From October 3-30, Wynn Las Vegas played host to their annual Fall Classic, an 18-event series with more than $4.8 million in guaranteed prize pools. All told, the festival catered to a combined 6,987 entries and awarded $6,643,030 in prize money.

Some well-known poker players captured titles during the 2022 Wynn Fall Classic including Stephen Foutty ($600 NLH $250K GTD for $70,000), Stephen Song ($5,200 NLH Progressive Bounty for $85,995), and Amirmohsen Hamzehali ($1,600 NLH Mystery Bounty for $140,462).

Here’s a look at some other big winners from the 2022 Wynn Fall Classic.

Taylor Von Kriegenbergh Wins Championship

The 2022 Fall Classic is headlined by the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship, featuring a $1,500,000 guarantee. The tournament attracted 684 runners which surpassed the guarantee by offering up a $1,881,000 prize pool to the top 71 finishers.

Some familiar names to earn a cash but fall short of the final table were Turbo Nguyen (10th – $30,575), JJ Liu (18th – $17,256), Cliff Josephy (22nd – $15,071), Kathy Liebert (24th – $13,163), Nick Schulman (27th – $13,163), Asher Conniff (37th – $10,066), and Dan Smith (56th – $7,780).

The final table had some heavy hitters including Spencer Champlin (9th – $35,856), Chance Kornuth (7th – $51,359), Nick Pupillo (5th – $82,576), and Alex Foxen (3rd – $158,587). Ultimately, Taylor Von Kriegenbergh defeated Scott Eskanazi in heads-up play to win the title and $356,427 top prize.

It marked the second-largest score of Von Kriegenbergh’s career according to the Hendon Mob behind only the $1.1 million he claimed after taking down the 2011 World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Championship.

Kurt Jewell Extends Lead Atop Kentucky’s All-Time Money List

From October 13-17, the $1,600 NLH $1M GTD tournament took place. With 1,060 entries, a $1,537,000 prize pool was up for grabs. That was paid out to the top 107 finishers including Ashery Conniff (12th – $19,443), Elvis Toomas (17th – $14,625), Ethan “Rampage” Yau (29th – $8,569), Tristan Wade (42nd – $7,550), and Brandon Cantu (47th – $6,675).

Inaugural Wynn Millions champ Andrew Moreno found himself at yet another final table, though bowed out first in ninth place for $26,529. Others to make the final table were Mitchell Halverson (7th – $37,964) and Phillip Shing (5th – $60,558).

The title came down to two establish pros in Kentucky’s Kurt Jewell and two-time bracelet winner Eric Baldwin. The latter wound up finishing in second place for $169,886 while Jewell claimed a $257,922 top prize, the biggest score of his career that brought him to nearly $2 million in lifetime earnings according to the Hendon Mob. It also extended his lead atop Kentucky’s all-time money list.

Season 13 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues into the winter months and will stop at Running Aces Casino in Columbus, Minnesota from Dec. 1-11 for the Winter Poker Classic.

The MSPT Winter Poker Classic will feature 11 trophy events with over $770,000 in guarantees, including the $1,110 buy-in Main Event with a $300,000 guarantee Dec. 8-11.

A Look at the Schedule

The MSPT Winter Poker Classic will kick off on Dec 2 with a $360 Mystery Bounty event, a two-day tournament with a $100,000 guarantee.

After that, a $250 Sunday Feast tournament will play out on Dec. 4 as a two-day $185 Deepstack event with a $20,000 guarantee gets underway later in the evening.

Other events that will play out in the following days include a $250 Seniors event, a $250 Pot-Limit Omaha event, a $300 Tag Team Championship and a $2,500 MSPT Hall of Fame High Roller, which will run for two days beginning Dec. 7.

The $1,110 guaranteed Main Event will feature three starting flights, the first of which will get underway on Dec. 8. Players will begin with a starting stack of 25,000 chips with blinds of 100/100/100 and levels lasting 40 minutes in duration.

Day 2 of the event will play out on Dec. 11 and will play to a winner, who will take home the lion’s share of the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Previous Winners

Back in March, the MSPT Showdown Series took place at Running Aces Casino and saw Chan Pelton getting through a field of 920 runners in the Main Event to win $169,271. The Texas native defeated Minnesota’s Ben Hanson during heads-up play, who in turn took home $104,241.

