Spulber Bags Platinum Pass; Another Up for Grabs in EPT London £3,000 Mystery Bounty

Spulber Bags Platinum Pass; Another Up for Grabs in EPT London £3,000 Mystery Bounty

When PokerStars released the schedule for EPT London, it was announced that two Platinum Passes for the 2023 PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) would be up for grabs in the English Capital.

The first $30,000 package was awarded in the Platinum Pass Flipout tournament that took place in the morning on Saturday, October 22. While the second is currently tucked away inside a Mystery Bounty envelope as part of the EPT £3,000 Platinum Pass Mystery Bounty tournament which gets underway later today at 3 p.m. BST.

Spulber Books Seat to PSPC

On Saturday morning, each player who had qualified online to either the £1,100 UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Main Event or the £5,300 EPT Main Event were automatically entered into the flipout event, where the winner would be awarded a Platinum Pass.

Each lucky Platinum Pass winner is in line to receive more than $30,000 of value including:

  • $25,000 buy-in to the PSPC 2023 event
  • 6 nights’ hotel accommodation for the winner and a guest in a 5* hotel
  • Airport transfers
  • Bespoke PSPC merchandise
  • $1,900 in expenses
  • Plus Platinum Pass winner experiences during the event

A flipout tournament is where each player is automatically all-in and whoever has the winning hand after the runout advances to the next stage. That process then repeats itself until a winner is crowned.

Ten players made the final table and were dealt their hole cards. The dealer then fanned the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts} board. After the players turned their cards over, it was revealed that Romania’s Iosif Spulber was the winner as he ended up with trip aces after being dealt the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The 32-year-old Software Engineer is a self-proclaimed recreational poker player and also an avid member of PokerStars Ambassdor Lex Veldhuis’ Twitch community.

“I simply love Twitch poker,” he told PokerStars Blog. “I think it’s got a lot of elements that make it perfect for streaming. It’s so entertaining, the entire audience ‘invests’ in deep runs, and the hype when something massive is about to go down is insane.”

Spulber finished off by declaring to his rail “This is the craziest thing that’s ever happened,” while holding the ultimate grand prize.

Platinum Pass Hidden Away in £3,000 Mystery Bounty

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo claimed almost £250,000 in the Mystery Bounty High Roller

Two Mystery Bounty tournaments have already concluded at EPT London, with Juan Pardo and Henrik Veldhoem walking away as the champions in the £10,200 Mystery Bounty and the £440 UKIPT Mystery Bounty Cup respectively. However, all eyes will now be on the £3,000 EPT Platinum Pass Mystery Bounty that commences in a few hours time.

While the mystery bounty prizes only come into play on tomorrow’s Day 2, the entrants will be as excited to book their place at the PSPC, possibly even more so than pulling the rumoured £100,000 top mystery bounty prize.

As mentioned, Day 1 for that event starts at 3 p.m. and the players who enter must survive 12 levels of play to bag and tag a stack for Day 2. Alternatively, they can bypass the starting flight as late registration is open until Day 2 begins, which is on Tuesday, October 25. The platinum pass will be hidden inside one of the mystery bounty envelopes and only one lucky player will be the recipient of the epic package.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the ground for the duration of the Platinum Pass Mystery Bounty, so make sure to check out all the updates to find out who secures life changing paydays.

Yamato Nakai
Yamato Nakai

The addition of a platinum pass inside a mystery envelope first came into play at EPT Barcelona in August 2022 and Yamato Nakai was the lucky recipient.

An ecstatic Nakai was grinning from ear to ear as EPT Tournament Director Toby Stone presented him with his prize.

Nakai, at the time, only had a modest $15,848 in career live earnings, with his most recent cash coming at the EPT Barcelona festival. He finished 313th in the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event for €3,340.

