The Global Poker x PokerNews Cup began back on April 10 and is slated to run through April 30. During that time, there will be 32 exclusive trophies and GC 100,000,000 and SC 250,000 Finals.

For the past two weeks, there have been a series of qualifying trophy events; in fact, they wrapped up over the weekend, which means 28 events are already in the books. Remember, the winners were awarded entry into the upcoming PokerNews Cup Finals, while the final tablists received entry to the semifinals and the top 50 finishers earned a spot in the quarterfinals.

The Global Poker x PokerNews Cup continued on Sunday with Day 14 action that consisted of a pair of Super Deep No-Limit Hold’em events. Those two events produced two new winners in “BradyFlip” and “RUeTaMa”.

On the Gold Coins side of things, “BradyFlip” navigated through a field of 401 runners in the GC 4,000,000 guaranteed PokerNews Cup Qualifier 14 – NLH Super Deep to win GC 759,895 while runner-up “Bearce” ended up with GC 561,400.

Others at the final table included “Unsub” (3rd – GC 411,025), “CUBBIES23” (5th – GC 220,550), and “Bingoray” (7th – GC 130,325), just to name a few.

The Global Poker x PokerNews Cup continued on Saturday with Day 13 action that consisted of a pair of Progressive Bounty 6-Max Super Deep events. Those two events produced two new winners in “TheArtist2” and “Billyhill”.

On the Gold Coins side of things, “TheArtist2” navigated through a field of 374 runners in the GC 4,000,000 guaranteed PokerNews Cup Qualifier 13 – Progressive Bounty, 6-Max, Super Deep to win GC 561,263.13 while runner-up “Vvavea” ended up with GC 417,044.37.

Following a stop in South Florida this coming weekend, the World Poker Tour (WPT) is heading to another familiar spot — Durant, Okalahoma. More specifically, the $3,800 buy-in WPT Choctaw Main Tour event.

May 5-8 are the dates for the Sooner State major poker tournament with the final table taking place May 26 in Las Vegas at Luxor’s HyperX Esports Arena. Luxor will also play host to the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown (May 25) and WPT Gardens Poker Championship (May 27) before the first half of the 2023 World Poker Tour schedule wraps.

Can Upcoming WPT Choctaw Top 2022 Edition?

Last year’s WPT Choctaw, which attracted 787 entrants, was one of the most memorable in tour history. The final table was stacked, with Chance Kornuth coming out victorious ($486,600), beating a loaded final six, including Kristen Foxen, James Mackey, Ray Qartomy, and runner-up Steven Buckner.

Kornuth’s win, beating out tough competition for a massive score, was impressive. But there was even more meaning to his first WPT victory than meets the eye.

Randy Gordon, a beloved traveling poker dealer from Las Vegas who is battling cancer, won a seat into the 2022 WPT Choctaw after dealing some side events during the series. Kornuth busted him from the tournament on Day 1, but decided to give the poker dealer a 1% freeroll on his action, a generous offer knowing that Gordon would soon after be undergoing cancer treatment.

Gordon’s story made some press and it caught the eye of one of Kornuth’s friend, who then tacked on another 4% freeroll, meaning Gordon would receive a total of 5% of Kornuth’s cash.

As it turned out, that was a ton of money because Kornuth won it for nearly $500,000. In total, the poker dealer received just over $24,000. Given that he would have to pack up his things last October and move to Texas for cancer treatment, that money couldn’t have possibly come at a better time.

Leonard came out on top of the $109 buy-in $150,000 guaranteed Sunday Party last weekend. The popular Brit outlasted and outfoxed 1,353 opponents on his way to claiming a total first-place prize worth $18,747. This week, Leonard did the unthinkable and navigated his way through another 1,236 opponents to not only become the Sunday Party’s first-ever double winner but to triumph in PartyPoker’s flagship weekly tournament on back-to-back weeks.

Mid-afternoon on April 23, Leonard tweeted to his 37,200 followers that he had a good feeling about the day. Later on, he fired another tweet showing his grind station, which included what he described as his lucky coin. Regardless of whether the coin is lucky or not, Leonard found himself in pole position when Day 1 concluded with only 16 players in the hunt for the title of champion.

Leonard later revealed PartyPoker had said they would rename the Sunday Party to the Pads Banana if he went all the way in consecutive weeks. Well, let us see if they do that because “Pads” did take it down again.

Super Patrick Leonard Wins the PartyPoker $150K Gtd Sunday Party

“NeoTheOne71” bowed out in ninth for $1,517 before “SharkNoScope” crashed out in eighth for $1,870. The elimination of “Jack Harlow” for $2,542 left the table short-handed, something that Leonard revels in.

Sixth place and $3,059 went to “new name cba,” “Belgrade1111” claimed the $4,510 fifth-place prize, while “Deano_T8” came unstuck in fourth, a finish good for $4,673.

