Twitch Streamers Claim Loophole Allows Them to Keep Streaming Gambling Content After Recent Ban

Nullifying a ruling

Twitch streamers believe that they have unearthed a way to circumvent rules largely prohibiting gambling streams.

Twitch recently took a firm anti-gambling stance amid pressure from several top streamers and outside forces. The rules went into effect on October 18, yet they have not been quite as effective as the company had hoped.

others are continuing to stream the same “banned” content they previously did

Several streamers have abandoned the slot machines they once frequented for other lottery-style forms of engagement, such as opening FIFA packs (which are part of another ongoing debate over loot boxes), while others are simply continuing to stream the same “banned” content they previously did.

Thoughts from creators

Streamers are getting away with sharing gambling streams because of how Twitch worded its gambling “ban.” The new policy mandates that all sharing of affiliate links or codes come to a halt. It also named Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet as banned websites in a list that could still be expanded.

Furthermore, Twitch chats are not allowed to discuss banned sites. However, betting streams are not entirely discouraged, as “streaming from websites focused on fantasy sports, sports betting, or poker is currently allowed.”

Scurrows, who has 184,000 followers on Twitch, is one of several streamers who is directly challenging Twitch’s rule. He believes that vague language used in Twitch’s new policy means that he and other content creators can still load up gambling websites, so long as certain conditions are met.

it is not possible to say with certainty whether this streamer is breaking the rules

“When a streamer is playing a casino and the casino’s name is visible in the image, it is not clear which site they are playing on,” Scurrows tweeted. “As long as no URL can be seen, it is not possible to say with certainty whether this streamer is breaking the rules.”

Orangemorange, a verified Twitch partner with 544k followers, has taken a similar approach and directly called out Twitch to stop him.

Streamers like the two mentioned have begun visiting websites not named in the ban and hiding web addresses from the viewership. That way, they believe they are not in violation of the rule and can still deliver gambling content.

Despite the efforts of Twitch’s pro-gambling community, viewership in gambling streams has dropped 97% since the decree went into effect.

Past and future of Twitch gambling

Gambling streams took off on Twitch over the past year thanks to the influence of creators like Trainwreck, who earlier this year won a world record $22.5m on a slot machine, and international megastar and Stake.com partner Drake.

Trainwreck responded to Twitch’s ban by unveiling plans for a gambling-focused platform, although it remains to be seen whether or not he will build a new site if Twitch doesn’t address the loopholes in its gambling ban.

While influential creators like Trainwreck opposed Twitch’s anti-gambling stance, others, such as Pokimane, were firmly behind it. Twitch’s most-watched female streamer (9.25m followers) threatened to boycott the site until restrictions on gambling content were imposed.

Twitch is still yet to take a firm stance against the entire gambling industry

Despite the ban, Twitch is still yet to take a firm stance against the entire gambling industry and has instead targeted unregulated gambling sites.

There are several reasons for the limitations of the ban. The first is that popular gambling streams are still relatively new, and the company is in the stage of infancy in that world of entertainment. The second is that there is the opportunity for lots of money to be made off the back of gambling streams through partnerships and revenue splits.

One possibility is that Twitch ends up diving deeper into the world of sports through co-streaming or purchasing the rights to games outright. From there, streamers and the platform could join forces with a sportsbook to create branded content, thereby unlocking an entirely new revenue stream.

Twitch recoups 50% of most creators’ monetized content, although some have special deals that allow them to keep 70%. Starting next year, streamers will enjoy a 70/30 split for the first $100,000 made before moving to a 50/50 share.

Creando Conciencia Sobre el Problema de Adicción al Juego Durante el Mes del Legado Hispano –

Preventing the Link Between Crime & Problem Gambling

How do antes work in poker?

How do antes work in poker?

This article will cover antes in poker: what they are, how they’re collected, their purpose, and ultimately how you can adjust your strategy in their presence.

What Is an Ante?

An ante, similar to the blinds, is a forced bet that is made before any cards are dealt. Where blinds are a forced bet for two players at the table (the blinds), antes tend to be a forced bet for all players at the table, although this is not always the case. Antes are most commonly featured in tournaments, although they can also be found elsewhere. Antes encourage action by inflating the size of the starting pot and thus giving the table more chips to play for. Antes typically represent a fraction of the big blind. For example, in a 5/10 (SB/BB respectively) game, you might expect to pay a 1 chip ante, AKA 1/10th or 10% of the BB.

How Are Antes Collected?

