Last week’s Thursday action on PokerStars PA kicked off with a few small winners as “WinninForALivin” took down the $2,200 guaranteed Big $30 for $659 after a final table deal, and the same occurred with “kb0008” when he made a deal in the $1,000 guaranteed Big $15 for $226.

But the payouts grew as the day went on and Vince “FuglyFunGuy” Lestingi was the first player of the day to take a four-figure haul when he took down the $10,000 guaranteed Nightly Stars Knockout – $50 NLHE, Progressive KO for $1,924. After that, “mattyb1257” got through a field of 227 runners in the $10,000 guaranteed Nightly Stars – $50 NLHE to win $1,728.

The real action of the day then kicked off with the Thursday Thrill High Roller, which attracted 106 entrants for a prize pool of $24,698 and ended with “bouttime2019” taking it down for $5,531. After that, the regular-staked Thursday Thrill drew 251 runners to smash the $20,000 guarantee with a prize pool of $23,042 as “Blivot” won it for $4,272.

Later in the evening, Lipkin took down the Mini Thursday thrill for the biggest piece of the $10,347 prize pool after getting through a field of 379 runners.

The following week awarded plenty of big winners as well, including Nightly Stars Knockout – $50 NLHE, Progressive KO champion “haske37” ($2,218), Thursday Thrill, – $100 NLHE [Progressive KO] winner “DDehlen” ($3,780) and “TheDirtyLenny,” who got the biggest haul of the day when he took down Thursday Thrill, High Roller Edition, [Progressive KO, 8-Max] for $5,937.

Some of the other Thursday Thrill winners on Feb. 16 include “CL911129” (Mini Thursday Thrill – $30 NLHE [Progressive KO] – $1,960), “nicksunny” (Bounty Builder $30 [Progressive KO] – $906) and “chucktrades” (Mini Nightly Stars $25 NLHE [Turbo] – $895).

Although the Grosvenor Poker UK Open and its £1 million guaranteed prize pool is the headline tournament of the series, there are some other superb side events adorning the schedule.

A £440 (£200+£200+£40) Mystery Bounty kicks off the series, and is sure to be a massive hit if other tours’ mystery bounty events are anything to go by. There is also a £150 (£130+£20) Ladies UK Championship and a Seniors (50+), plus a £2,000 (£1,800+£200) High Roller, and the £550 (£500+£50) GUKPT Cup.

The series concludes with a £110 buy-in £20,000 guaranteed Online Closer event at Grosvenor Poker. Day 1 starts at 7:00 p.m. on March 7, with Day 2 running from 7:00 p.m. on March 7.

Nearly 15 hours after the start of the second High Roller contest during the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris festival, a winner has been crowned. American poker pro Chris Brewer came out on top of 44-entry strong field at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile after defeating Brazil’s Felipe Ketzer in heads-up.

Both shared the biggest slice of the €1,034,880 prize pool with Brewer earning a payday of €357,180, while Ketzer had to settle for a consolation prize of €232,800. Also among those to finish in the money were Daniel Dvoress, Nick Petrangelo, Ren Lin, and Orpen Kisacikoglu. The runner-up of the opening €10,200 Mystery Bounty High Roller Event, Kayhan Mokri, ended up as the bubble boy.

EPT Paris €25,000 Single-Day High Roller Final Results

Brewer held the lead on several occasions during the late stages of the tournament and wasn’t fazed by a subtle joke of Conor Beresford on the rail either when the tournament was approaching the money bubble, as the Brit subtly pointed out the run-bad of the former track runner in expensive high-equity situations. On top of that, he had already avoided an agonising setback just before the end of the late registration period to defeat his curse.

Brewer got three-outered on the flop only to river a one-outer himself and knock out €10,200 Mystery Bounty Event winner Andre Marques in a key situation that set the pace for the remainder of the night. From there on, it wasn’t an easy ride either as especially eventual runner-up Ketzer pulled several rabbits out of a hat by hitting multiple runner-runner full houses.

Among the usual suspects in the high-stakes competitions were Stephen Chidwick, Steve O’Dwyer, Alex Kulev, Pedro Garagnani, and Kannapong Thanarattrakul. All of them bowed out early on and played no role during the frantic race towards the money bubble. Seth Davies went from one of the bigger stacks in the field to the rail within two hands and Jean-Noel Thorel also suffered a very similar fate as well once the final two tables were set.

PokerStars ambassador Sam Grafton was his usual jovial and bubbly self, providing plenty of entertainment for everyone involved. The self-described “best player with a stack of six big blinds and fewer” escaped from elimination with a short stack on multiple occasions but eventually bowed out against Brewer in a duel of small pocket pairs. Tauan Naves and Rui Neves Ferreira lost most of their chips to Ketzer, who entered the final table with the lead.