Heads-up was set when “KAURAMAIT0” ran out of steam, although the $9,798 they collected for their third-place finish will go some way to numbing the pain of progressing so deep but still coming up short. KAURAMAIT0’s prize was so substantial because they banked $3,038 worth of bounties, the second-most of any entrant.

Leonard and “Primordial” fought it out one-on-one, and with all due respect to Primordial, this contest was only going to go one way once Leonard had his sights on setting a new record. Leonard came out on top to become the first-ever Sunday Party dual winner and first-ever back-to-back champion, and to bank $18,717. Primordial’s consolation prize weighed in at five figures, too, namely $11,533.

The MicroMillions Marathon High Roller was an eight-handed event with a $55 buy-in. It drew in 5,859 entries, who created a $292,950 prize pool, smashing the $250,000 guarantee out of the water.

It’s been a busy period for 888poker as their 2023 888poker Live London festival wrapped up yesterday. The £1,100 Main Event was the pinnacle event that everyone was looking forward to. With a prize pool of £367,500 up for grabs, the majority of that dished out yesterday with just 15 players returning to the felt.

After eight hours of poker on the final day, Dave McConachie reigned victorious, overcoming a field of 385 entries to take home the top prize of £83,100 and the 888poker trophy. McConachie produced a stunning comeback in the heads-up match against Francis Obadun after a deal was made.

888poker’s Ian Simpson and Nick Eastwood also picked up tournament wins, to close out the series inside the English capital.

McConachie Pulls Off Miracle; Obadun Satisfied with Outcome

The London native overcame one of the toughest final tables he’s ever been a part of, and coming out on top was extremely satisfying.

“Playing with Francis is tough. I mean, he’s a lunatic,” McConachie laughed after the match. “He’s a tough opponent. The whole final table was tough. I went card dead for a bit, but things turned out in my favor. Today was a miracle.”

McConachie can often be found playing MTTs either in the London area or overseas in Las Vegas during the summer months. While it’s not the first tournament win of his illustrious career, it will now be recorded as his largest victory, topping the six-figure mark in USD that is recorded on The Hendon Mob.

As for the runner-up, Obadun was also satisfied with how the day turned out, even though he was unable to finish things off after holding a large chip lead earlier on. “I came into the day thinking I could get top two. Obviously, it would have been nice to win, but it can go either way once you get to heads-up. I wasn’t going to sit here and be a rock for two hours.”

Action from the Final Day

There were 15 players who returned for Day 3 with their sights set on the top prize after already locking up at least £4,050. It didn’t take long for some of the short stacks to start hitting the rail, as the final table was reached in just two quick hours. Hong Pham entered the day with a healthy lead over the rest of her opponents, but it was only a matter of time until she clashed in a pot with fellow big stack, Obadun.

Just before the first break of the day, Pham made an ill-timed bluff that set her back on the leaderboard and she was forced to play with a lot more caution going forward. Caution was the name of the game when the final table got underway with major ICM implications in play. Raymond Caabay was the first to fall after getting unlucky in a few spots against Obadun, who appeared to be running over the table.

Tobias Kirby Hogarty was cruising along with an above-average stack for the latter part of the tournament. Still, the tides turned when he ran into the pocket kings of Jiaze Li. Unfortunately for Hogarty, he fell victim to some short stacks that doubled up, and he was forced to settle for eighth place. Bixi Yao nursed the short stack for what seemed like an eternity and appeared to be in a position to at least stay alive. However, her ace-high kicker did not play on the runout, and Yao was also eliminated.

With Pham now the short stack, the cards did not go her way. Folding her way down to just ten big blinds, Pham moved all in from the small blind and got a surprising call from Obadun in the big blind with jack-five offsuit. Obadun flopped a pair and turned trips, leaving Pham drawing dead before the river was dealt. The final five players took a 30-minute dinner break, and whatever they ate caused chaos when they play resumed.

As the blinds went up again, there were a couple of stacks around the ten big-blind mark. First on the chopping block was Li, whose baby ace was no match for the six-high of Obadun. The chip leader once again took an uncommon line but found a pair on the flop, which held on to eliminate Li in fifth place. On the next hand, Smit Trivedi found himself at risk in the big blind, but McConachie’s flopped pair of aces was more than enough to send Trivedi packing.

One more hand, one more elimination as Ryan Otto picked up a king in the big blind and opted to send his short stack into the middle as well. Obadun was up to his old tricks with jack-high and to nobody’s surprise, found a jack on the turn. Otto couldn’t find any help on the river, leaving Obadun with a huge chip lead entering the heads-up battle with McConachie.

Everything was looking like Obadun was going to take this one home, especially after adding to his lead in the first few hands of their heads-up match. However, Obadun may have crossed the line one too many times when he opted to run a huge bluff on the river, only to have McConachie call him down with two pair. That gave McConachie a glimmer of hope, and that was all he needed.