As mentioned above, antes are traditionally collected from the entire table, although there are a couple of other popular mechanisms for posting the ante. In recent years, antes tend to be collected from a single position, typically the Button (BTN) or the Big Blind (BB). In such a game, it is perhaps useful to think of the ante as an additional blind. The benefit of such a system is to save time (in live games), where only one player needs to post the ante, as opposed to all players having to contribute.

There is much debate over whether the BTN or BB ante is the superior option. While proponents of the BB ante argue it’s an even quicker option, with only two forced bets per round, those in favor of the BTN ante insist the cost of an ante atop the BB is excessive, and that it should rather be dispersed (to the BTN).

Why Do Antes Exist?

As alluded to in the introduction, forced bets are a crucial element of any poker game, since their presence results in “dead money” (referring to chips that have been contributed to the pot by an inactive player) which incentivizes players to enter the pot. Thus, forced bets such as antes encourage action. Antes are more prevalent in some games than others and for good reason.

Antes are most common in tournaments. This is largely because tournaments must, by nature, come to an end. Antes add pressure by driving action and forcing players out, which assists in bringing a tournament to its eventual end. Tournaments are structured in a way that provides a fairly consistent runtime; antes are a crucial part of this structure.

While there is no rule against antes in the likes of Hold’em and Omaha cash games, they are less common. The presence of blinds tends to drive a sufficient amount of action, and without the need to bring a cash game to a foreseeable end (unlike MTTs), there is no need to force as much action. That said, antes are sometimes implemented in cash games, having the same action-driving effect as elsewhere. Those who like to play lots of big pots will likely find ante-tables particularly appealing.

Antes: Influence on Strategy

To take an example of how antes influence our strategy, let’s consider the immediate profitability of an open raise from the BTN, with and without the presence of an ante. The blinds are 5/10 with no ante. The BTN opens to 25 (2.5BBs). BTN’s steal needs to work ~63% of the time (25/40 = 0.63 = 63%), meaning that if the blinds collectively fold above this threshold, the open raise is making an immediate profit. Now consider the same table, but with a mandatory ante of 1 chip (adding a total of 6 chips to the pot preflop, assuming a 6-handed table). BTN’s 2.5BB open steal now only needs to work 54% of the time (25/46 = 0.54 = 54%) to generate an immediate profit. That’s a 9% difference! You can see how wider play is incentivized in order to capitalize on the additional chips in the pot.

By entering more pots at an ante table, you will inevitably pay more rake. By signing up with an affiliate, you may be able to offset this handicap through additional rakeback. Taking advantage of affiliate deals like the ones available at rakerace.com is thus highly recommended!

Conclusion

Hopefully, this article has helped to shed some light on antes in poker. In conclusion, an ante is simply a forced bet, not dissimilar to the blinds. Antes, most commonly found in tournaments, ultimately encourage action by giving the table an inflated starting pot to play for.

Differences Between Slot and Roulette Games

At online casinos, there are two broad categories of players: those who swear by slot games, and avid players who can’t seem to get enough of classic table games like roulette, blackjack, craps, and baccarat. Of course, some players don’t mind switching between slot games and the roulette wheel.

At first glance, the two types of casino games may seem to bear little resemblance to each other. On the one hand, slot games entail wagering your bets on three or more spinning or cascading reels. On the other hand, roulette games involve betting on a rotating wheel with numbered pockets.

Despite this, one thing is certain: slots and roulette are some of the most popular casino games ever, and they come in several different variations. In fact, some hybrid versions combine the beauty of these two most loved gambling games.

The bigger question, however, is which one is better in terms of gameplay, odds, RTP, and other player-friendly metrics?

In this article, we explore the major differences between roulette and slot games, helping you decide which is best to play for your level of experience and gambling style.

Roulette – Is it an Enticing Goldmine or a Boring Money Guzzler?

roulette games

Roulette is undoubtedly one of the oldest games in casino history.

Since it was first introduced in French casinos in the late 1790s, roulette has grown to become one of the most loved casino games, too. And it has withstood the rough waters of time, becoming a mainstay feature in virtually all online and land-based casinos.

There’s good reason roulette has been prominent in casino rooms for over two centuries. It is a reasonably simple game to understand and play, making it an easy pick for both rookie and seasoned players.

As with many other table games, online casinos are always trying to expand their roulette offerings in order to keep players coming back for more. But that isn’t all there is to roulette.

Roulette games offer plenty of advantages over other casino games, but they are not without shortcomings. Let’s take a closer look at their pros and cons.

