Here's Full Schedule for 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP); Win Main Event for Life!

The dates for the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) have been in your diary since December, but now get ready to plan your entire summer with the release of the full WSOP schedule.

A total of 95 bracelets — the most at a live WSOP in history — will be awarded over the course of seven weeks at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas Hotels & Casinos. In addition, there will be 20 bracelets awarded on WSOP.com in the merged network of New Jersey and Nevada, while the segregated markets of Pennsylvania and Michigan will each award seven bracelets.

The action gets underway on May 30 and runs through until July 18, 2023, on the Las Vegas Strip at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas. Officials are doing what they can to ensure the $10,000 Main Event will be the biggest ever, including numerous satellite options, and if it is someone in the field will win a “Main Event for Life” drawing in which they will win a non-transferrable Main Event buy-in for the next 30 years!

Bigger and Better Across the Board

The 2023 WSOP builds on the momentum of a 2022 tournament that saw 197,626 entrants from more than 100 countries and a record-breaking $347.9 million total prize pool in its new home.

“With the momentum generated from the WSOP’s debut on the Las Vegas Strip last year, we expect a record-breaking WSOP and World Championship at Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas in 2023,” said Ty Stewart, SVP & Executive Director of the WSOP. “If the Main Event is on your bucket list, this is the year to get to Vegas.”

2023 WSOP Starts With a Bang

As is tradition, Event #1: $500 Casino Employees kicks off the action on the first day of the WSOP, with the new Event #2: $25,000 High Roller also getting underway, offering players their first taste of big buy-in action at the Series.

Also getting underway is the first of four flights in Event #3: Mystery Millions. Although bounties don’t start until Day 2, it will be all about making it to that stage to be in with a chance of scooping the massive $1,000,000 mystery bounty.

One of the biggest changes to the 2023 WSOP schedule sees Event #4: Tournament of Champions move from being the last bracelet event, to one of the first. It now kicks off on the second day of action, Wednesday May 31.

The first week also sees plenty of mixed game action, with traditional early-WSOP events like the $1,500 and $10,000 Dealer’s Choice tournaments taking place.

Plenty of other mixed game events on offer early, including Event #9: $1,500 Seven Card Stud and Event #6: $5000 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em; Pot-Limit Omaha.

Interview: Vice President Jack Effel Looks Ahead to 2023 WSOP

New Events for 2023 include Big O and Badugi

In December, the WSOP announced at least two new events would form part of the 2023 schedule — Event #18: Gladiators of Poker and Event #81: Ultra Stack — but it’s now been confirmed that several other brand-new events for 2023.

Two disciplines receive their first-ever standalone events with Badugi and Big O making their standalone WSOP debuts. Both have been part of mixed events — Mixed Big Bet and Mixed Omaha respectively — but both will have $1,500 events for the first time as part of the 2023 schedule.

If you’re not familiar with either variant — don’t worry! Big O is most succinctly defined as five-card Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, whereas Badugi is a lowball draw variant, where you must make the best four-card poker hand with no duplicates in rank or suit.

Another new event is Event #83: $1,500 Short Deck. While a $10,000 buy-in Short Deck event was first introduced in 2019, and a €2,500 buy-in event has been on the WSOP Europe schedule every year since 2019, this is the first Short Deck tournament at this buy-in level at the WSOP in Las Vegas.

Two other mixed-game events will return after periods off of the WSOP schedule. First introduced in 2019, Event #80: $25,000 H.O.R.S.E returns after a brief hiatus in 2021, while Event #87: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo/Stud Hi-Lo is back having been in the schedule from 2011-2019.

2023 WSOP Main Event

Also confirmed is the full schedule for Event #76: 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event which gets underway on Monday, July 3, 2023.

The $10,000 buy-in showpiece of the WSOP will play down to a final table of nine players on Friday, July 14 before the traditional rest day on Saturday, July 15. The winner will then be crowned across two days of final table action on July 16 and 17.