Once the chip stacks were nearly identical, the two players made an agreement to each guarantee themselves at least £75,000 and play for the remaining £8,100 and the trophy. As if Obadun needed any more incentive to play aggressively, but now he had the result to back him up. On the final hand of the night, both players woke up with an ace, and in heads-up play, sometimes that’s all it takes. All of the chips got in the middle preflop and it was McConachie who held the better kicker. A clean run out for the now chip leader meant the tournament now had a champion.

How to Play Craps for Beginners

So craps played in a casino is an interesting and exciting table game, and this also goes for the online versions. But many people skip it as they see it as a complicated game to learn, compared to games like blackjack or roulette. This isn’t quite true and whilst there are a few concepts to learn, it’s actually a great game to play, especially online.

This section will break down the rules of craps so you can start playing immediately. This includes Natural, Crapping Out, Point outcomes and the betting rules. Read on to find out more about this fantastic table game!

Craps Rules – Learn All the Rules of Craps

Craps betting round starts with a come-out roll. This is the first roll of the dice or the first one after the previous betting round has finished. The player who throws the dice is called ‘the shooter’.

They (or you in this case) take two dice and throw them on the craps table – or press the ‘roll’ button if we are talking about online craps.
Once the number rolled is on your screen, there are three possible outcomes:

1. Natural
2. Craps
3. Point

What is a Natural in Craps?

Here’s when things get really good. A ‘Natural’ means that the result of your roll is a 7 or an 11. When this happens, you win and get to roll the dice again.

What is Craps or Crapping out?

You roll a 2 (also known as Snake Eyes because the two dice with 1’s displayed resemble a snake’s beady eyes), 3, or 12. Here’s when you lose.

But the round is not over, and you get to roll again.

What is the Point in Craps?

This is when you roll a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. In a live casino, a dealer would mark your Point (the rolled number) on the table. In online craps games, there is a small button that appears once the Point is established. It’s white and says ‘On’.

What you need to do now is to roll the dice once more and hope you’ll hit the same number again. It doesn’t have to be the same combination of dice as you had before. As long as it’s the same sum – you win.

Do you know why the sequence for a ‘Point’ roll misses a seven? The number 7 is not a very lucky one in this case since if you roll a 7, you ‘seven out’ – you lose and end the betting round.

Ok so we know about the different rolls. Once you learn this part by heart, you can move on to the betting options. That’s the fun part because that’s the one that can make you win a lot.

Betting Rules – Craps tables explained

Betting in craps starts with understanding the craps table, so let’s take a look at one:

The table layout has a handful of areas for different betting options. So now you know how to shoot craps and how to evaluate the result of your roll, let’s have a look at how to bet in a game of craps.

Pass or Don’t Pass Bets in Craps

You can place a bet either on the ‘Pass Line’ or the ‘Don’t Pass Line’.

The Pass Line bet means you bet that the shooter will pass (win) by rolling out a natural or by winning the point before seven-ing out.
The Don’t Pass Line means betting on the opposite scenario. Or, in other words, you bet that the shooter will not pass (lose). It can happen if the player shoots to get a 2 or 3, or fails to roll the point again before a 7 shows up its ugly head.

You can make these bets only before the point has been established on the table. Once the point has been rolled out and the shooter needs to roll the sum again, you can make a come or don’t come bet.

Come or Don’t Come Bets in Craps

Come or Don’t Come Bets are made on another outcome of the shooters roll. Here they are on the craps table:

The Come Bet wins if a natural is rolled out and loses if the craps are rolled. If the point is rolled out, it becomes the Come-Bet point.
It works just like the Pass line one: if the come-bet point rolls out again before 7 does, you win. If not, it’s not your lucky round, pal.

A Don’t Come Bet is just like the Don’t Pass one. You’re in luck if the shooter rolls a 2 or 3, not so much if it’s a 7 or 11. Once the point is made, you should hope for 7 before the shooter rolls out the point again.

Neither Pass nor Come bets can be turned off. You bet and wait until it plays itself out. But you can make additional bets on the come-bet point, too. And those you can withhold or increase at any time.

If a 12 is rolled for either a Don’t Pass or Don’t Come bet, your bet is a Push – meaning nothing happens. You don’t win, but you don’t lose either.

Proposition Bets in Craps

Proposition Bets are single roll bets made on any roll. This table shows how you win (with one exception):

The exception is called Hard ways and means you win if you roll a 4, 6, 8, or 10 (depends on which one you bet) with the pair of same numbers (2 and 2, 3 and 3, and so on) before any other combination that makes that sum or a 7.

Place Bets in Craps

Once you know the point, you can bet on any number on the table. You win if it’s rolled out before a 7, you lose if it isn’t.

Field Bets in Craps

This type of bet is only active for one dice roll. You win if a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 is rolled. If 5, 6, 7, or 8 is rolled then you lose.

Big 6 and Big 8 Bets in Craps

Make either of these bets if you think that 6 or 8 will be rolled before a 7.