Minh Anh Nguyen Wins the 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam Main Event

Minh Anh Nguyen Wins the 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam Main Event

The 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam Main Event with a price tag of VND 25,000,000 (~ $1,019) has come to a thrilling conclusion just as the clock struck midnight. Out of a field of 822 entries, Minh Anh Nguyen defeated Brandon Koh in heads-up to claim the biggest slice of the VND 17,940,150,000 (~ $722,083) prize pool much to the thunderous support by fellow Vietnamese on the rail.

Runner-up Koh was denied an incredible chip-and-a-chair comeback story after he saw his stack reduced to all but a single blind on the final two tables. Numerous double-ups later, Koh was in the driver’s seat for the heads-up with Nguyen, only to come up one spot short. For his efforts, the Malaysian took home a consolation prize of VND 2,055,000,000 (~$82,738) while the gold dragon trophy and top prize of VND 3,378,000,000 (~$136,004) remains on home soil.

The flagship tournament of the series attracted the biggest prize pool in a NLHE Main Event in the history of Vietnam, which was only toppled in prize money during the stop by the 92-entry strong field Super High Roller.

Well-known high-stakes player Winfred Yu finished in third place while Taiwan’s Zong Chi He was also among the notable finalists. Five players from Vietnam reached the nine-handed final table and it was Nguyen who was able to finish the job for the home crowd.

2022 Poker Dream Vietnam Main Event FInal Table Results

Place Winner Country Prize (in VND) Prize (~in USD)
1 Minh Anh Nguyen Vietnam 3,378,000,000 $136,004
2 Brandon Koh Malaysia 2,055,000,000 $82,738
3 Winfred Yu Hong Kong 1,452,150,000 $58,466
4 Tien Minh Ngo Vietnam 1,093,400,000 $44,022
5 Manh Huu Nguyen Vietnam 862,000,000 $34,706
6 Zong Chi He Taiwan 646,700,000 $26,037
7 Dennis Ng Hong Kong 459,000,000 $18,480
8 Nam Hoang Nguyen Vietnam 318,400,000 $12,819
9 Dinh Tien Van Vietnam 251,600,000 $10,130

The final day saw 19 players return to their seats in the Grand Hall at the luxury five-star Hoiana Resort & Golf near Hoi An. Among them was also David Erquiaga, who has been tearing up the Asian live poker scene in the current year with numerous deep runs. However, his bid for another major victory was cut short when he lost a flip to Dhaval Mudgal in the opening stages.

Hazel Chui was the last woman standing and entered the final day in the middle of the pack. Her stack was reduced to fumes when she ran pocket tens into pocket aces and she ultimately had to settle for 14th place. Mudgal was the next casualty after his early hot run cooled off rather quickly. In the meanwhile, Koh recovered from one single big blind on the feature table after a clash with Peter Sim to somehow stay in contention.

Manh Huu Nguyen then went on a card rush on the outer tables to eliminate Fu Bang Huang and Hojin Kim, entering the final table as the chip leader while Sim’s run ended prior to that. Three rapid eliminations reduced the field to the final six as Dinh Tien Van, Nam Hoang Nguyen, and Dennis Ng were all gone within fewer than 20 minutes. After that it became a cagey fight and Koh scored a crucial double through Nguyen.

Zong Chi He tangled with Koh on numerous occasions to eventually bow out to his arch nemesis of the final day. For Manh Huu Nguyen, a miserable run on the grand stage ended with a rather disappointing fifth place when his last two blinds and change vanished with pocket aces getting cracked.

Koh cemented his grip on the proceedings with the elimination of Tien Minh Ngo in fourth place and Yu tangled with Nguyen one time too many before Koh finished the job. An entertaining heads-up duel saw the lead change several times and Nguyen ultimately had the best of it after Koh changed gears and slow-played aces to get flushed away in second place.

Heads-Up Brandon Koh
Brandon Koh: From one big blind to second place

That concludes a successful second stop of the new Poker Dream live poker series, which has its eyes firmly set on a bright future in the Asia-Pacific region with a diverse range of buy-ins for casuals and High Rollers alike.