Also, the WSOP hopes this year’s Main Event is the biggest ever, and if it is, all entrants in the field will be placed into a drawing that awards a non-transferrable Main Event buy-in for the next 30 years. The “Main Event for Life” drawing will utilize each player’s Caesars Rewards number and would be held on Saturday, July 8.

Players looking for details of satellites to the 2023 WSOP, including satellites for events such as the Gladiators of Poker, Main Event or Poker Players Championships can click here for further information.

Here you will find a breakdown of all live satellites to the 2023 WSOP, including full details of Daily Mega Satellites and Speciality Mega Satellites.

After falling just short of the Main Event record in 2022, organizers have put together a vast new series of promotions under the theme of “Main Event Mania” to eclipse the record field set in 2006, including:

  • 600 Main Event Seats Guaranteed from GGPoker — The world’s biggest poker room and exclusive WSOP satellite partner GGPoker has stepped up to offer 500 guaranteed Main Event seats on GGPoker.com through international qualifiers and another 100 seats on the ClubGG.net subscription site. The 600 total seats or $6,000,000 in the prize pool represents an increase that more than doubles GGPoker’s official qualifiers from the 2022 series. Online satellites will begin in March.
  • Main Event Mania at Casinos Worldwide — 2023 will see the WSOP’s first-ever Global Qualification Weekend on May 20-21 at live poker rooms on five continents around the world. Just before the start of the WSOP in Las Vegas, poker rooms around the globe will join forces to offer Guaranteed Seat satellite tournaments to send players to the 2023 Main Event. Each poker room will offer a “step” tournament at a $140 buy-in and a culminating mega of $1,175 awarding a guaranteed seat and travel stipend to Las Vegas. Full local tournament schedules and locations will be posted at www.wsop.com/mainevent.

    Additional hosts will be announced, but resorts already committed to hosting Main Event Mania the weekend of May 20-21 in the United States include Harrah’s Cherokee, Horseshoe Las Vegas, Horseshoe Tunica, Horseshoe St. Louis, Harrah’s Pompano, Turning Stone Casino, Hard Rock Tulsa, Grand Victoria Casino (Elgin, Ill.) and Horseshoe Council Bluffs. International partners, spanning four different continents, confirmed to host “Main Event Mania” include: King’s Resort (Czech Republic), Club Pierre Charron Paris (France), Deerfoot Inn & Casino Calgary (Canada), Enjoy Punta del Este Resort and Casino (Uruguay), and Casino Es Saadi Marrakech (Morocco).

  • WSOP.COM’s 112 Seat Sprint — As the poker world descends upon Las Vegas, WSOP.COM becomes the best place to qualify for the 2023 Main Event. From June 25 to July 8, a whopping 112 Main Event seats will be guaranteed on WSOP Online. The sprint to the record will begin on Sunday, June 25 with 10 seats being guaranteed per day. The centerpiece $250,000 guarantee, 25 Seat Scramble highlights the festivities and will take place on Sunday, July 2. The effort culminates with a last-chance drawing for the final seat in the Main Event on Saturday, July 8. In addition, “All-In” satellites from $80 to $126 will run daily from June 25 to July 8 with no fees.

2023 WSOP Daily Deep Stack Tournaments

By the time the curtain comes down on proceedings and Dusk Till Dawn bolts shut its door on February 19, 35 champions will be crowned. Those champions will have taken down tournaments such as Sviten Special, No-Limit Hold’em Heads-Up, 8-Game, PLO High Roller, Round of Each NLHE/PLO, and Open Face Chinese. There are even blackjack and roulette events if casino table games are your forte.

It isn’t only tournaments taking place at The Festival Series Nottingham, but also the famous Cash Game Challenge. The Cash Game Challenges each last two hours and the aim is to win the most big blinds throughout the entire series. Be the biggest winner in terms of big blinds, and a €1,600 package for the upcoming The Festival Series Malta is all yours! No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha games are running with blinds from £1/£2 to £10/£10.