Pros of Roulette Games

Easy gameplay and rules – Roulette’s rules of play are simple and straightforward. The player has to place the bets on the table before the croupier announces “no more bets!”

The spinning wheel has colored pockets that bear numbers matching those on the table. If you think number 5 will come out, simply place your wager on number five on the table. It’s that easy.

Huge variety of betting options – There are few casino games that can beat roulette when it comes to the number of bets you can make. Besides obvious ones like betting straight up on one or more numbers, you can go for outside bets, such as betting on thirds, dozens, columns, colors (red or black), highs or lows, odd or even, and so forth.

Inside, you can opt for split bets, corner bets, five bets, street bets, line bets, five number bets, basket bets, snake bets, and much more. Alternatively, you can decide to make a call bet, which means you call out a number, and your wager will also cover adjacent positions.

Examples of call bets include neighbors (covers two adjacent numbers on either side of the called number), Jeu Zero (covers numbers closest to zero), Voisins du Zero, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins, and so on.

As you can see, roulette provides players with a massive choice of betting options. All you have to do is choose bets that will go well with your betting system or strategy.

You can use advanced strategy or winning tactics – Even though you want to have fun and beat boredom, your ultimate goal at an online casino is to win money. After all, no one wants to lose their entire bankroll in the game, even if they’re having a blast.

That’s where roulette brings its A-game. As a well-known game of strategy, you can actually beat roulette. The best way to do this is to use certain betting systems or tactics to tilt odds or edge in your favor.

A great example of a roulette betting system is Martingale. This gem appeared decades ago when casinos had no pre-set table limits (in fact, it is the very reason why they set table limits in the first place). The overarching principle behind this easy-to-implement betting system could not be simpler and more straightforward.

In the Martingale approach, you double your wager every time you lose and go back to the original bet when you finally win. The idea behind this is a no-brainer: if you bet on a given proposition every turn, you are bound to eventually win.

Martingale strategy works best for outside bets. Other major betting systems include the D’Alembert, Fibonacci, the Reverse Martingale, the “Three-To-Two”, the Labouchere, and their combinations.

They generally offer favorable odds – Roulette games have been hailed for their player-friendly payouts because they have high Return to Player which translates to greater odds of winning.

In other words, the house edge for roulette — the statistical advantage it has in favor of the house (casino) — is low compared to other casino games like scratchcards, progressive slots, etc. However, the American version of roulette has a bigger bias in favor of the gambling site.

Did you know that European and French roulettes boast a sub 2 percent house edge? Thanks to the fact that they have a single zero slot and betting options like La Partage and En Prison, they give players a considerable advantage over the house.

You can find many variants online – Although they can’t compare to slots, online casinos offer a wide selection of variants of roulette games as discussed on idealecasinos.nl. Don’t be surprised to find that some gambling sites offer roulette games featuring multiple wheels.

Some roulette games come with special bonus offers and prizes designed to keep them enticing, fresh, and exciting, as well as improve the overall online gambling experience.

On top of classics like American, French and European roulette, you can find other variants like Spingo (which combines familiar features of roulette, lotto and bingo), multi-ball roulette, multi-wheel roulette, and live dealer roulette (which is the closest thing you will get to land-based roulette experience).

Roulette is a genuinely exhilarating casino game that can jostle your adrenaline. This is especially true when you are watching the ball roll, hoping that it will land in your favor. The thrill of winning by itself makes the game worthwhile. Even still, roulette is far from a perfect game.

Cons of Roulette Games

Roulette Games

They can be very addictive – If you are not a particularly disciplined player, playing roulette games can turn into gambling addiction. With instant-play online versions, you may find yourself going deeper and deeper into losses and debt.

For that reason, prudent bankroll management is recommended when playing roulette. As with any good measure in the gambling world, it all starts by setting your ideal win and loss limits. In a case where lady-luck isn’t in your favor, you will have a cap or a point at which you will force yourself to cut your losses and quit the game.

On the flip side, if you are on a winning streak, a win limit will tell you when to call it quits and count your blessing. Chasing losses or pressing too long on a winning streak almost always ends on a bad note.

You must also not ignore the concept of statistical independence. For instance, don’t imagine that a high number will be hit next even if the last 10 or so outcomes were low numbers. All roulette results are random and statistically independent.

May require extensive skills – As a rule of thumb, the more knowledge and skill a game requires, the harder it is, and the lower the house edge. Unfortunately, some bets or roulette games that offer the best odds often call for extensive skills or knowing a difficult betting strategy.

