Aston Villa Ignores Fans Pleas and Pursues BK8 Deal

Aston Villa Ignores Fans Pleas and Pursues BK8 Deal

Currently, the front-of-shirt sponsor of the famous soccer team is Cazoo. However, the duo’s sponsorship agreement is getting close to expiry. In light of this, Aston Villa confirmed the possibility to join forces with the online gambling operator BK8. Although there’s nothing signed yet, talks about the possible sponsorship deal with the operator faced strong criticism from the club’s fan base.

Despite the protest of Aston Villa’s fans, the company is still considering the sponsorship deal with BK8, a report released by The Telegraph reveals. If the club continues with the deal with BK8, the gambling operator would become its main front-of-shirt sponsor.

Aston Villa’s chief executive, Christian Purslow, discussed the concerns with fan groups that united against the BK8 sponsorship. However, after the meetings, it was confirmed that the controversial gambling operator is more likely to be the team’s new sponsor for the upcoming three seasons. At the same time, the team confirmed it has conducted “extensive due diligence” checks before agreeing to a sponsorship collaboration with BK8.

“While some fans will be disappointed after Villa’s current front-of-shirt sponsor moved away from gambling companies, the commercial reality is that to teams outside the top six, such sponsors offer clubs twice as much financially as non-gambling companies,” explains a statement released by the Aston Villa Fans Consultation Group.

The FC Plans to Join Forces with a Highly Controversial Gambling Company

But why did Aston Villa’s fans disagree with the idea of a sponsorship between the club and BK8? Well, the gambling company had previously joined forces with another professional soccer club, Norwich City. However, after sexually provocative ads were tied to BK8, Norwich City pulled out of the deal.

At the time, media reports identified BK8 ads on YouTube that implied sexual acts. Additionally, the gambling operator used provocative images of young females to promote its brand. Ultimately, those sexually provocative ads pushed Norwich out of the sponsorship collaboration.

The planned deal between Aston Villa and BK8 comes during the review of the Gambling Act in the UK. The government in the country launched the review in an effort to update the gambling regulation and make it suitable for the digital age. Although previously, Premier League clubs talked about ditching sponsorships, a unified decision is missing at the current moment.

With that in mind, the voluntary ban of sponsorships discussed by the soccer clubs sought to end deals with gambling companies and avoid legislative changes. However, the revamped gambling regulation may bring changes to this vertical but that remains to be confirmed upon the release of the review of the Gambling Act.

How Much Do NFL Cheerleaders Make? – Cheerleader Salaries Revealed

How Much Do NFL Cheerleaders Make? – Cheerleader Salaries Revealed

The NFL is a big-money business. The league had revenue of $18 billion in the 2021/22 season and split this with players at a nearly 50/50 rate.

NFL players, coaches, and staff often take home staggering paychecks, but what about cheerleaders?

The men and women that make up NFL cheerleading squads are a prominent part of the sport, but do they get paid anywhere near as well as the players? Keep reading to find out.

What Is The Average NFL Cheerleader Salary?

Unfortunately, cheerleaders are hugely underpaid compared with other jobs in the NFL.

It goes without saying that come game time, cheerleaders will have huge smiles on their faces. But the same might not be true when they check their bank balance.

NFL cheerleaders make, on average, $22,500 per year, which was less than half the average US salary of $54,132 in 2022.

Some squads get paid more. For example, America’s Sweethearts, the cheerleaders of the Dallas Cowboys, are one of the most well-known in the NFL and receive a reported salary of $75,000.

Still, the average number is shocking, especially when you compare it to NFL waterboy salaries, which average at around $53,000.

Cheerleaders’ pay also doesn’t reflect the work that goes into being on an NFL cheerleading squad.

Practice can take up to 30+ hours per week, they spend countless hours traveling to games, and have to be at the stadium five hours ahead of their performance time.

👉 How Much Do NFL Referees Make?

Why Are Cheerleaders Paid So Badly?

Cheerleaders are not employees of NFL teams. They are independent contractors and historically have always been paid incredibly poorly.

Several former NFL cheerleaders had reported that they were paid well under the minimum wage, and one even wrote in Cosmopolitan Magazine that in 2006 when expenses were taken into account, she made just $300 for the whole season.

This injustice eventually led to one cheerleader taking a stand. Lacy Thibodeaux-Fields was part of the cheerleading team for the Oakland Raiders, the Raiderettes, but in 2014, she brought a lawsuit against the team for infringing employment law.

Eventually, Lacy and another former Raiders cheerleader won the case and were paid a $1.25-million settlement.