The Main Event features a quartet of flights, each costing £450. You sit down with 200,000 chips and play to a 30-minute clock. Late registration remains open for eight levels, and you can re-enter once per Day 1 before the registration desk closes. Each Day 1 plays until only 15% of the field remains, with those top 15% finishers progressing to Day 2 having secured a min-cash for their efforts. Day 1A starts on February 15 and the champion is crowned on February 19.

Here’s How to Turn $10 into a Share of $1 Million in Minutes at TigerGaming

Here's How to Turn $10 into a Share of $1 Million in Minutes at TigerGaming

Picture the scene. You fire up TigerGaming and look around for something to play that’s fast because you’re short of spare time. You sit down at a $10 Windfall Jackpot Sit & Go, and minutes later, you have $600,000 more in your account than what you started with. It would be amazing, right?

Well, that scenario is not a pipedream because the $10 buy-in Windfall Jackpot Sit & Go tournaments at TigerGaming award such prizes. While Windfall Jackpot Sit & Go tournaments come in a range of buy-ins from $3.30 to $30, it is the $10 level that is extra special because their prize pools can weigh in at a cool $1 million.

What Are Windfall Jackpot Sit & Gos?

Windfall Jackpot Sit & Go games are TigerGaming’s take on the jackpot sit & go craze. PokerStars calls them Spin & Go, PartyPoker named theirs SPINS, 888poker has BLAST; TigerGaming’s offering are Windfall.

These three-handed hyper-turbo structured sit & go tournaments begin when a trio of TigerGaming players buy in and take their seats. The prize pool is multiplied by a random amount before the first hands are dealt. Mostly, you’ll play in a winner-takes-all format for a prize pool either between 1.5x and 5x your buy-in, so $15 to $50, but Windfall tournaments also have prize multipliers of 10x, 25x, 100x, and 1,000x. They also have a 100,000x multiplier than turns your $10 into a shot at a slice of $1 million.

Multiplier Prize Pool 1st 2nd 3rd Probability in 1M Games
100,000 $1,000,000 $600,000 $250,000 $150,000 1
1,000 $10,000 $10,000     100
100 $1,000 $1,000     350
25 $250 $250     1,500
10 $100 $100     4,000
5 $50 $50     192,300
2 $20 $20     626,749
1.5 $15 $15     175,000

Windfall tournaments switch from a winner-takes-all format to paying all three entrants when the top multiplier hits. All three players hit the jackpot because even finishing in third from three comes with an impressive $150,000 payday. The runner-up banks $250,000, leaving the champion to wonder what they are going to do with the $600,000 that’s in their TigerGaming account!

Help Yourself to a $1,000 Welcome Bonus

You need a TigerGaming account to be in with a chance of hitting the jackpot in the $10 Windfall Jackpot Sit & Go tournaments, or the massive Bad Beat Jackpot if you’re a cash game player. If you don’t already have an account, download TigerGaming via PokerNews’ links, create your free account, and make a deposit of at least $50. Email TigerGaming’s support team at [email protected] within 24 hours of making your deposit, ensuring you mention the bonus code “NEWTG” and you 100% match up to $1,000 bonus will be activated.

Petar Kalev Leads 52 Surviving Players Into Day 4 of the PokerStars Players Championship

Petar Kalev Leads 52 Surviving Players Into Day 4 of the PokerStars Players Championship

Day 3 of the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship has come to an end and Petar Kalev leads 52 players into Thursday’s Day 4. The surviving runners will return on Thursday at 12 p.m. local time for the penultimate day of this prestigious event.

The Bulgarian bagged the top stack of 3,360,000 and he is followed by Blake Bohn in second on the leaderboard with 2,800,000. Dylan Destefano ended the night in third with 2,665,000, while Platinum Pass winners Dominik Nitsche and Tom Parsons rounded out the top five with 2,360,000 and 2,265,000, respectfully.

Kalev has the chip lead after a late clash with a charging Fedor Holz, who looked as though he may emerge as the chip leader in the late levels. However, an ill-timed shove proved beneficial when he made an unlikely flush to cut Holz’s stack in half. After a late charge to end the night, Kalev stood tall with the biggest bag.