For example, Fibonacci is one of the best roulette betting systems but it isn’t exactly easy to grasp the ins and outs of the approach. To use it, you must understand the complex mathematical concept of the Fibonacci sequence.

Slot Games – Profitable or Bankroll-Wasting?

Slot Games

If you have played at any online casino, the chances are fairly good that you’ve been tempted by the allure of slot games. First introduced to the gambling scene at the turn of the 19th century, slot machines have become a prominent part of casino gambling.

Early slot games came in the form of a coin-operated machine with a money acceptor slot. To play, players had to insert coins and yank down the arm to get the reels spinning. Slot machines now usually come with three or more reels populated by symbols and gameplay features.

The player wins or loses depending on the paytable and the combinations of matching symbols. To win, most of them need matching combinations of at least three of a kind, read from the left side of the reel toward the right.

Today’s slot games boast stunning graphics, enchanting themes, and diversity of symbols. In addition, they include special features like bonus rounds, regular and progressive jackpots, stacked wilds, multipliers, and much more.

Pros of Slot Games

Pros of Slot Games

They are truly random – This can be a blessing or a curse depending on where you sit. If you are a player who prefers strategy over luck, you are literally out of luck when it comes to slots.

Slot machines and online slots make use of Random Number Generators (RNGs). These are computerized systems that produce truly random combinations, making slots a genuine game of pure luck. This also makes it hard for slot games to be rigged, giving every player an equal chance of winning.

They are exciting and relatively easy to play – The gameplay may vary greatly from one slot game to another, but nearly all slots are simple to play. Even better, they come in a massive variety that includes video slots, video poker slots, classic slots, 3D slots, cascading slots, multi-payline slots, mobile slots, and lots more in between.

They are graphically and visually appealing as well. If you are looking for casino games that feature the richest graphics and visuals, look no further than slots. Software providers like RTG, NetEnt, Microgaming, Playtech, and Yggdrasil Gaming offer slot titles that come with cinematic-grade graphics and studio quality.

If that isn’t good enough, slots also come with a lovely range of themes to entice all levels and types of players. Here think themes such as fairy tales, mythical creatures, TV shows, films, sports, celebrities, wildlife, and much more – there’s definitely something for everyone.

Large payouts and jackpots – Compared to other casino games, slot games provide players with massive payouts. This is particularly the case for progressive slot games that come with humongous jackpots that can turn you into a multi-millionaire.

Statistically speaking, however, the chances of winning such big jackpots are very slim. However, they bring an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the gameplay. The best news is that more and more online players keep landing on mega jackpots worth millions of dollars in the payout.

For example, an unnamed software engineer walked away with a whopping $39.7 million in Megabucks jackpot win in 2003 at Excalibur in Las Vegas. Interestingly, the LA-based engineer had a small bankroll of $100, landing the biggest jackpot in casino history.

News of such big jackpot wins is dotted all over the internet, which is why progressive jackpot slot games have lately become wildly popular online and in brick-and-mortar casinos.

Cons of Slot Games

Slot Games

Higher house edge – The payout percentage or probability of winning for most slot games is comparatively lower than the vast majority of other games offered by online casinos, including table games like roulette.

By the same token, this means that the house edge (which refers to the relative bias given by the game to the house) is relatively high. In theory, that implies that you should expect to lose more money when you play slot games than when you play other casino games.

No advance strategy can help – Even those who are accustomed to using strategies on other casino games will find that these strategies simply don’t apply to slots. They are truly random, thanks to their Random Number Generators. In a nutshell, you can’t really beat slots. If you win, it’s probably random too.

They can also be addictive – The prospects of winning a large payout or mega jackpot can easily cloud your judgment.

If you are not careful and disciplined, you can end up exhausting your savings or running into debt while playing slots. In fact, certain reports have intimated that slot games are more likely to lead to gambling problems like addiction than any other casino offerings.

Slot or Roulette Games – Which One is Better?

As we’ve seen, both types of casino games have their advantages and shortcomings. So, when it comes to choosing and comparing roulette games and slots, your choice boils down to three factors:

(a) Odds (Probability of Winning)

As with all table games, roulette games typically offer better odds or higher probability of winning than slot games. This disparity is very prominent in land-based casinos where the house edge can be as high as 35 percent.

As mentioned, slot games integrate RNG technology that not only makes the game genuinely random but also awards each slot a specific house advantage. This is usually expressed in the form of return to the player percentage, or what’s popularly called RTP.