Tom Orpaz experienced a roller coaster ride throughout the day before he bluffed off most of his chips and then jammed at the wrong time with a suited king. Brazil’s Bruno Volkmann was flipped out by Brewer, who continued to gain momentum. What followed was a tense bubble period dominated by highly-sophisticated ICM and GTO implications, after which successful bounty hunter Mokri came up short.

Once the money was reached, the chip lead changed numerous times soon after Orpen Kisacikoglu became the first player to collect a cash prize. Ren Lin took over the top spot only to see his “no gamble, no future” approach backfire with a double-up for Dvoress. He was then eliminated by Brewer when ace-four were no match to pocket kings and the victory of Brewer with more than half of the chips in play seemed inevitable.

However, it took several hours for that to eventually happen as part of a topsy-turvy conclusion in which Ketzer battled bravely until the very end. A slow-played pair of kings would eventually be his downfall, as Brewer kept a cool head despite numerous setbacks and turned the best of it.

The second edition of the €25,000 Single-Day High Roller follows one day later and many of today’s participants will very likely be back in action. If you are looking to avoid the touristy places, go to Belleville! This bohemian neighbourhood is a real melting pot of cultures and is full of local artists and restaurants from all over the world. Don’t miss a trip to a street art mecca: la rue Dénoyez. Street artists give free rein to their creativity all along this 150-metre long street, where events and exhibitions are often organised. Murals, graffiti, tags, sculptures…you’ll see something different every time you visit.

Museum of Magic and Curiosity

Under amazing vaulted cellars, Musée de la Magie et de la Curiosité is surely the most unusual of Parisian museums. You will discover a strange collection of magical objects, mysterious and unexpected devices that will appeal to your imagination and your senses. A permanent magic show awaits you at the end of your visit, and there are even classes if you want to come back with new skills. Although it is located in the centre of the Marais, it is a nice change from the more conventional tours.

The oldest patisserie in Paris

The Pâtisserie Stohrer, located at 51 rue Montorgueil, has a history that goes back to the 18th century! Nicolas Stohrer, a young Alsatian pastry chef, started in the kitchens of the King of Poland, before moving to Versailles in the court of King Louis XV. After working there for 5 years, he opened his own shop on rue Montorgueil. It was there that he invented the rum baba. Since 1730, it is still one of the most famous pastry shops in the city.

The Père Lachaise Cemetery

Visiting a cemetery may not seem like the best idea at first glance. But the Père Lachaise Cemetery, founded in 1804, is well worth a visit for its beautiful English garden and rich architecture. It is the most visited cemetery in the world and you can pass by the final resting place of Guillaume Apollinaire, Honoré de Balzac, Colette, Frédéric Chopin, Jean de La Fontaine, Édith Piaf, Yves Montand, Simone Signoret, Molière, Alfred de Musset, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde and many others.

The Catacombs of Paris

Even stranger than a cemetery, head to the Catacombs. Dive under the surface of Paris and discover a multitude of tunnels and caverns, open to the public since 1874. In 1785, the first developments of the underground quarries of Paris began to compensate for the lack of space in Parisian cemeteries and a health crisis.

The catacombs house about six million skeletons. Most of the bones and skulls have been arranged to form patterns and structures that are very interesting to observe. More than an unusual visit, it is a real dive into the history of the capital.

Vintage shopping and flea markets

Paris is one of the most famous cities for shopping, mainly for its luxury brands, designers and the magnificent Avenue Montaigne for the more ballsy among you. But for a more unusual experience and unique products, head to the Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen, just outside the city, which has been open from Saturday to Monday since 1885.

Covering more than seven hectares, this is the largest antique and second-hand market in the world, where you can find all kinds of objects for all budgets. And for smaller but equally interesting markets, you’ll find L’Objet qui Parle, in the heart of Montmartre, Le Passage des Panoramas, best known as the address for stamp collectors and vintage postcard lovers. And for book lovers, you should find what you are looking for at the Marché du Livre Ancien et d’Occasion Georges Brassens.

A short guide to help you understand all the many areas to discover at the Saint-Ouen flea market.

Finally, for foodies, head to the Marché des Enfants Rouges, located in the famous Marais district, just a few steps from the Rue de Bretagne. Known as the oldest food market in Paris, it has been in existence since 1628 and is a must-see address for a lunch break or to stock up on fresh produce. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30am to 7:30pm and Sunday from 8:30am to 2pm.

• Decide whether you want to play Hold’em, Flash Hold’em, Max Hold’em, or Omaha

Hold’em Flash Hold’em, and Omaha Spin & Go tournaments get underway as soon as three players are registered.