Day 3 Action

The third of five days saw 255 players return for a shot at making it through a money bubble that paid the top 175 players a min-cash of $35,100. It took a little over three hours to reach the bubble, and then over two hours in hand-for-hand play, but it was Mauricio Ferreira Pais that busted out to earn the rest of the room their payday.

Among the big stories was Glen Craigen, a Canadian road construction worker that won his Platinum Pass in a freeroll. Craigen ran all the way to 111th to take home $46,500 and the story of a lifetime.

Another player on the ride of his life was Tom Parsons, who waited patiently for his opportunity after winning a Platinum Pass at Lex Live 2 in March of 2019. Parsons was down to his last few big blinds on the bubble, but he spun it up and and went on a late run to finish with 2,265,000. According to Hendon Mob, Parsons had just $1,406 in lifetime earnings before this event.

Parsons is joined by Jerome Moreau on a list of dreamers that earned their way to The Bahamas by securing a Platinum Pass. Moreau is a dealer on the European Poker Tour, and he’s put his opportunity to good use. His big moment of the day was when he correctly called a bluff from Nicolas Betbese to take a big pot with a pair of eights. He went on to add more chips at the end of the night with the elimination of Kenny Hallaert. Moreau will return with 1,205,000 and a chance to live his dream from a different seat at the table.

Included in the many Platinum Pass winners to hit the payout window on Day 3 were Soraya Estrada, Miguel Posadas, Dan Taieb, Mason Pye, Dinesh Alt, Bastian Hess, Porfirio Navarro, and Alejandro Lococo. Lococo ran to 89th for $53,400, and he was knocked out by Bohn’s Big Slick—a hand that put Bohn above 1.5 million chips on his way to a bag of 2,800,000.

Bohn, a Minnesota-native, is a regular at the WSOP and on mid-major tours throughout the United States. According to Hendon Mob, he has just over $3.5 million in lifetime earnings, including a recent win at Winter Poker Classic on the Mid-States Poker Tour. Bohn’s best live cash is just under $290,000, and he can beat that with an 11th place finish.

Blake Bohn

Sam Grafton also survived to see Day 4, thanks in part to a double knockout of Sammy Lafleur and Niklas Warlich. This is Grafton’s second cash of the series after a run to 52nd in the PCA Main Event, and the PokerStars Ambassador will return with 1,590,000 for the opportunity to add to his near $13 million in lifetime earnings. Grafton will be joined on Day 4 by other notable players Nadya Magnus, Chris Moorman, Fedor Holz, Sean Winter, Daniel Dvoress, and Chance Kornuth.

Players will return on Thursday in Level 23 with blinds at 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 ante. Each of the 52 returning players is guaranteed at least $70,700, while the winner is slated to take home the top prize of $4,053,200.

Nick Schulman Shines as Kaplan’s Replacement on New Episode of High Stakes Poker

Nick Schulman Shines as Kaplan's Replacement on New Episode of High Stakes Poker

On Episode 2 of High Stakes Poker Season 10 Tuesday night, Nick Schulman, paired with AJ Benza, made his debut appearance in the broadcast booth, replacing Gabe Kaplan.

It’s never easy to replace a legend, but if anyone is up to the task it is Schulman, who has been one of PokerGO’s most popular commentators for years. Although he’s normally teamed up with Ali Nejad, another legendary broadcaster and long-time host of Poker After Dark, Schulman eased into the role quickly and the chemistry with Benza was on point.

Kaplan, the former actor and poker pro, announced his retirement last week. Schulman wrote on Twitter that he received Kaplan’s blessing to step into his seat.

Replacing a Poker Legend

High Stakes Poker, which first launched on Game Show Network in 2006, is one of the most iconic poker shows in history. Gabe and AJ, much like Norman Chad and Lon McEachern are with the World Series of Poker, go together like peanut butter and jelly. But Schulman instantly showed that Nick and AJ are a pretty dang good team as well.