At brick-and-mortar casinos, the RTP is substantially lower, with some Vegas casinos offering a meager RTP of 65 percent on certain slots. Comparatively, some online casinos can offer significantly higher RTP, ranging from 80 to 98 percent.

On the other hand, the RTP for roulette often varies depending on the type. When playing French Roulette, for instance, the house can be as little as 1.35 percent on even bets such as red or black, high or low, odd or even, etc. On similar bets, the house edge for the American version can be as high as 5.26 percent.

If you do the math, that means roulette RTP ranges from 94.74 to 98.65 percent, which is notably high.

However you look at it, roulette games are a clear choice if you consider only odds or house edges. So, if RTP or probability of winning is a defining factor for you, then roulette games are better for you.

(b) Potential Payouts

Money, money, money. Let’s not kid ourselves. Winning big money is always our top priority when playing at an online or physical casino. If this sounds like you, then slots will appeal the most to you.

Progressive slots, in particular, can pay out hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars when you hit a jackpot. Let’s not forget slot games come with features like bonus rounds, multipliers, stacked wilds, and minor jackpots, all of which can pay out handsomely.

For roulette, the highest payout is 35 to 1 which is pretty low compared to a bonus slot round which can pay out between 20x and 5,000x your wager.

For this reason, slot games are preferable if you are after large payouts.

(c) Type of Player

Not all casino players are created equal. If you are a tactical or strategic player, it is a no-brainer to play roulette games. However, slot games can offer much more thrill to players who are after having fun.

Because of their simple gameplay and rules, roulette games are best for newbies who want to start playing right away. If you are a high roller player, both slot and roulette games can be equally appealing depending on their bet or table limits.

Roulette games tend to have higher cash-out or withdrawal limits, which is why they are popular with whale players. In contrast, if you have a small bankroll, you can go for a low variance slot or low table limit roulette game.

Verdict

It is important to consider the house edge, variance, odds, integrity, and other factors before choosing the best casino game for you. On all accounts, roulette games seem to trump slot games.

‘Stones Live’ Alleged Cheating Scandal Rocks Poker World

'Stones Live' Alleged Cheating Scandal Rocks Poker World

A poker player and commentator from Stones Gambling Hall in Northern California accused one of her fellow players of cheating during numerous live-streams on the poker show, “Stones Live.” And now the poker community has come together to bash the accused cheater.

Veronica Brill – aka “Angry Polak” – was a commentator and regular poker player on the “Stones Live” streams which features mostly low-stakes poker games. She publicly accused fellow player, Mike Postle, of cheating and has since been applauded by the poker community.

What is the Basis for the Cheating Allegations?

Mike Postle is a Sacramento-area local professional poker player. By most accounts, he’s a solid player but is far from world-class. But he somehow found a way to win at an absurdly high rate on the “Stones Live” streams for well over a year.

Postle wasn’t just winning big. He was consistently making the correct decisions in tough spots. Brill had seen enough and accused Postle of cheating earlier this month on Twitter.

The poker community began investigating the situation by watching countless hours of “Stones Live” streams and came to the conclusion that Postle had to be cheating.

Many top pros such as Scott Seiver and Doug Polk watched Postle make some crazy plays and never lost a key hand. Popular poker podcaster Joe Ingram shared dozens of hours of Postle’s play on his YouTube channel.

Mike Postle Hires Attorney

Once Brill brought forth the accusations and the poker community began investigating, the pressure was on Postle to prove his innocence. Things got even worse for the poker pro when Mac VerStandig, an attorney for poker players, announced Brill and other victims had filed a $10 million lawsuit against Postle and Stones Gambling Hall.

To combat the civil suit, Postle hired attorney William J Portanova. His attorney quickly laid out a potential defense strategy.

“I guess he wins a lot of hands of poker. I don’t gamble, because that’s how many hands I lose. But we don’t know what the facts are. I can just say this: When I play poker I lose almost every hand, so I know such streaks are possible,” Portanova said.

Portanova didn’t disclose the specific strategy he plans to use to defend his client. But it’s clear he will attempt to convince the jury that if a poker player can go through a long losing streak, they are also capable of going on lengthy winning streaks.

The reason for this defense is to show the jury that Postle wasn’t cheating and that he was simply on a heater. It may seem hard to believe but that isn’t the point. The purpose of the argument is to put doubt in the jury’s mind so they’ll decline the lawsuit.