Brazilian players seem to shine at 888poker, as was evident in the recent ChampionChip Games, where Brazil topped the medals chart. The XL Retro Super High Roller chip leader, “FranciscoAI” hails from Brazil and they now have one hand on the title and that substantial top prize. FranciscoAI goes into the grand finale armed with 196,461 chips, or 49 big blinds.

There is quote some distance between the chip leader and Ireland’s “9salute46” in second place. 9salute46 has 107,629 chips (27 big blinds) when the cards are back in the air.

marllonsanti Takes Down XL Retro Mystery Bounty Event

The next handful of players are bunched up, meaning that this tournament is still wide open and anyone could win it. Only 3,000 chips separate “feerofeero” (100,950), “BetBetFck” (100,173), and “matokr” (97,815) in third through fifth. That could lead to a cagey battle because a clash between any of that trio would likely result in one of them busting out.

Further down the counts and with some work ahead of them is Lithuania’s “sk8erisz” on 71,944 chips. Bringing up the rear is the United Kingdom’s “bettyordiane”, whose 40,638 stack is worth 10 big blinds, and “dadude50” who has 14,390 chips, the equivalent of a mere four big blinds.

Play the Best Free Adventure Slots Online for Fun

Play the Best Free Adventure Slots Online for Fun

When it comes to entertainment, the action/adventure genre is one of the most popular, especially with games. Free adventure slots are no exception, with players wanting to explore the tombs of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs and search jungles for lost cities of gold.

There is so much variety to adventure theme slots and combined with our urge to explore the unknown, they always leave us wanting more. So, today we’re going to look at some of the most popular adventure slots available to play at some of 2022’s best online casinos.

Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead Slot

If you’ve ever played free adventure slots, you will no doubt have come across one of many Rich Wilde slot games. Think of him as a budget version of Indiana Jones, with several slots to this character’s name themed around his adventures searching for ancient artefacts and treasure.

This particular iteration of the Rich Wilde series, which is available to play, was developed by Play’n GO back in 2014, and released with a Return-to-Player percentage (RTP) of 96.21%. It sees Rich Wilde go to Ancient Egypt in search of the Book of Dead, which holds untold secrets and contains treasures that can reach a max value of 5,000x your stake.

The main feature in Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead slot is a free spin round awarded when you trigger three or more scatter symbols. But what makes the free spins special in this is there are expanding symbols where with each spin a symbol is randomly chosen that can expand across the reels to increase the chances of a big win.

Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead Slot

Fortunes of Sparta

With slot adventure games, no story is more exhilarating than that of the Spartans. Whether you remember the stories from history lessons at school or were a fan of the film 300 starring Gerard Butler, the Spartans were a mighty warrior race from the times of Ancient Greece who were not afraid to head into battles and spill the blood of its enemies.

Developed by Blueprint Gaming in 2014, it’s a popular title amongst 888 Casino’s adventure theme slots with an RTP of 97.05%. It has a maximum win of 100,000 coins which can be unlocked by the wild symbol in the game which is represented by the Colosseum besides a bonus free spins game where up to 100 free spins can be awarded.

With its images of battle in the background and its themed symbols, this slot will have you crying out “THIS IS SPARTA!” as you play. Just try not to get carried away and kick someone or something in front of you.

Terminator: Genisys

Looking for action/adventure theme slots that will have you saying “I’ll be back” when you’ve finished playing? Look no further than Playtech’s Terminator: Genisys, which is the 2015 sequel to the classic action film franchise, and is available to play at Slotomania as are several other free online games.

Nothing quite spells out adventure slots like a trip through time with robots trying to wipe out humanity and you get all of that and more in this game, which has an RTP of 95.75% and a maximum win of 5,000x your stake.