The Raiderettes were also offered new contracts that included an hourly rate above minimum wage and compensation for overtime.

This case was the subject of the 2019 documentary, A Woman’s Work: The NFL’s Cheerleader Problem, and inspired dozens of other cheerleaders across the NFL to take their teams to court over poor pay.

In general, this has improved conditions for cheerleaders. They are now being paid at least minimum wage, despite this being a pittance compared to other NFL salaries.

How Much Do NFL Cheerleaders Make At The Super Bowl?

Unlike players and coaches, there is no evidence to suggest that NFL cheerleaders make big bonuses for Super Bowl or playoff appearances.

Following the lawsuit victory for Lacy Thibodeaux-Fields in 2014, it was confirmed that the Oakland Raiders cheerleaders ‘‘would be paid for all their work’’ and ‘‘entitled to overtime’’ – but this may just be at a minimum wage per hour.

So, it’s unlikely that NFL cheerleaders take home big checks for performing in the playoffs or Super Bowl.

How Easy Is It To Become A Cheerleader In The NFL?

Becoming an NFL cheerleader is very competitive and difficult to do, despite the relatively poor pay.

Before applying, you have to be:

  • A high school graduate or have a GED equivalent
  • Able to commit to an entire season (August through February)
  • Available for all home games, as well as any potential playoff games
  • Willing to participate in weekly practices and required appearances
  • Able to pass a background check

Once you’ve ticked all those boxes, the real hard work starts.

Tryouts for NFL cheerleading squads feature hundreds of athletes who are whittled down to a group of around 50-60 who make the final squad.

Judges assess potential cheerleaders on their dance technique, performance skills, personality, and more.

Every cheerleader who makes it to the NFL ranks will also undoubtedly have high school or collegiate cheerleading experience.

So, just like the players, it’s not easy to make it in the pro ranks.

To Cheer Or Not To Cheer?

Despite NFL cheerleader salaries being meager in such a lucrative business, thousands of hopefuls try to make squads yearly.

Many see it as an opportunity to further their profile and résumé for future work, and the prestige and fame that comes with making an NFL cheer squad is real.

Betfred to Sponsor NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights

Betfred to Sponsor NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights

Sports betting giant Betfred has penned an agreement with yet another major sports team. This time, the operator signed a deal with the Vegas Golden Knights National Hockey League franchise, becoming its official sports betting partner.

Betfred and the Golden Knights Penned an Agreement

The agreement was announced by the Golden Knights yesterday. According to them, the multi-year partnership will see Betfred’s US branch support the club. The deal also coincides with the operator’s entry into the state of Nevada.

Under the agreement, Betfred and the Golden Knights will launch interactive contests for fans during intermission at certain VGK home games. In addition, the team will work to popularize the operator’s brand and will promote its logo across the T-Mobile Arena stadium. Betfred’s branding will be visible on the dashboard, the LED signage, and the NHL’s all-new DED broadcast signage.

Furthermore, the operator’s logo will be promoted across the Vegas Golden Knights’ various media channels. According to the team, the operator’s brand will be incorporated into its digital and social media channels, email newsletter and broadcasts.

This arrangement is a good opportunity for Betfred considering the Golden Knights’ popularity. They were the most successful expansion franchise in professional sports history in 2017-2018 and celebrated their fifth season in 2021-2022.

The Knights Welcomed Betfred into the Silver State

The president of the Vegas Golden Knights, Kerry Bubolz, commented on the agreement. He congratulated Betfred on its foray into Nevada, welcoming the operator into the state. Bobolz said that the NHL franchise is proud to have the global gambling powerhouse as its official sports betting partner.

Betfred’s US business is Vegas Born just like we are, and we’re excited to help them launch their brand in Nevada.

Kerry Bubolz, president, Vegas Golden Knights

Bryan Bennett, Betfred Sportsbook’s chief operation officer, also shared his thoughts. He noted that the company’s US branch is based in Las Vegas, making the launch in Nevada very exciting.

The company is now preparing to open the first sportsbook in its hometown in collaboration with Mohegan Casino Las Vegas. As preparations continue, Betfred is delighted to join forces with the Golden Knights

We look forward to growing our business here and supporting Las Vegas hockey in the process.

Bryan Bennett, COO, Betfred Sportsbook

Speaking about Betfred’s expansion into the state, the operator was recommended for a sports betting license a few days ago, facilitating its Nevada entry.

In other news, a month ago, Betfred also penned a multi-year partnership agreement with Loudoun United FC, an American soccer club based in Virginia.

