by the former Chairman and CEO of Mirage Resorts Steve Wynn, and Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada. Under their relatively brief tenures (Okada resigned in 2011, Wynn in 2018), they opened 5 luxury properties in Macau and Las Vegas. The company opened its 6th property in Massachusetts in 2019, after Steve Wynn’s unceremonious departure. They have announced plans for a 7th luxury property in the UAE with a tentative opening date of 2026.
Despite the plethora of ugly headlines about the founder’s behavior, the properties themselves are the epitome of luxury and class. All 6 casino properties are fully integrated resorts with amenities ranging from high-end shopping malls and lush golf courses to 5-star restaurants and spas. Global total revenues are reportedly $6+ billion for 2019.
6. Melco Resorts Entertainment – $5.7 Billion p.a.
Previously known as Melco Crown Entertainment, Melco Resorts was founded in 2004 with a sole focus on Macau gaming ventures. Eight years later they expanded into the Philippine market with the City of Dreams Manilla. They continued in 2018 with a license to build the City of Dream Mediterranean, which will be the largest casino resort in Europe when it opens (as of this writing, CODM does not have a confirmed opening date).
Starting in 2018 Melco began pumping large sums of money into non-gaming projects in Japan such as a ski resort and an onsen spa. Combined revenue from their 6 integrated casino resorts, 7 slot machine parlors (known as “Mocha Clubs”), and numerous Japanese hospitality venues was estimated at $5.7 billion in 2019.
7. PENN Entertainment – $5.3 Billion p.a.
PENN Entertainment (formerly Penn National Gaming) began as a small racetrack operator in 1972. They now lay claim to North America’s largest portfolio of regional casinos and resorts with 43 physical locations (including the famous Greektown Casino in Detroit, MI), and a formidable online presence.
In 2020 they purchased a 36% stake in Barstool Sports and cemented their place as a leader in integrated gaming and entertainment. Their forward-thinking approach and embrace of new technologies generate approx $5.1 -$5.3 billion each year.
8. SJM Holdings – $4.27 Billion p.a.
SJM Holdings Limited is one of the six concessionaires authorized to operate casinos and gaming areas in Macau, officially incorporated in 2001. They currently operate 13 casinos and 4 hotels, including their flagship casino, The Grand Lisboa. Situated on the island of Se, Macau, the Grand Lisboa’s distinctive golden Lotus shape has defined the city’s skyline since its opening in 2008.
Its 47-floor, 1350-room hotel towers above all other structures (sources vary on the exact number of rooms and the exact height of the tower), and is an internationally recognized landmark. The property offers a well-known cabaret, celebrity restaurants, designer shopping, indoor/outdoor pools, a spa and 1000 slot machines, and 800 tables.
This type of international recognition and high-end gaming experiences throughout all their properties generated $4.27 billion in revenue in 2019.
9. Marina Bay Sands – $2-3 Billion p.a.
One of the only stand-alone casinos on our list, Marina Bay Sands is owned by the (previously mentioned) Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Its innovative design was based on the deck of a ship, with three hotel towers meant to invoke stacks of playing cards. This behemoth of a casino has held numerous superlative records since its 2011 opening, including the World’s Largest Atrium Casino and the Most Profitable Casino in Singapore.
Like all of the casinos on the list, it goes beyond mere gambling and provides amenities ranging from movie theaters, a colossal infinity pool, celebrity-owned restaurants, a fully integrated museum, a massive shopping mall, and a convention center. Undoubtedly, however, Marina Bay Sands’ main attraction is its boast-worthy casino floor with 1000 gaming tables and 1400 slot machines. All in all, these features brought in between $2 to $3 billion in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
10. Boyd Gaming – $1.93 Billion p.a.
Boyd Gaming was founded as a family-owned company in Paradise, Nevada in 1975. After 40+ years they have evolved into a multi-billion dollar entertainment corporation. Their portfolio includes more than 100 successful restaurants and dozens of showrooms.
They operate 28 gaming properties in 10 states as well as a single Tribal casino in northern California. They are also a 5% equity owner in FanDuel Group, one of the largest sports-betting operators in the US. Boyd Gaming’s annual gross profit for 2021 was $1.93 billion.