The Main Event generated $890,900 in prize money, so don’t be surprised if the upcoming MSPT Winter Poker Classic smashes the $300,000 guarantee.

At last year’s Winter Poker Classic at Minnesota’s Canterbury Park, it was Kyna England who took down the $1,100 buy-in Main Event for $186,709 and to lock up the Season 12 POY distinction.

The breakout player, who recently landed an ambassador deal with ClubGG, defeated Matt Morfitt during heads-up play as the Iowan took home $115,053.

With Season 13 winding down, MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard sits atop the POY leaderboard with 6,125 points, well ahead of Dan Bekavac (4,950 points) and CJ Peake (4,225 points). Other players in the running include Justin Barnum (4th – 4,200), Wesley Cannon (7th – 3,300 points) and Craig Trost (9th – 3,000 points).

After the stop at Running Aces Casino, MSPT will wrap up the year at the Venetian in Las Veas with a $1,100 Main Event Dec. 28-30.

Oliver Weis woke up today with $353,673 more in his GGPoker account than was there a few days ago. Why? Because Weis is the latest superstar to walk away with top honors in the GGPoker Super MILLION$ tournament.

Some 174 players bought into this week’s Super MILLION$, creating a $1,740,000 prize pool as a result. More than $1.4 million of that sum was reserved for the final table, and Weis captured the lion’s share.

Russia’s “spaise411” sat down at the final table with the second shortest stack but was the first finalists out of the door. From under the gun, and with blinds at 25,000/50,000/6,000a, spaise411 open-shoved or 469,596 with ace-ten, which folded out three players. Andrei “Mr-Doberman” Nikonorov looked down at ace-king, and flat-called. Nikonorov’s king-kicker played, and spaise411 was gone.

Brazil’s Rodrigo Sirichuk saw his deep run end in an eighth-place finish after he shoved for 16 big blinds from the small blind with eight-six suited, and Ravid Garbi called from the big blind with king-queen. Neither player improved their holdings, and the final table lost another player.

Seventh place and the last five-figure score went to Johannes “Hazes” Straver. Vladimir “GEOMETRIYAEMILY” Minko min-raised to 140,000 with pocket sevens, Straver three-bet to 560,000, leaving himself only 94,012 chips behind, with pocket sixes from the small blind, and Minko set Straver all-in. Straver called and never caught up and the final table was down to six players.

The final six became five with the elimination of “Joyeux,” who saw Garbi min-raise to 160,000, and then Weis call in the cutoff. Joyeux squeezed all-in for 932,635 with what turned out to be ace-queen, Garbi shoved with pocket jacks, and Wies ducked out of the way, having folded ace-eight suited. Garbi’s jacks held, and Joyeux had to make do with a $104,813 score.

Nikonorov’s tournament ended in a fifth-place finish after a clash with Weis did not go to plan. Blinds were 40,000/80,000/10,000a, and Weis opened to 160,000 with pocket tens. Nikonorov three-bet all-in for 1,763,132 with pocket queens, and Weis called. Nikonorov looked set to win the largest pot of the final table so far, as his queens were a huge favorite preflop. Nikonorov flopped top set, but the flop was all clubs, and Weis held the ten of clubs. The jack of clubs turn left Nikonorov needing the board to pair or gift him quads, but the river bricked and his participation was over.

The final four fought it out for the best part of an hour before something finally gave. Garbi min-raised to 240,000 with pocket tens, Weis decided to jam with king-nine, and Garbi called off his 2,050,037 stack. Weis paired his king on the flop, and it proved enough to send Garbi to the showers.

Heads-up was set when Eelis Parssinen crashed out. Weis min-raised to 280,000, Parssinen three-bet to 1,218,000, and Weis clicked it back to make it 2,156,000. Parsinnen jammed for 5,505,478, and Weis snap-called. It was ace-queen for Finland’s Parssinen but pocket kings for Weis. Weis turned a full house, and Parssinen’s wait for a Super MILLION$ title continues.

That hand gave Weis a monster-sized advantage over Minko going into the one-on-one battle; Weis held 14,776,679 chips to Minko’s 2,623,321. On the fourth hand of heads-up play, Weis made it 280,000 to go with ace-king, Minko three-bet to 910,000 with the dominated king-ten of diamonds, only for Weis to shove all-in. Minko called off the 2,848,721 chips he had behind. Weis flopped an ace but needed to fade a diamond flush draw, and fade he did to become the latest GGPoker Super MILLION$ champion.

