Senet Chooses Norths Collective as First Company to Undergo RG Assessment

New Report Confirms Waukegan Casino Plan Gains Traction

The new program seeks to combat gambling-related harm as well as ensure that gambling operators are not impacted by financial crimes such as money laundering. To achieve this, participants in the program undergo an extensive assessment that seeks to ensure their compliance with Senet Assure.

Lauded as the first-of-its-kind program, the new initiative comes at a time when lawmakers in New South Wales (NSW) are planning to overhaul the sector. Ultimately, the reform, which is currently at the stage of planning, seeks to protect consumers and enforce more effective restrictions against money laundering and other financial crimes.

In other words, the Senet Assure accreditation program comes at the perfect time as it seeks to set a gold standard for compliance. Norths Collective, which is a group that consists of a number of brands that currently operate different hospitality locations in NSW, marks the first candidate for Senet’s new program, a report released by IAG reveals.

Senet Assure Conducts an Extensive Assessment

Luke Simmons, Norths Collective’s CEO, explained that the company is currently in charge of the operation of eight hospitality locations around NSW. According to him, the new collaboration will enable the Group to boost its sustainable growth practices while at the same time ensuring the well-being and safety of its guests. Finally, Simmons said that it is exciting to be the first NSW candidate for the new Senet Assure program.

This partnership is a great opportunity to strengthen the commitment we have to our employees and community in upholding strong ethical practices, choosing to prioritize the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all members and guests over short-term gains.

Luke Simmons, CEO at Norths Collective

Paul Newson, Senet’s principal and leader of the advisory practice, deemed “assessing pristine policies at a point in time” insufficient. He explained that the Senet Assure program represents a complex evaluation and assessment that seeks to ensure that operators offer practices that are effective.

Simply put, operators that can’t demonstrate the highest level of vigilance towards combating financial crime risks and prioritizing responsible gambling outcomes won’t meet our accreditation standards.

Paul Newson, principal at Senet

Newson said that to determine whether an operator has effective policies the program tests them extensively. Ultimately, he said that if the operators cannot reach the highest standards when it comes to responsible gambling efforts and fighting against financial crimes, they won’t meet Senet Assure’s high accreditation standard.

Bally’s Bets on NYC Casino Near Bronx Golf Course After Talks With Trump Org

Trump Golf Links sign

Bally’s eyes the Bronx

Bally’s Corporation has thrown its hat into the New York City casino license ring following talks with the Trump Organization, sources say.

plans for a Bronx casino near Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point

According to a statement supposedly sent to the New York Post, the Rhode Island-based gaming firm has confirmed plans for a Bronx casino near Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point. Sources familiar with the plan confirmed that Bally’s has held discussions with the real estate arm of ex-President Donald’s Trump business empire.

While the Bally’s project would require 17 of the 300-acre golf course that Trump Org operates under a 20-year contract with the city, the casino itself would take up just ten acres. That said, Bally’s is reportedly seeking to eventually take over the entire property, which is run by two of Donald Trump’s sons.

Jobs and community

Sources suggest that if Bally’s wins the NYC casino license, its project has the potential to create over 15,000 construction jobs and more than 3,500 full-time union jobs with annual salary starting at $70,000.

community-centered take on gaming and entertainment

Bally’s is the only gaming firm in the ever-growing cast of license bidders to propose the Bronx as its base. In the statement, Bally’s said it was “incredibly excited” about bringing its community-centered take on gaming and entertainment to the area.

The firm added it had engaged in conversations with local elected officials, civic heads, and community groups to “hear directly from them about what they would like to see from a potential new project.”

The resulting proposal by Bally’s includes transforming both the Trump golf links and a former garbage dump site “into a world class entertainment destination,” along with new public green space and staff housing.

Boost for the area

Bally’s also promised to provide opportunities for small businesses and residents in the area to share in the economic prosperity and amenities provided by the casino project.

On Sunday, Bronx Councilwoman Marjorie Velazquez said the Bally’s plan was:

really great for The Bronx.”

She added the Trump course was too expensive for nearby residing constituents and that the Bally’s project was “an opportunity to reimagine what is possible at the site.”

Other rivals in the NYC casino license bidding war include Wynn Resorts and Caesars Entertainment. The latter teamed up with rapper Jay Z in December for its NY culture-rich Times Square casino proposal.

Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks NBA Odds, Time, and Prediction

Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks NBA Odds, Time, and Prediction

The Boston Celtics are sitting top of the Eastern Conference table with a 41-16 record (.719). The Milwaukee Bucks are just behind with 39-17 (.696). Both teams have also been in top form lately, each winning the last four games. Whose superb run will end on Tuesday, February 14? Let’s find out!