**Please note that while every effort has been made to be factually accurate, financial figures from 2020-2022 are often available, unreliable, or unbelievable. The global shutdowns affected the gaming and hospitality industries particularly hard. We have chosen to focus on figures from 2018 – early 2020 in our attempt to accurately reflect the general standings of these properties. With that in mind, please enjoy this list but refrain from citing it in your college dissertation**

Keep the Love Growing and the Wins Coming
Power of Love is played on a 5×4 grid that counts up to 80 payline. The action carries players in the middle of a retro love story in the 1950s. Players will get to experience the rockabilly music in the background, the inimitable Hollywood charm ruling over the scenery, and a red-colored background ruled by none other than Cupid watching over from a floating cloud.
The design features a Love Meter to the right while the dashing lady and her suave gentleman partner take over the stage on the reels packed with small tokens of love including hearts, diamonds, and roses.
Yggdrasil’s head of product and programs Stuart McCarthy has expressed their delight to be able to launch the new game right in time for the upcoming holiday that celebrates love. McCarthy spoke about the mix of exciting features and the “love amorous” theme that players are prone to instantly fall in love with as soon as they start playing it.
Reel Life Games’ chief executive officer Andy Kniaz has also expressed their excitement to introduce a new game as part of the YG Masters program. Kniaz also spoke about their long-term partnership with Yggdrasil which has already enabled them to “create fantastic gaming experiences” while expressing confidence that the new game would turn into another high-performance title.
Power of Love Is Packed with Features
The slot keeps players engaged with a series of valuable features, including Love is in the Air, Love is Popping, and Love Grows. While playing the base game, the Power of Love symbol represents the Wild that increases players’ chances to create winning paylines.
When two halves of a heart are seen landing on consecutive reels, the Love Meter fills up. Once it reaches its full height, the special features become active on the selection screen.
The three features mentioned earlier can also be used in stacks and work together to generate massive win opportunities.
The Love is Popping feature will trigger between two and 20 Wild symbols to land on the reels while all the heart symbols will be turned into Wilds.
Love is in the Air is a symbol improvement feature that turns all selected symbols into matching symbols that are more valuable. The same feature also triggers two Wild symbols to land on the reels.
Love Grows is an expanding reel feature that will change the height of the reels and enable the grid to reach 5×8 in size while doubling the number of active paylines.
When three bonus symbols are seen landing during a spin, players receive seven Free Spins that can stack all three features for the remainder of the bonus round.
Last September, Yggdrasil and Reel Life Games teamed up to launch Midway Money, a festive slot with a huge payout potential.
The eagerly anticipated 2023 Kings of Tallinn festival is on the horizon, with the luxurious Olympic Park Casino and Hilton Tallinn Park set to host a schedule of 53 poker tournaments between February 23 and March 5.
Renowned tournament director and Kings of Tallinn founder Teresa Nousiainen has created a fantastic 2023 Kings of Tallinn schedule that features more than half a dozen poker variants, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Open Face Chinese Pineapple, 8-Game Mix, and one of the craziest poker games of them all Sviten Special.
Buy-ins for the 53 scheduled events start at an affordable €60 and increase to a €3,000 High Roller, with plenty of levels between those two extremes. Of course, there are satellites taking place throughout the festival, and some of those Kings of Tallinn satellites are free to enter, which is not something you see every day! The Olympic Casino Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovakia also have a large selection of live satellites, meaning players from these countries can secure a seat before they head to the Kings of Tallinn festival.
Estonian, Finnish, and Latvian players can play online satellites at OlyBet Poker, while some other Nordic players, Maltese, and Polish grinders can find satellites online at GGPoker.
€500,000 Guaranteed Kings of Tallinn Main Event
The crown jewel on the 2023 Kings of Tallinn schedule is the €1,100 buy-in €500,000 guaranteed Main Event. Running from March 1-5, the Kings of Tallinn Main Event features a trio of starting flights, each seeing entrants sit down with 30,000 chips and play to 60-minute levels on Day 1a and Day 1b, with Day 1c featuring a 30-minute clock. Unlimited re-entries are available until the start of the second level on Day 2, giving you plenty of opportunity to take another bite at the €500,000 cherry.
The last time the Kings of Tallinn Main Event featured a €500,000 prize pool was in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Some 674 players created a guarantee-busting prize pool of €640,300, with Sweden’s Johan Karlsson collecting €126,900 of that juicy pot.

The Team Challenge returns for the 2023 Kings of Tallinn festival and could see your team walk away with approximately €20,000. Enter the Team Challenge via the Kings of Tallinn website before the first break of the Main Event Day 1b, which will be 2:15 p.m. local time on March 2, and you stand a chance of winning some additional prize money.