The Autumn edition of the 2022 Malta Poker Festival (MPF) has wrapped up, after playing out at the fantastic Portomaso Casino in St Julian’s, Malta. The series ran from October 24-31 and was headlined by the MPF Grand Event, which was powered by online poker giant partypoker.

partypoker, who ran satellites to the event in their client, sent a host of qualifiers to the 1,326-entry tournament. Those players generated the €636,450 prize pool and they duked it over several days on the Mediterranean coast.

When the dust settled, Italy’s Mirko Mostaccio walked away as the victor and bagged the €136,670 first-place prize after a deal was agreed with runner-up Thomas Harnes (€97,330). At heads up play, the two players agreed that Mostaccio would lock up €133,270 while Harnes would bank €97,330. They then played for the trophy and the remaining €23,400 of the prize pool.

Malta Poker Festival Grand Event Past Champions

Italy’s Emanuele Onnis was the inaugural MPF Main Event winner, outlasting 1,365 other entries. He took home the €150,000 top prize after despatching Fabian Gumz at heads-up.

Tomas Sujeta was the Grand Event champion in 2019 and collected the €150,000 up top. The 2019 field attracted a healthy 1,324-entries with Israel’s Dmitri Dan finishing as the runner-up.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the MPF was put on pause until Spring 2022. The series came back with a bang as 1,014 entries were recorded for the first MPF Grand Event of the year which saw Daniel Lakerveld walk away as the champion and collected the €71,000 up top.

Following a Monday evening Twitter spat that involved drama between multiple families, it’s questionable if the Hustler Casino Live alleged poker cheating scandal is even about the jack-four hand anymore.

The whole incident between Robbi Jade Lew and Garrett Adelstein might now be best suited for the Jerry Springer Show, if that were still a thing. In the 1990s, Springer’s popular daytime talk show, which essentially served as an outlet for friends and families to settle their disputes with fisticuffs and f-bombs, put the spotlight on dysfunctional families and petty drama.

The now month-long poker drama isn’t quite as crazy, but it is starting to become less about poker and more about personal disputes.

Spouse Asks for Privacy

On Monday, the drama over the Robbi-Garrett incident heated up with the wife of Lew’s alleged co-conspirator taking a shot at Adelstein and Doug Polk.

Savannah Hale, the spouse of Jacob “Rip” Chavez, who played in the infamous Sept. 29 HCL game and is friends with Lew, defended her husband against allegations that Lew and Chavez, both married, were having extramarital affairs. She also wrote that Adelstein “lost fair and square” and told him to “leave me alone.”

“Gman,” however, responded to the tweet by sharing a screenshot of an apparent conversation between Hale and an unnamed individual that was quite juicy.

Hale claims the “it’s much deeper than anyone knows” comment wasn’t in reference to the alleged poker cheating scandal. Instead, she said in a tweet response, the incident is “deeper than a scandal when he involves my family.”

Family Affair

Rumors began swirling shortly after the jack-four hand a month ago that Lew and “Rip” were romantically involved, partially sparked by a YouTube investigative video created by Polk in early October. Neither Lew’s spouse, attorney Charles Lew, nor Rip were thrilled with the accusations.

“@DougPolkVids I can’t tag Gman because he blocked me but anyone of you so called men out there that feel it’s ok to text my wife leave her alone. You have no right whether she followed you or not again leave her alone,” Chavez tweeted at Polk.

Prior to that tweet, Polk had responded to Hale’s post, claiming that it was actually Hale who followed him on Twitter and that he only reached out to her to get her take on the alleged poker cheating incident.

“You said you wanted privacy. I said I’m sorry and did not respond again. I did not harass you or ask you to incriminate anyone,” Polk wrote to Hale.

Chavez wasn’t satisfied with that explanation. He responded by saying that Polk is a “grown man and you should never be in my wife’s DM’s.” He then accused the Upswing Poker founder of attempting to expose his wife’s “vulnerability.”

If the aforementioned drama isn’t enough to make it on the Jerry Springer Show, others are involved and the story gets spicier. Lew called out Adelstein on Twitter for dragging others into their dispute.