Benza eased Schulman into the booth, introducing his new co-host right off the bat.

“I’m doing great, AJ,” Schulman said. “When I got the call from the Big Guy it was a little bit surreal, and can’t believe I’m sitting next to you on High Stakes, but I’m happy to be here.”

“Oh, listen, we’re all Brooklyn guys. Me, you, and Gabe – never bet against Brooklyn guys, we’re gonna be fine,” Benza responded.

Benza, Schulman, and Kaplan were all born in New York City.

The Action at the Table

high stakes poker

When the action began, Ema Zajmovic took down a small pot of $3,400 with a pair of fives in the $200/$400 no-limit hold’em cash game.

There were six other players at the table — Jennifer Tilly, Eric Persson, Matt Hanks, Jean-Robert Bellande, Bobby Baldwin, and Chino Rheem. Hanks had the largest stack with just over $350,000 and three players began the episode with a tad below $100,000.

Last week’s Season 10 premiere featured one of the more entertaining chop pots in High Stakes Poker history between Zajmovic and Hanks. This week’s highlights include a mistake by Persson in how he attempted to get a call from Bellande.

On a board of {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Spades} and $40,000 in the pot, Persson made an over-bet of $100,000 with {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a full house. Bellande went into the tank with {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Persson made every effort he could to talk his opponent into a call, and he went so far as to turn over the queen. Unfortunately, for the loudmouth casino owner and high-stakes regular, it ended up convincing “JRB” to fold his cards and he only won a small profit with a monster hand.

Bellande would get some breaks later on, however, including a six-figure pot he shipped with a flopped set against Tilly, who missed her flush draw. But then he folded pocket 10’s on a {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board when Hanks bet $70,000 into a pot of $83,000 with nothing but ace-high.

High Stakes Poker Season 10 returns next week on PokerGO at 5 p.m. PT with Episode 3.

Find Out Here How Money Bubble Burst in 2023 PSPC; Conniff Death By Quads … Again!

Find Out Here How Money Bubble Burst in 2023 PSPC; Conniff Death By Quads … Again!

On Wednesday, the 2023 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) saw 255 players from the 1,014-player field return to action. With the top 175 finishers making the money – a min-cash being worth $35,100 – it meant 80 players would leave empty-handed.

Among those to hit the rail before the money were Matt Berkey, Josh Arieh, reigning WSOP champ Espen Jorstad, and Survivor alum “Boston” Rob Mariano. Likewise, plenty of Platinum Pass winners bowed out early including Gonzalo Leal, Michael Goodman, Josif Spulber, and Rakesh Ramdial, who you might recall had quite the story as his wife initially thought his Platinum Pass win was a scam.

As evening set in, the money bubble finally arrived and would last for 2.5 hours.

Follow our 2023 PSPC live updates here!

Mauricio Ferreira Pais Bubbles PSPC

Bubble Boy Mauricio Ferreira Pais
Mauricio Ferreira Pais

The bubble burst in Level 18 (6,000/12,000/12,000) when Mauricio Ferreira Pais had the all-in triangle in front of him as he was forced all in from the big blind. Action folded to Platinum Pass winner Omar Del Pino, in the cutoff, and he made it 25,000. The remaining active players folded to set up the all-in showdown.

Mauricio Ferreira Pais: {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Omar Del Pino: {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Ferreira Pais was in bad shape and would need a miracle following the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop. Del Pino then filled up on the {q-Spades} turn to lock up the hand. The {10-Diamonds} river completed the board and confirmed Ferreira Pais as the unfortunate bubble boy.

Huge Triple Up for Platinum Pass Winner

Glen Craigen
Glen Craigen

One man who was intent on making the money was Canadian highway worker Glen Craigen, who won his Platinum Pass while at work in spectacular fashion – while on duty at work via a freeroll opportunity.

In Level 16 (4,000/8,000/8,000), Craigen moved all in for 133,000 from the cutoff before Frederic Normand rejammed for 192,000 from the button. Rayan Chamas, then counted out his stack from the small blind, he pondered over his options and decided to call.