Your team of four earns points for just playing in any of the non-satellite and non-ladies Kings of Tallinn events and even more points for cashing in those events. Some 75% of the Team Challenge prize pool goes to the winning team, with the runner-up scooping the remaining 25%. That prize pool is funded by 2% of all Kings of Tallinn tournament prize pools going towards it.

Football fans love a stat but, as the saying goes, the only stat that matters is the score. So, which quarterback has amassed the most in NFL history?
We take a look at the top 10 in this article, as well as in the game that matters the most – the Super Bowl. Who are the top touchdown performers in the big show? Keep reading to find out.
Most Touchdowns By A Quarterback
Unsurprisingly, the top 10 touchdown scorers in the history of the NFL are all quarterbacks. Jerry Rice has the most career touchdowns for a non-quarterback with 208, but he’s not even close to beating the no.10 on our list.
Note: All stats in this article are for regular-season games only.
10. Eli Manning (2004-2019) – 373
Sorry to ruin the surprise; this isn’t the only Manning brother on this list (but more on that later).
Former 2x Super Bowl champ and no.1 draft pick Eli Manning sits at number 10 on the list of total career touchdowns. In his NFL career, he clocked an impressive 373 total touchdowns (366 passing, 7 rushing) and 57,023 yards.
9. Matt Ryan (2008-present) – 394
The NFL MVP from 2016, Matt Ryan has had an outstanding career despite never picking up a Super Bowl ring (don’t mention Super Bowl LI).
Up to the end of the 2022/23 season, he has a total of 394 career touchdowns (381 passing, 13 rushing).
8. Dan Marino (1983-1999) 420
Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino is another who makes the all-time TD list without ever claiming football’s ultimate prize.
At the time of his retirement, Marino had a list of NFL records as long as your arm, but they have been slowly whittled away by the remaining QBs on this list.
In total, Marino recorded 429 career touchdowns (420 passing, 9 rushing).
7. Philip Rivers (2004-2020) – 424
In his time with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Phillip Rivers started an awesome 224 consecutive games (2006-2019).
This longevity and durability, combined with his passing skill, accounted for a total of 424 career touchdowns (421 passing, 3 rushing).
👉 How Many Kids Has Philip Rivers Got?
6. Ben Roethlisberger (2004-2021) – 438
“Big Ben” spent his entire 15-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and he enjoyed a lot of success.
Roethlisberger got his hands on two Super Bowl trophies and had great connections with his receivers. He has a career total of 438 touchdowns (418 passing, 20 rushing).
5. Aaron Rodgers (2005-present) – 510
Another one team man, Aaron Rodgers has had a glittering NFL career that includes a Super Bowl ring, a Super Bowl MVP, and 4 NFL MVP trophies.
Rodgers is still active, so he could add to his career total, but at the time of writing, he has 510 total touchdowns (475 passing, 35 rushing).
4. Brett Favre (1991-2010) – 522
Like no.5 on the list, no.4 is occupied by a famous Green Bay Packers QB, Brett Farve.
And like all of the other players on this list, the Super Bowl XXXI champ’s career touchdowns is in a large part thanks to his longevity.
In 20 seasons in the NFL, Farve recorded 522 total touchdowns (508 passing, 14 rushing).
3. Peyton Manning (1998-2015) – 557
The Manning brothers occupy the no.10 and no.3 spots on our list of all-time NFL touchdowns. Not bad for one family.
Like Eli, Peyton Manning was a no.1 draft pick when he entered the NFL and has two Super Bowl rings to his name. He has a career total of 557 touchdowns (539 passing, 18 rushing).
2. Drew Brees (2001-2020) – 596
Only a select few players have spent more time in the NFL than Drew Brees.
“Breesus” as he is affectionately known by New Orleans Saints fans, completed 20 seasons in the NFL and was consistently one of the best offensive players in the league for many years.
The Super Bowl XLIV champion and MVP led the league in passing seven times and in passing touchdowns four times, so it’s no surprise he sits so high on this list.
In his illustrious career, he had a total of 596 touchdowns (571 passing, 25 rushing).
1. Tom Brady (2000-present) – 677
The number one spot on this list surprises nobody who knows anything about football. If you’re wondering about any NFL record, chances are Tom Brady holds it.
The seven-time Super Bowl champ recently announced his retirement from the NFL for the second time in two years and this time it looks like he means it.