How Do You Know When a Slot Machine Is About to Hit?

Row of slot machines in a casino.

When it comes to slot machines, everyone has heard about the huge wins and jackpots lucky individuals have scooped. Yet these outcomes are completely a product of luck, with slot machine results being completely random. However, some things can help you understand how these games work and keep you on track. Below, we discuss how and when a slot machine is about to hit.

1. Slot Machines Are Random

The truth is that slot machines are completely random. No matter how many books or online tutorials tell you otherwise, slots are unpredictable.

Any legitimate casino will have stringent policies in place to check that this is correct. They will choose games from developers who have worked long and hard to ensure this is common practice. After this, gambling commissions will check the casinos to see if the games are performing as expected. If this isn’t the case with your online casino, then you may be playing in the wrong place.

2. Each Spin Is Completely Random

Every spin you make on a slot game will also be completely unexpected. This is determined by what is known as a random number generator (RNG). Throughout history, they have taken a long time to develop into something that is both random and still usable.

Alan Turing, the inventor of the computer, was the first to create one of these. It was added to the Ferranti Mark 1 in 1951, one of the first all-purpose computer devices. Unfortunately, it was so unpredictable that it was considered to be unusable. This led to the invention of the pseudorandom number generator (PRNG), though even this was far from infallible, often producing the same repetitive results. Today, several different types are in use, but they all serve one common goal: to make the spins on your slot completely random.

3. Understand Gamblers Fallacy

In 1913 at the Monte Carlo Casino, one table had the roulette ball fall on black 26 times in a row. Gamblers at the casino bet and lost millions, believing firstly that the ball had to arrive on red, and that it must be proceeded by a long streak of balls falling on the colour. They questioned the random nature of the wheel and coined the term known as ‘gambler’s fallacy’.

Gambler’s fallacy is the mistaken belief that a random event becomes more or less likely to occur based on the outcome of previous events. While the chance of black appearing 26 times was around 1 in 66.6 million, each bet is only made on its individual probability. Thus, on a roulette wheel, this is a little under 50/50 when you include the green 0 sections. Never forget the gambler’s fallacy in slot games. Whatever happened before has no bearing on the next spin.

4. Know Your RTP

The best way to predict how much money you will gain playing a game is known as ‘return to player‘ (RTP). All slot games worth playing will have this listed in the small print. The higher the percentage is, the more money is returned to the player over the long term, with the rest going to the house.

For example, if you played a game with a 95% RTP, over a prolonged period, 95% of the money you put in would come back to you, with 5% going to the house. Of course, this is a long-term average. If you have three spins, there is no guarantee you will come out with 95% of the funds staked.

RTP should not be confused with volatility. This determines how the game pays out. High volatility slots will pay out infrequently, but dish out large amounts when they do. Low volatility ones will provide regular wins of small amounts. None of these impact the RTP.

5. Check Progressive Jackpot Slots

When playing progressive jackpot slots, make sure you check the small print. As they have high amounts on offer, some progressive games will increase your chances of winning if you bet the maximum amount. Once more, there is no guarantee you will win but it is something to be aware of.

So, How Do You Know When a Slot Machine Is About to Hit?

The truth is that you don’t. To believe that the previous spins have any bearing on the one you are about to take is a gambler’s fallacy. You can use statistics such as RTP and volatility to get an average based on how much you may win, but even this is over a prolonged period of play.

The random number generators used in machines ensure that each spin is just that: Random. Checked by numerous bodies, all of them work just as they should. But it is this unpredictable nature that has made the slot game so popular. This is what provides the thrill. View the game as a form of entertainment, managing your bankroll and taking any win as a welcome bonus. Only then will you truly understand when a slot is about to hit and realise that you can’t predict it at all.

The meeting is set to take place at the Valparaíso Sporting Club track in Viña del Mar, Chile. This agreement builds on the provider’s existing agreement with the track.

The event in question is scheduled for February 5. As per the deal, the undercard handicap race before the main Clásico El Derby will bear SIS’ name, thus attesting to the company’s commitment to LATAM sports.

The Valparaisío Sporting Club is the oldest track in the region and was founded in 1882. It has long partnered with SIS, which has supported the club with its betting services.

The agreement, SIS noted, follows on its other recent LATAM-oriented sponsorships. Before agreeing to sponsor the handicap race ahead of the Clásico El Derby, SIS also penned similar agreements with the Hipódromo Maroñas in Uruguay and Hipódromo Palermo in Argentina.

The supplier reaffirmed its commitment to local sports and its intentions to continue nurturing the LATAM racing sector in particular.