When, Where, and How to Watch?

  • Place: Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Date: Tuesday, February 14, 2023
  • Time: 7:30 PM ET
  • How to Watch: TNT

The Celtics Have a Good Record Against the Bucks

In 2022, the Boston Celtics played nine NBA games with the Milwaukee Bucks, winning five of those. This includes their most recent duel, in which the Celtics triumphed 139-118. It happened on Christmas Day last year at TD Garden in Boston. Jayson Tatum recorded 41 points that evening, followed by Jaylen Brown with 29.

The two are Boston’s representatives in the 2023 All-Star game, which shows how good they’ve been throughout this season. Both are expected to do great on Tuesday evening, assuming they get to play. Tatum will play unless something unexpected happens, while Brown remains doubtful. He had to miss the last two games for a face injury, but we think he’s ready to make his comeback.

Giannis Ready for Another big Performance in Milwaukee

About a month ago, Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a knee injury for which he had to miss five games. Without him on the court, the Milwaukee Bucks went 2-3. However, since his return, they are 10-0. Unsurprisingly, the Greek Freak was instrumental in the Bucks’ superb run, scoring a total of 373 points in those 10 games. He also recorded 10+ rebounds in nine of those games.

We expect him to do something similar on Tuesday evening, but will his input be enough for the Bucks to add an 11th win to their list? Giannis’ teammates will have to do better than usual, but we think they can pull it off. After all, the game is played on their turf, where they almost always show up.

The Bucks are the best home team in the Eastern Conference with a 23-5 record at Fiserv Forum. They are without a home loss since January 6, and the only thing that needs to worry them is that they lost both of their previous home games against the Celtics.

Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks Prediction

This is going to be a real spectacle with plenty of points on both ends. Giannis is going to do great as always, but it’s his teammates who need to step up in order to beat the Celtics. With the help of their fans at the Forum, we think they’re going to do it.

Pick: Milwaukee Bucks to win

Wind Creek Overcomes Hurdle to Buy Miami’s Magic City Casino

Wind Creek Overcomes Hurdle to Buy Miami’s Magic City Casino

Wind Creek Hospitality has overcome one of its biggest hurdles and has initial clearance to add Miami’s Magic City Casino to its expanding roster of gaming venues. The PCI (Poarch Creek Indian) Gaming subsidiary will operate the license through Gretna Racing, LLC.

Magic City is a local fixture grown from a parimutuel racetrack and owned by the Havenick family since the 1930s. Havenick’s West Flagler Associates (WFA) is the legal entity offering the property up for sale.

In early December, the Florida Gaming Control Commission put approval of the transfer of assets and license on the back burner so more information about the deal could be given to the public before making a decision.

Transfer was not without Opposition

Opposition came from a perennial anti-casino organization in Florida. Legal counsel for a major gaming tribe in Florida had also asked commissioners to move forward with caution. However, Magic City representatives noted that 3rd party interventional would not be lawful.

At the time. Commissioners noted there was nothing objectionable in the highly redacted application but that it may not meet the standards of Florida’s sunshine laws.

Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair & CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians said: “We are excited to grow our footprint in another major metropolitan area, this time in Miami, Florida.

Our expansions in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and now Florida provide us the ability to take care of and grow opportunities for our Tribe. We look forward to becoming a valued partner in the Miami community.

Bryan’s references to Pennsylvania and Illinois included the former Sands Bethlehem in Pennsylvania which the firm purchased for $1.3b in 2019 before rebranding – and Wind Creek Chicago Southland, an under-construction 70,000 sq ft casino featuring 1,350 slot machines, 56 table games, entertainment, dining, and a 250+ room hotel,

Jay Dorris, CEO and President of Wind Creek added: “Southern Florida is a natural connection from our properties in Aruba & Curacao, our properties in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

With close proximity to Miami International Airport, the location is fantastic for players from all Wind Creek properties, and gives Miami locals an easy way to experience the Wind Creek brand everywhere we operate,” Dorris noted.

A New and Vibrant Market

While stating that the purchase added to its footprint in a “new and vibrant market” they also said that no major changes should be expected at the Miami property in the immediate future, but migration to the operator’s rewards and loyalty programs should be completed before the end of the year.

Wind Creek Hospitality manages the Tribe’s gaming facilities. The list includes Wind Creek Aruba, Wind Creek Atmore, Wind Creek Curacao, Wind Creek Montgomery, Wind Creek Wetumpka, Wa She Shu Casino in Nevada, as well as a racetrack in Alabama, a card room in Pensacola, and a barrel racing track with a card room in Gretna.