The GOAT is the only man in NFL history to have achieved more than 600 touchdowns.
With (statistically at least) a career total of 677 touchdowns so far (649 passing, 28 rushing), it’s unlikely that this total will ever be matched – especially not by another 6th round pick.
Most Touchdowns In Super Bowls
Quarterbacks also dominate the list of most career touchdowns in Super Bowls, but not exclusively.
Rob Gronkoswki is the only tight end on the list, and he recorded an impressive five TDs in five Super Bowl appearances thanks to his connection with Tom Brady.
Emmitt Smith, one of the greatest running backs in the history of the league, also secured five touchdowns in just three Super Bowl games for the Dallas Cowboys.
The final non-quarterback on this list is the consensus greatest wide receiver in football history, Jerry Rice. “World” caught an incredible eight touchdown passes in Super Bowls in just four games, coming out as champ in three.
And no prizes for guessing who’s no.1 on this list…
T-8. Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Rob Gronkoswki, Brett Farve (5)
This decision comes despite concerns raised by some individuals about the advertisements potentially violating the advertising code, which prohibits gambling operators from linking themselves with individuals who could attract minors, the ASA conducted a thorough investigation and ultimately determined that there was no violation of the code.
ASA Deems Crouch Does Not Appeal to Young Audiences
The BCAP Code requires gambling ads to not be attractive to children or young people and to avoid using people or characters with strong appeal to those under 18.
The ad in question featured Peter Crouch and promoted Paddy Power’s Bet Builder for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The ASA evaluated whether Peter Crouch had a strong appeal to young audiences.
Although Peter Crouch was widely known earlier in his career, he retired in 2019 and played for less popular clubs after 2011, so he is not considered to have strong appeal to minors based on his soccer career. He also does not have a strong social media presence and is associated with TV programs and podcasts aimed at adult audiences.
He recently appeared on “The Masked Dancer,” a family entertainment show with 8.5 million views from children. However, since he appeared as one of four panelists and the show was of broad demographic appeal, there was no evidence of strong appeal to under-18s, according to the BCAP Guidance.
Considering all of these facts, ASA deemed that the Paddy Power ad featuring Peter Crouch did not violate the rules.
Similar Decision on the Sky Bet Ad with Micah Richards
On basically the same grounds, ASA deemed that the Sky Bet ad featuring Micah Richards did not violate the advertisement code rules around gambling ads.
Micah Richards, a former professional soccer player, is well-known on TV as a pundit and has adult-oriented media profiles, but he has limited appeal to minors. His TV profile, social media presence, and other endorsements are predominantly adult-focused, with nothing in the ad likely to attract minors.
As a result, it was concluded that the ad was not of strong appeal to children or young persons, and was compliant with the CAP Code.
Ads with Ex-Soccer Players Caused Controversy
The two ads, however, sparked a lot of debate and criticism. Charities combatting the consequences of problem gambling spoke out against the endorsement of celebrities in sports betting advertising.
Tom Fleming of Gambling with Lives pointed out that the use of celebrities to promote sports betting during the World Cup was a violation of the regulations introduced by the Advertising Standards Authority. He also highlighted that he finds it unacceptable for current or former soccer players or managers to endorse highly addictive products.
The UK government is working towards revising its gambling laws, which have been postponed due to the political turmoil in the UK. However, these changes are expected to be implemented soon and will likely significantly restrict gambling advertisements.

Nobody at the nine-handed final table took home less than $1,116 for their $109 investment. “Dar1nskas” of Lithuania bowed out in ninth and received that sum. Montenegro’s “Hvalavam” and Romanian “ieduiezilor” were the next players heading for the exits, doing so with total prizes worth $1,357 and $2,528, respectively.
“Sim0nK,” also of Lithuania, fell in fifth for $3,191, with two Brazilians crashing out in quick succession and leaving only two players in the hunt for the title; “joelmito” ($3,608) and “GiordanoKK” ($4,823) being those busted Samba stars.
Heads-up pitted Germany’s “alligatorboy” against “blachu3232” of Argentina. Blachu3232 had alligatorboy on the ropes for a large part of the one-on-one battle, and eventually clinched the title when their pocket sixes flopped a set and rivered a boat to stay way ahead of their opponent’s queen-ten. Blachu3232 won the $200 mystery bounty that was on the head of alligatorboy plus the $140 that started on their head, taking their total bounty haul to $1,390 and their overall prize $9,130.