It has a couple of key features, starting with a Terminator car chase bonus where you have to shoot the T-1000 robot to win cash. You can then opt for two bonus games; one sends you back in time to 1984, where you will be awarded ten free spins as you try to save the life of Sarah Connor. Whereas if you choose to go forward in time where you will again receive ten free spins, except this time it’s judgement day, and it’s time to take down Skynet and save humanity.

Terminator Slot

Wonderland

There is no adventure more well-known than the adventures of Alice in Wonderland, which is available to play at Sky Casino. This is one of many free adventure slots that are based on the Lewis Carrol classic, with this variation featuring 50 pay lines and some amazing graphics that depict characters and objects from this fairy tale adventure.

The game has plenty of features to help you integrate into this fantasy world, from symbols appearing in all different sizes (they clearly drank the grow potion) to the famous white rabbit who is activated by scatter symbols before you head down the rabbit hole in search of the game’s generous bonus prizes. The way the slot game embraces the original story helps bring this game to life.

And there you have it, a varied selection of some of the best free adventure slots you can play online for fun, each catering to a different taste, but all equally good in their own right. However, there are plenty more action/adventure-themed slots available to play; you’ll find many comprehensive reviews here at PokerNews.com.

Unibet is on the spot

Unibet is on the spot

Getting familiar with one of the most reliable poker rooms out there!

Unibet was founded in 1997 by Anders Störm of Sweden. Nowadays it has more than 10 million customers all over the world and became one of the biggest gambling site in Europe. It offers a wide variety of opportunities in online gambling, betting and poker. Since 1998, it has a licence issued by a Maltain authority. Eventually Unibet built up a strong reliability among its customers with the quality opportunities.

Unibet is able to individually compete with competitors such as 888, partypoker and WPN.

1. Available

games If you wanna play poker at Unibet you can certainly choose from a lot. Either you can play cash games, MTTs or SNGs. There is also a unique format, HexaPro to play with. In case you would like to try, you can play online tournaments as well.

(a) Cash game

You can find almost any time a table up to NL400. During rush hours it is especially easy to find a table that matches with your preferences. Since the sport-betting limb of Unibet is pretty good, it lures many recreational players to play poker which means that you can play against relatively weak opponents at this poker room.

(b) Tournaments

In case you are comfortable playing poker tournaments, you are at the right spot. Unibet offers you plenty of tournaments you can choose from. For instance, probably the most common tournament played out in freezout format in which is you plays until you win (or lose all your chips). There are plenty of freeroll tournaments as well which have no fees to be paid in order to enter. Unibet provides freeroll tournaments hourly. Moreover, there are also guaranteed tournaments (GTD) to play, meaning that the prize pool is being guaranteed even if the amount of the buy-ins does not reach the guaranteed prize pool by itself, the organizer (Unibet) will cover the missing amount.

(c) HexaPro

Under the name HexaPro, Unibet offers you the Spin-type games:

HexaPro is a fast-paced, Sit & Go game up to €100 that has only 3 hands. Each HexaPro has a random prize pool, the extent of which ranges between 1.5 to 1,000 times your buy-in.

Hexapro is really easy to handle, you should only navigate to the HexaPro tab and select the given amount of buy-in (€1; €2; €5; €10; €25; €50; €100) and how many games you want to play.

(d) SNG

If you are an SNG-type player you should definitely check the SNG tables provided by Unibet. The platform itself is really handy and easy to use. There are two types of SNG tournaments the 2-handed and the 5-handed. The tables fill up pretty fast so you can play lot of hands whilst the opponents you play against are deemed to be not so strong. There is also a pretty good bonus in the amount of € 200.

2. Unibet PokerLoyalty System

In order to lure more players, earlier in 2020, Unibet reviewed its loyalty system and launched its revised, new loyalty system in Q4 2021. According to the official website, the new system had been launched in October. According to the new loyalty system there will be 7 different stages where with the lowest level you will be entitled to a 10% rakeback if you paid at least EUR 5 per quarter.