VerStandig and his team of accomplished lawyers, which includes talented poker pro Kelly Minkin, will have a difficult team proving Postle cheated without generating some hard evidence. At this point, most of the evidence centers around Postle’s overall results and questionable plays that paid off, and those are circumstantial.

Is There Any Hard Evidence Against Postle?

In civil court, it takes far less to prove the defendant responsible than in criminal court. But VerStandig and his team still might need some hard evidence to win the case and force Postle to pay back his alleged victims.

Despite it being clear to most poker pros that Postle cheated, it’s not going to be easy to prove in a court of law, at least not based on the evidence that has been presented at this point.

VerStandig might need to prove his was using physical devices to see his opponent’s hole cards during “Stones Live” streams. If he’s unable to do that, winning the case against Postle won’t be easy, but it also won’t be impossible.

If VerStandig can’t locate proof of physical evidence, it doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be able to show hard evidence to the jury. It’s possible that one of Postle’s accomplices, if there are any, could fess up to the crime. But that could be a stretch expecting someone else to come forward.

Postle Denies Allegations

Mike Postle was recently interviewed on “The Mouthpiece” podcast, hosted by popular poker pro Mike Matusow. He denied cheating but didn’t really prove his innocence.

He claims his winnings have been exaggerated by the “Stones Live” crew in order to make him seem almost like a poker god. But the streams are all available on YouTube in full and viewers can see that he was consistently winning big ever since July 2018.

Postle also denies always making correct decisions on the river. He claims that there are plenty of videos that will show him being wrong when making a river decision. However, in the countless hours of play that Ingram shared on his YouTube channel, there are no such examples. Every move he made was the correct play based on what hand he held and his opponent’s cards.

The odds aren’t great that he wasn’t able to see his opponent’s cards during streams the past year. Still, it could be difficult for VerStandig to prove in civil court. But the poker community sure hopes the jury will be convinced that Mike Postle was cheating.

Steve Buckner Overtakes Ray Qartomy for WPT Season 20 Player of the Year Lead

Steve Buckner Overtakes Ray Qartomy for WPT Season 20 Player of the Year Lead

Steve Buckner

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Player of the Year leaderboard received a major overhaul this weekend at the Bellagio in Las Vegas!

Steve “Cuz” Buckner, while disappointed by not winning the Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event, can take solace in the fact that he’s now the new leader in the Player of the Year race thanks to his runner-up finish to Chad Eveslage.

Buckner, who also finished second to Chance Kornuth at WPT Choctaw, brought 1,100 points into this week’s event, needing at least a fourth-place finish to shoot through the top ten and pass Ray Qartomy, who had 1,700 points, atop the leaderboard. Buckner did that and more, earning 1,050 points to now lead the race with 2,150 points.

Despite his disappointment, Buckner spoke briefly with PokerNews to say how his late mother has been the inspiration in his quest for a WPT title.

“Since my mother passed, I have been on the road since March 20th of last year. I have been cashing, and cashing, and cashing. It’s good to cash, but it’d be nice to be on the (Mike Sexton Champions) cup.”

Eveslage Enters the Conversation

While Bucker is the new POY leader, the man who defeated him heads-up, Chad Eveslage is now right in the mix for the title as well. Eveslage earned 1,300 points for the win, which combined with his 175 points coming into the Five Diamond, have moved him into third place on the POY leaderboard.

Another deep run in one of the final three POY-eligible events would see Eveslage potentially add a POY title to his now two career WPT main event wins. It’s a goal he says he’ll be shooting for.

“I hope so. I don’t know, if I win another big tournament, my friends might just kill me,” Eveslage said with a laugh.

Vanier and Wade Also Pick Up Points

Mike Vanier had a chance to also make a run toward the top spot, but after finishing each of the first three days second in chips, Vanier was eliminated in 21st place on Day 4. He still earned 150 POY points for that finish, moving him into a tie for fourth place with Mark Davis and Alexander Yen.

Corey Wade, who entered the Five Diamond tenth in the POY standings with 1,200 points was the only other contender to earn points. He finished in 60th place Saturday to earn 75 points and move up the standings to ninth place, tied with Chance Kornuth at 1,275 points. Kornuth also failed to cash this week, getting eliminated on Day 2.

Three Chances Left to Earn Points

While there’s a new leader in Buckner and a new contender in Eveslage, the Player of the Year race is far from over.

