Lars Nystedt Enjoys a Super Sunday Online at GGPoker; Wins $156,013

Christmas came early for Lars “Babyccino” Nystedt on December 11 with Nystedt taking down a $1,050 buy-in tournament and finishing second in a $525 PKO affair online at GGPoker. When the dust had settled and Nystedt logged off from his machine, his GGPoker account balance had swelled by $156,013.

Nystedt also finds himself through to Day 2 of the $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER event where someone will walk away with at least $1 million for their efforts. He may only have 15 big blinds at his disposal, but on this form, nobody would bet against Nystedt from going from zero to hero.

His victory came in the $1,050 Sunday Main Event HR, which saw 447 players create a $447,000 prize pool. All but one of the nine GGPoker players that reached the final table collected a five-figure sum, the Netherlands’ Dirk Gerriste being that player; Gerriste banked $8,377 when he fell in ninth.

Matas “NoWeyyy” Cikinas saw his tournament end in an eighth-place finish worth $11,171 before “tonybardio,” and Brazil’s Renan Bruschi crashed out and collected $14,897 and $19,866, respectively.

Artur Martirosian‘s exit in fifth, a finish worth $26,492, resulted in the four surviving players breathing a sigh of relief. Martirosian is the biggest winner at GGPoker, and a player both feared and respected in equal measure.

The final four became three with the untimely demise of Manuel “OPPikachu” Fischer; Fischer reeled in $35,328 for his efforts. Heads-up was set when Turkey’s Onur “simplyriver” Hazinedar fell by the wayside; his third-place finish saw him scoop $47,111.

Nystedt locked horns with Jiahao “Songjiahao” Song for the title and the lion’s share of the prize pool. The one-on-one battle went Nystedt’s way, and he collected the $83,777 top prize, resigning Song to a still impressive $62,823 consolation prize.

Vicente Denies Nystedt a Brace of Titles

It looked like Nystedt was going to bag his second GGPoker title of the night when he bulldozed his way to the final two of the $525 Bounty Hunters HR Main Event. However, it was not meant to be.

Some 2,446 players bought into this progressive knockout event, creating a $1,223,000 prize pool as a result. The seven-figure pot resulted in final table payouts ranging from $12,004 to a cool $115,393 with bounties included, of course.

“boraodota,” Florian Gaugusch, and Hong Kong’s “LRS2020” were the first three finalists to bow out. Then came the exits of “MildSorte,” Peter Patricio, and Patricio’s fellow Brazilian Guilherme “wolverine27” Schreiber.

Any of the final three players would have made a worthy champion, but only one of them could claim the crown. Montenegro’s “Efunden” busted in third for $46,081, leaving Nystedt heads-up against Daniel “angenit” Vicente. Both heads-up players secured almost $50,000 from the main prize pool but the all-important final bounty payment weighed in at more than $65,000! That went to Vicente after he ended Nystedt’s spectacular run in second place. Nysedt headed home with $72,236 while Vicente padded his bankroll with $115,393.