The per centage of rakeback may rise up to 49.5% if you have EUR 43,655 rake during a quarter. It is important that you can have rake by playing real money poker through cash tables, tournaments or HexaPro.

By collecting points, you will increase your level which will lead you to higher rakeback.

Here you can find a summarizing table of the new loyalty system:

3. Rakeback

Since playing poker is evolving rapidly among players it is crucial for poker sites to offer rakeback and try to have as many players (meaning as much money) as possible. Unibet is no exception.

Other than that if you had registered to Unibet via rakerace.com, you will participate in an exclusive race held monthly by which an €3,000 prize pool is offered where the average rakeback was around 10-15% based on the previous data.

Sickest hand at the WSOP Main Event final table

Sickest hand at the WSOP Main Event final table

Experts will analyze this hand for a long time.

German high-roller player, Koray Aldemir was the biggest name at the final table in the WSOP 2021 Main Event, he also started the game as the chip leader. Only George Holmes seemed to potentially be a threat to him, as all of the other participants had significantly smaller stacks.

Shortly after the game started, Chase Bianchi, a WSOP champion of 2016, and Jareth East were eliminated.

We had to wait until the 61st hand (37th blind level 500K/1M-1M) for the most interesting and important hand in the final table. PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro Lococo – a non-professional player, an Argentina musician known as Papo Mc – was right behind Koray Aldemir, in 2nd place on the chip count, so the two biggest stacks have clashed in the below hand:

If you are one of them who loves poker, you should check the best rakeback deals to make your poker career much more profitable.

Dvoress Bags First EPT Title in London After £25K High Roller Victory (£196,170)

Dvoress Bags First EPT Title in London After £25K High Roller Victory (£196,170)

The £25,000 Single-Day High Roller at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London at the Hilton Park Lane hotel has come to an end after 12 hours of play. The small and efficient field of just 19 started three hours later than was scheduled and ended up reaching its conclusion around 3 a.m.

Winning the one-day event for the grand prize of £196,170 was Daniel Dvoress who took home his first EPT title. It marks his fifth live tournament win of his career with most of the others coming in the Bahamas. This win is just an addition to his already impressive resume as the Canadian has accumulated more than $21 million in his illustrious poker career.

£25,000 Single-Day High Roller II Final Results

Place Player Country Prize Money
1 Daniel Dvoress Canada £196,170
2 Joao Vieira Portugal £123,170
3 Pablo Silva Brazil £82,110
4 Danny Tang Hong Kong £54,740

Action of the Day

The field of 19 was made out of a few re-entries and after dinner break when registration closed there were only nine players left. Dvoress was a large stack for most of the day as he began accumulating early and did not relent. He won a crucial hand right before dinner break when Mike Watson made a call against Dvoress’s overpair of kings. That gave him the big chip lead, which he would only expand upon from there and eventually use to lean on the final table.

Sam Greenwood went from second largest stack to out the door as the bubble boy in fifth after his ace-queen was out-flopped. That brought the field down to the four players who were paid.

About 45 minutes later, Danny Tang went out in fourth place after he started the day well as chip leader but ultimate met his demise when his pocket tens were slayed by the pocket eights of Dvoress when a flush was made on the river.

Three-handed play would commence for about another 45 minutes before Pablo Silva was put into an interesting dilemma in the small blind when Dvoress shoved from the button and the shorter stacked Joao Vieira was still to act in the big blind. Silva decided to call and would get unlucky with the board run out to go out in third place.

Heads-up play would last for all of one hand as Dvoress made short work of Vieira who only had a handful of big blinds but who nonetheless would still enjoy the third to second place pay jump acquired.

Day 3 of the EPT London £5,300 Main Event is also currently underway, with Julien Sitbon entering the day as chip leader.

80 players returned to the felt at the start of play but just 64 remain, with the likes of Ole Schemion, Erik Seidel and PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colillas still in contention.

Martin Jacobson, who won the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event earlier on the series also has a stack, but sits near the bottom end of the chip counts.