The next WPT main tour stop with POY points up for grabs is just over a month away at the Seminole Rock ’N’ Roll Poker Open in Hollywood, Florida, with the $3,500 main event starting on November 25th. After that, the final series of the year is at Wynn Las Vegas with the $10,400 WPT World Championship starting on December 12th.

Also at the Wynn will be the final WPT Prime tour stop of the year, the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship on December 8th, which will also award Player of the Year points.

PokerNews will be at each of these stops to bring you all the WPT POY news as it develops until the winner is crowned.

The World Poker Tour (WPT) will return to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida this November for the WPT Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open (RRPO), which will culminate with the $3,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event taking place from November 25-30.

Gambling in Amsterdam ᗎ Best Casinos in Amsterdam

A luminescent Casino Sign on the Building Sidewall

This guide will introduce you to legal gambling opportunities in Amsterdam. We will tell you more about the best casinos in Amsterdam that offer the most attractive games of chance.

Land-based gambling activities in the Netherlands are currently legal. The Netherlands gambling laws are strict, though. Of course, the gambling scene in the country has endured changes over the years until the landscape has been settled the way it is today. The governing authorities control the gambling activities in the licensed and authorised gaming estаblishments.

The Dutch Gaming Authority is the major regulatory organisation that controls all gaming activities in the country. Of course, all casinos and other gaming rooms in Amsterdam are also controlled by this organisation.

The Dutch Gaming Authority is under the hat of the Dutch Government. The main piece of legislation that has been in force to control gaming activities is the Dutch Gambling Act of 1964. All licences to gambling operators in the Netherland are issued according to this law.

In 2021, the Dutch government also passed a new law allowing all forms of online gaming activities as well – the Remote Gambling Act. Now, it is the major law that regulates online gaming activities in the territory of the country, and players can access the best Dutch casino sites and enjoy their quality services.

All gambling operators – both land-based and online, need to obtain a special licence to be able to offer their services legally in the Netherlands. Thus, the governing authorities aim at establishing a better and more secure gambling environment both for the business and for the customers. This is possible thanks to their collaboration with leading NL responsible gambling organisations.

How UK gambling safeguards fail to defend online punters | Travel & leisure

When Everton FC’s players ran out to face bitter Merseyside rivals Liverpool last month, their shirts were emblazoned, courtesy of a £10m-a-year sponsorship deal, with the name Stake.com.

Until recently an obscure online betting firm, Stake.com, which specialises in controversial cryptocurrency gambling, has followed traditional bookmakers in hitching itself to the world’s most popular game. And football was a keen recipient of new sponsorship revenues.

Stake has splashed plenty of cash elsewhere, too. A partnership with platinum-selling Canadian rapper Drake means his fans can watch live video streams of him gambling millions of dollars at a time. Stake has also spent big on sponsorship deals with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Formula One driver Pietro Fittipaldi.

Stake’s low-profile 27-year-old co-founder, Ed Craven, has been equally lavish, spending a combined £70m on two mansions in the wealthy Toorak suburb of Melbourne, Australia, where Stake.com and its parent company, EasyGo, are based.

These extravagances are funded by the firm’s huge annual revenue, but in theory none of it should be coming from customers gambling with digital currency in the US and UK, where this is effectively banned.

However, an investigation by the Observer has found that Stake.com’s lucrative and fast-growing empire may be benefiting from lax controls on customers – including under-18s – betting with crypto.

Last month, the Observer asked Stake.com whether UK punters might be using virtual private networks (VPNs) – widely available digital tools that create a spoof location for a computer – to bypass country restrictions on crypto gambling. Stake.com said it had implemented “stringent compliance processes” to prevent this. But in tests, these processes were found to be anything but stringent.

Using a VPN, the Observer was able to access Stake.com’s crypto gambling services from a UK location within seconds.

When asked for age verification, reporters uploaded a photograph of a packet of Strepsils throat sweets instead of a legitimate form of ID such as driving licence or passport. This initially proved sufficient.

The reporters were then able to buy crypto via Stake.com, deposit it in a betting account, and proceed to lose the money on Stake.com’s slot machine games, such as Sugar Rush and Starlight Princess. It was also able to move the remaining funds into an online bank account. They could even buy crypto with one bank account and move the funds into another account, with Stake.com effectively operating as a digital currency transfer provider.

It took more than 48 hours for Stake.com to suspend the account, after spotting that a Strepsils packet was not proof of adulthood. While the company eventually cracked down on the fake ID, subsequent tests suggest an approved adult could have continued gambling with crypto, even though the Gambling Commission has yet to give any operator approval to offer such a product in the UK.