An Important Day for Chilean Racing

Michele Fischer, vice president of SIS Content Services, commented on the sponsorship agreement. She noted that the El Derby Day is something truly special for people in Chile, which is why SIS is happy to be a part of it.

Michele Fischer, vice president, SIS Content Services

Meanwhile, Valparaiso Sporting Club’s commercial manager, Hernán Robles said that the El Derby is an event that brings the Chilean racing community together. It is also a good occasion for the club to find new partners and make the racing event even better.

SIS is a highly valued partner and we are delighted to have their support to make the day special for all our stakeholders.

Hernán Robles, commercial manager, Valparaiso Sporting Club

SIS continues to expand its LATAM presence with strategic deals. Currently, the company delivers more than 35,000 live horse racing events each year, including some of the best races in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Uruguay.

Winter World Cup betting spree fuels £1bn profit at Ladbrokes owner | Ladbrokes

The owner of gambling brands Ladbrokes and Coral has raised its annual profit forecast after it benefited from customers betting on the men’s football World Cup.

Entain said it had seen a record number of customers in the final three months of 2022, an increase of 14% compared with a year earlier.

Despite the boost from the tournament, which took place in Qatar in November and December, Entain said this was slightly offset by disruption to some sports fixtures because of wintry weather.

The company, which owns betting shops as well as the bwin and partypoker online brands, said its total net gaming revenues rose by 11% between October and December, compared with a year earlier.

As a result, Entain said it expected to make a full-year pre-tax profit between £985m and £995m, up from its previous forecasts of between £925m and £975m, which would mean an increase in profit of about 12% compared with a year earlier.

Online net gaming revenues climbed by 12% in the final quarter, compared with a year earlier.

However, the company said its full-year online net gaming revenues fell by 1% year-on-year as it was affected by regulatory changes in the UK and Germany.

At its Ladbrokes and Coral betting shops, Entain said its retail net gaming revenues were 66% higher for the year, with volumes above pre-pandemic levels.

Investors reacted positively to the trading update, with Entain shares up more than 2% on the FTSE 100 at lunchtime on Wednesday.

Entain said it had been successful in its attempts to widen its appeal to customers.

Jette Nygaard-Andersen, Entain’s chief executive, said the company has expoeriuenced “strong financial, operational and strategic progress” in 2022.

The company said it had started 2023 with “good momentum” and it was confident growth would continue.

Entain’s results come less than six months after it was told by the Gambling Commission to pay a record £17m settlement over failings at its retail and online businesses to follow rules to tackle addiction and prevent money laundering.

Gaming Realms Posts Strong Results as CEO and CFO Change

Gaming Realms Posts Strong Results as CEO and CFO Change

The company’s new appointment coincides with a strong uptake in the company’s results during 2022, where revenue increased by the outstanding 27% on a year-over-year basis.

New Executive to Preside Over Company’s Strong Growth

Segal previously served as a financial officer for the company, and he is privy to the way its finances and operations come together. In his new position, he will be tasked with broader strategy and overseeing the company’s general direction rather than an individual sector.

His position won’t remain vacant either, as Geoff Green will step up as the new chief financial officer instead. Green worked as finance director for Gaming Realms until now. Gaming Realms is confident that these changes will enable it to remain on course and pursue further strengthening of its operations.

Gaming Realms has reported a very strong financial year indeed. The 12-month period ending on December 31 allowed the company to hit a total revenue of roughly $23 million, or a significant 27% increase from the previous reporting period. The company also expects its EBITDA to perform well, climbing by 36% to around $9.50 million.

These numbers are not yet final, but the company has enjoyed sustained growth in North America, where iGaming markets such as Connecticut and Ontario in the United States and Canada respectively, have bolstered the company’s results.

Gaming Realms Set to Maintain Strong Course in 2023

Gaming Realms reaped strong benefits from its presence in Connecticut during the last quarter of the financial year and it further enjoyed new entries into the United Kingdom, Italy, and Belgium. Michael Buckley, the company’s executive chairman, commented on the most recent results and company outlook:

The company has delivered another strong, full-year performance with growth coming from both existing and new markets.

Gaming Realms executive chairman Michael Buckley

Buckley remained optimistic about the company and said that the Slingo catalog has also been an important addition to the company’s overall offer and library of games. There was good momentum built up in 2022 that the executive said would carry on in the next year.

Buckley was similarly pleased with the new CEO and CFO appointments respectively. Gaming Realms is in a good position to continue growing in 2023 with the help of Segal and Green.