The company’s virtual casino is called Casinoverse. Developer Hyper Luminal describes it as “an interactable game world which brings the excitement and joy of Wind Creek casinos right to your pocket.”

Another Great Addition to Pragmatic’s Growing Portfolio

Irina Cornides, Pragmatic Play’s chief operating officer, acknowledged that the new game fuses classic slot features with multipliers that have the potential to deliver huge payouts for the customers. She predicted that Peak Power will be appealing to traditional slot players given the resemblance to a classic land-based casino slot. At the same time, Cornides predicted that the latest game will catch the attention of other players as well, given the multipliers that hold the potential for big prizes.

Peak Power combines classic slot features with bar symbols and paylines mixed in with powerful multipliers.

Irina Cornides, chief operating officer at Pragmatic Play

The latest game comes on the heels of recent hits by Pragmatic Play including Fire Archer, Monster Superlanche, and Club Tropicana. Moreover, Peak Power complements the growing portfolio of the game developer that now surpasses 300 unique game titles.

Peak Power Offers Multipliers, Scatters and Bonus Buy

Pragmatic’s new game offers online customers two bonus buy options. One of those options grants the online players a chance of triggering a super bonus, which can significantly boost their payout. “The minimum multiplier attached starts at 100x, boosting the game’s winning potential,” explains the game developer.

A game symbol that resembles the popular atomic symbol serves as a scatter. Online players that match three such symbols trigger 10 free spins. Within the free spins round, any additional scatter symbols award extra spins. The multiplier within this game mode is 5x, but it can reach up to 1,000x, granting a chance for huge payouts.

Last but not least, Peak Power also offers multipliers. Those multipliers are attached randomly to different paylines, increasing the potential for a win. If a player matches a winning combination and a multiplier, there is a chance for the win to be multiplied by up to 500x, explains Pragmatic Play.

Betfred Boosts US Expansion after Securing Maryland License

Maryland’s November Wagering Bottom Line Impacted by Promotions

Earlier this month, the company demonstrated the functionalities and features of its mobile sports betting platform, Betfred Sportsbook. After the successful demonstration, the gambling regulator in the state awarded the brand with a mobile sports betting license in the state.

The latest license from the MLGCC makes Betfred the eighth licensed operator in Maryland. As a result, the company joins a growing roster of online betting market leaders that includes FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, PointsBet, BetRivers, BetMGM and Barstool.

Arriving in the state, Betfred Sportsbook delivers new and engaging wagering options for bettors and sports fans alike. At the same time, the license in Maryland boosts the company’s ongoing growth and helps with the development of a robust and competitive market in another US state.

Betfred Continues Statewide Expansion

By now, Betfred has a presence in nearly a dozen US states. Besides Maryland, the company has entered the regulated betting markets in Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Washington, Arizona and Louisiana. Moreover, the company is licensed in major markets including Colorado, Pennsylvania and most recently, Nevada.

The latest announcement coincided with another major achievement for Betfred. Besides securing a license in Maryland, last week, the company revealed the launch of its newest retail outlet. Located inside the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the new Betfred retail sportsbook opened its doors for visitors on Thursday.

The launch marked the company’s first move within the regulated sports wagering market in Nevada. The entry became possible thanks to a green light from the gambling regulator in the state, the Nevada Gaming Commission, as well as the Nevada Gaming Control Board, which allowed Betfred to manage a sportsbook location at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook.

The timing of the opening couldn’t be more ideal with the new partnership between the Vegas Golden Knights and Betfred Sports and as the resort prepares to welcome football fans from across the country to enjoy the championship game.

Richard “Boz” Bosworth, president and CEO of JC Hospitality

At the time of the announcement, Richard “Boz” Bosworth, the president and CEO of JC Hospitality, the company that owns Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, acknowledged that the launch comes at the perfect time, considering Betfred’s deal with the Vegas Golden Knights, a leading NHL franchise. Moreover, he predicted that the new sportsbook will be well-received by sports fans and bettors alike.

KeyStar Corp Seeks Licensing Approval for ZenSports in Tennessee

KeyStar Corp Seeks Licensing Approval for ZenSports in Tennessee

The ZenSports platform is a powerful solution that enables partners to roll out both a traditional sports betting platform along with a peer-to-peer betting market attached to it, adding diversity to the available options in legalized gambling markets.

Customers are thus able to design their own wagers, set their own odds, and offer them to other punters all connected through ZenSports. The company is hoping that it can provide regulators with sufficient proof that its products meet the necessary standards to be a part of the regulated landscape in the state, and at one point – beyond.