There is reason to believe that VPN crypto gambling may be vulnerable to those seeking to bet using the proceeds of crime. According to the website reporter.london, an unnamed crypto trading platform is preparing to sue Stake.com, claiming that one of its traders stole £350,000 of the digital currency ethereum and gambled it away on Stake, using VPNs.

Asked about the Observer’s test crypto bets, Stake.com said: “As with all companies in the sector, Stake.com experiences unauthorised users attempting to evade geoblocking through VPNs. Stake is aware of one account that was recently opened following the use of a VPN from the UK and the submission of false address and other false user information, all in violation of the company’s terms of service. This account was detected by Stake’s internal compliance processes and shut down.

“Stake.com utilises anti-money laundering measures on its site. Fiat to cryptocurrency exchange services are offered by third-party providers (not Stake.com), who also have their own compliance processes and requirements.” The company also offered assurances about its commitment to safer gambling.

However, one of Stake.com’s most important commercial partnerships is with xQc, a Canadian internet personality whose real name is Félix Lengyel, who has more than 11 million followers on the live video platform Twitch.

A UFC featherweight championship in Las Vegas:

With his bombastic style and machine-gun-fire speech, Lengyel, who is 25, regularly attracts tens of thousands of viewers at a time to his streams, in which he gambles on Stake.com slot machine.

Lengyel has repeatedly stated that he is addicted to gambling, and at one stage even pledged to stop making slot machine video streams. Yet, after a brief period away from the world of betting, he signed a deal with Stake.com and returned to the fray in 2022.

Under the terms of his deal, Lengyel gets a cut when people click through to the Stake.com site via his Twitch channel. He claimed earlier this year to have funnelled $119m in bets to the company.

Like all licensed operators, Stake.com does not allow under-18s to gamble. Until now, however, anyone over 13 can watch xQc’s streams on Twitch. Last month, Twitch decided to ban casino and slots streams from its platform, naming Stake.com as one of the operators whose games it would no longer help promote. This was in response to threats from prominent streamers, some of whom had watched in horror as gambling streams began to overtake video gaming as the site’s main output.

So that was a key marketing tool lost, but Stake.com still has its high-profile sponsorship deals, including with English football teams Everton and Watford.

These deals are possible via controversial but legal “white-label” deals, under which a foreign brand that wants a presence in Britain can piggy-back on to a licence already held by a local operator, without going through its own licensing process.

Stake’s white-label deal is with Isle of Man-based TGP Europe, a business that is also the entry point for Leeds United sponsor SBOTOP, a Philippines-based online bookie, and Hull City’s deal with Kenyan-owned SportPesa. The arrangement allows Stake to offer gambling services with fiat currency (normal money) but not crypto, in the UK.

White labels are a backdoor used by some of the little-known betting firms that sponsor English football teams. The deals allow them to reach the eyeballs of football-watching punters in markets such as China and Thailand, where gambling is theoretically illegal and cannot be promoted.

But there are also questions about whether foreign firms are avoiding a moral obligation to help tackle gambling addiction in the UK. One important way in which large licensed operators such as Ladbrokes and Bet365 do this is by paying 0.1% of their winnings as a voluntary levy to the GambleAware charity.

But Stake.com is not technically the licensed operator; TGP Europe is. And last year TGP paid £2,000 to GambleAware, which would implying that its revenue was just £2m. And GambleAware’s list of donors does not mention Stake.com.

“White labels allow companies like Stake to avoid the due diligence of a licensing process, allowing them to advertise and access the British market,” said Matt Zarb-Cousin of campaign group Clean Up Gambling.

“All gambling firms should have to apply for a full licence if they want to legitimately operate here. The Gambling Commission and DCMS [Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport] should not be endorsing the white-label system, which privileges those unwilling to go through the licensing process.”

The Gambling Commission said: “If there is evidence that a gambling company that is not licensed by us is knowingly allowing British consumers to gamble then we would want that evidence provided to us so we can consider appropriate action.”

Even if Stake.com did acquire its own licence to operate in Britain, there is no guarantee that it would have much to fear from the regulator.

In August, the Guardian reported that Everton FC told Stake.com to stop using club branding in a promotion that offered a $10 free bet to anyone who wagered $5,000 in a month.

It was not a matter for the Gambling Commission though. The offer may have been cloaked in the imagery of a 144-year-old stalwart of English football but it was priced in dollars and, ostensibly, unavailable to British punters – except those who knew how to use a VPN, that is.