Glen Craigen: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Frederic Normand: {a-}{k-}
Rayan Chamas: {a-}{k-}

Craigen was dominated and in really bad shape until he paired his jack on the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. The Canadian had his phone out and was recording the runout as he was now the favorite to scoop in the 415,000 main pot. The {7-Diamonds} turn and {6-Diamonds} river completed the board and Craigen scooped in the pot.

“This is a dream come true,” said the Platinum Pass winner, who was visibly shaking. With an above-average stack, he was in a very good place to make the money, which he eventually did.

Craigen’s journey to The Bahamas is an emotional one and he relayed how he got to PSPC with PokerNews, which you can check out below.

Death by Qauds Again for Conniff

Asher Connif
Asher Conniff

In Level 17 (5,000/10,000/10,000), Asher Conniff was down to around 80,000 chips and he moved all in from the cutoff. Armin Rezaei woke up with a reasonable holding in the big blind and called to put Conniff at risk.

Asher Conniff: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Armin Rezaei: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The flop fell {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Rezaei flopped quads to leave Conniff nearly drawing dead. The {9-Clubs} on the turn confirmed his fate and Conniff headed to the rail.

Conniff was also eliminated by quads at the WSOP Main Event, final table but this time he left empty-handed.

PSPC Online Awards $4.5M to MI/NJ/PA Players; Buzgon & Gruneberg Claim Titles

While the 2023 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) is currently underway in the Bahamas, the online edition recently wrapped up for players in Pennsylvania, as well as the merged market of Michigan and New Jersey.

The online series marked the first major festival for the merged market, which launched back on January 1 and instantly became the largest online poker market in the United States.

“We set the bar pretty high, we put $2.5 million guarantees for the merge liquidity and even $1.5 on Pennsylvania, those were our biggest guarantees, like ever,” said PokerStars Managing Director for North America Severin Rasset. “We’re quite ambitious. It’s always a bit scary when you do that. You just hope that the players are gonna like what you’re proposing, and you have no reference point, you know because you just managed liquidity and you don’t know exactly what’s going to be the outcome.”

By PokerNews’ calculations, the PSPC Online in Pennsylvania catered to a combined 33,724 entrants over 72 events while awarding $1,499,000 in prize money, meaning they missed the overall guarantee for the series by just $1,000!

As for the merged MI/NJ series, which was comprised of 85 events, they drew 46,215 entries and awarded $2,976,930 in prize money, well above the $2.5 million in guarantees. All told, both series had 79,939 entries and awarded $4,475,930 in prize money.

Rasset continued: “We’re super happy with the outcome. Most of the tournaments cleared the guarantees easily … We set ambitious guarantees and overall, for us it was a massive success. It’s also the kind of thing to bring the excitement back as it’s important for players to really enjoy what we have.”

Win a Share of More Than $25K in the PartyPoker Daily Legends Leaderboards

It is all happening at PartyPoker. Not only has the online poker site transformed its multi-table tournament and satellite schedule but it has also launched Daily Legends Leaderboards that award more than $25,000 worth of tournament tickets every week.

Hit the No-Limit Hold’em Daily Legends tournaments at PartyPoker between 12:00 a.m. CET on Monday through to 11:59 p.m. CET on Sunday, and you earn leaderboard points each time you finish in the money places of those events. Satellites, Omaha, and tournaments that do not appear under the Daily Legends filter do not earn you points but feel free to grind them out while you attempt racking up Daily Legends Leaderboards points.

Three leaderboard run each week, each dedicated to a range of buy-ins. The Low Leaderboard is for Daily Legends with buy-ins of $5 to $20, Medium is dedicated to $20.01 to $54.99 buy-ins, with anything costing $55 or more earning you points for the High Leaderboard.

The formula used for calculating your points is relatively simple. Either use the calculator on the PartyPoker website, or use your own calculator or spreadsheet to work them out using 10 * [√n/√rank], where “n” is the number of players in the tournament.