Tennessee Is Just a Start for KeyStar and ZenSports

Commenting on this license submission, KeyStar CEO Mark Thomas said that the state of Tennessee is a perfect first state for the company to launch in, looking to later secure further growth in the United States. Thomas added:

Tennessee has demonstrated significant technological innovation and is one of the fastest-growing states for sports wagering.

KeyStar CEO Mark Thomas

While KeyStar has had some success on global markets, the company is determined to make the United States its next focus of business interest, with the fast-developing market setting new betting records with each passing year.

Being part of this ecosystem would enable KeyStar to strengthen its operational results and position itself for future growth. KeyStar is also looking into the opportunity to further expand in the country already, with the company seeking to secure a license in Nevada in the “near future.”

Ohio Governor Proposes Sports Betting Tax Increase to 20%

NSW’s Planned Pokie Tax Hike Sets the Stage for Broader Reforms

The Ohio Statehouse News Bureau reported that sports betting has been legal in Ohio for just over a month and the state’s proposed $87 billion, two-year budget has placed the industry in the spotlight. In the spending plan, the tax on sports betting is set to double from 10% to 20%, which will be paid by casinos, sports teams operating sportsbooks, and mobile companies such as DraftKings and Barstool Sportsbook. This tax increase is slightly above the average of 19% imposed by other states.

Additional Revenue Will Go to Schools, Problem Gambling, and Sports Betting Regulation

The revenue generated from the proposed increase in taxes on sports betting in Ohio will go towards funding athletics and extracurricular activities in schools, addressing problem gambling, and covering administrative costs associated with regulating sports betting. This also involves monitoring advertisements by sports gambling apps to ensure compliance with state law.

Companies such as DraftKings, Penn Sports Interactive, and Bet MGM have already faced penalties of hundreds of thousands of dollars for violating state law through advertisements that promote risk-free betting or free bonuses or target individuals who are too young to participate in gambling.

For example, at the beginning of January, the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) took action against sports betting operators BetMGM Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, and DraftKings Sportsbook, for violating advertising rules. The issue was the absence of any message regarding problem gambling in their advertising, as well as promoting their products as being free and without risk.

According to Matt Schuler, the Executive Director of the OCCC, the administrative action was a response to the blatant disregard shown by the sports betting operators for the state’s sports betting laws, despite multiple reminders and notifications regarding the advertising and promotion regulations.

Gov. Mike DeWine Has Taken a Hard Stance on Sports Betting Advertising Rules

Gov. Mike DeWine took a strong stance on the sports betting industry in Ohio, keeping a watchful eye on the advertisements and messages put forth by the operators. He signed the bill to legalize sports gambling in the state in December 2021 and since the market’s official launch on January 1, 2023, he has been monitoring the actions of the operators closely.

DeWine has expressed his concerns over the “massive advertising” done by the sports betting companies and made it clear that any misleading or inappropriate statements made by the operators will not be tolerated in Ohio.

When he made his statement back at the beginning of January, the governor did not go into detail about specific instances of operators crossing the line, but did mention the OCCC’s case against one operator who illegally advertised to minors.

South Carolina Man Donates $150K Powerball Winnings

South Carolina Man Donates $150K Powerball Winnings

The unnamed individual said that he was very happy to hit a jackpot but confirmed that he had no intentions of keeping the money. Instead, he wanted to donate his winnings. The person, who is from Greenville, bought his winning ticket at the GT Express Mart.

His win came during the January 16 drawing and the case was finally confirmed by the South Carolina Education Lottery last week. The winner has insisted that his name is not revealed. As to how he managed to win the $150,000, he said that he had picked four white numbers and 3 as his Powerball number.

Winning Enough, Time to Make Someone Else Happy

He would have won just $50,000 had it not been for the Powerball number, which tripled his winnings to $150,000. “I hit enough to make someone happy,” the anonymous donor said as part of the lottery’s press release. He defied some pretty long odds as well, managing to win when the odds of that happening were 1 in 913,129.

GT Express Mart is also going to get a small cut, with $1,500 paid to it for selling the winning ticket. Lottery jackpots have been dropping around the United States, too. The Powerball fifth largest win fell last Monday, making one lucky ticket owner very happy indeed with the jackpot prize standing at $754.6 million.

The Powerball reminded players that there are more tickets and rewards to be claimed and urged participants to always keep their tickets with them until after they have checked whether they have won something other than the big jackpot. There are millions worth of secondary prizes that go to millions of tickets after every draw, that is unless the tickets have been lost as is often the case.
