82-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Discovery of Illegal Gambling Machines During Drug Bust

Elderly woman behind bars

Law enforcement officers were carrying out a drug bust in Alabama when they stumbled across an illegal gambling operation. During a search at a pool hall on Tuesday, they discovered six “cherry picker” gambling machines. They also seized gambling records, notes, and cash.

Deputies also found cocaine and ecstasy at the property.

According to Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch, people would use these machines and return another day to collect any winnings. The authorities arrested three women who reportedly work at the pool hall, including an 82-year-old who now faces gambling-related charges. Deputies also found cocaine and ecstasy at the property.

The search originated because of complaints people were making about drug sales at the property and individuals driving away at high speeds.

High Stakes Poker Season 10 Finale Ends With a Bang as Negreanu Goes Bust

High Stakes Poker Season 10 Finale Ends With a Bang as Negreanu Goes Bust

Season 10 of High Stakes Poker aired on PokerGO Tuesday night, and it wrapped with an exciting hand between Daniel Negreanu and Ben Lamb.

Episode 17 of the current season had the exact same cast of characters compared to last week’s episode. Negreanu and Lamb were seated with Bill Klein, Eric Hicks, Stanley Choi, Charles Yu, and Eric Persson.

Negreanu Bluffs Lamb

From middle position, Negreanu raised to $2,000 with 32 before his next-door neighbor Lamb three-bet to $7,000 with AQ. The two poker pros went heads up to a flop of AQK and Negreanu checked and then called a bet of $7,000 with three-high.

When the J appeared on the turn, both players checked to see the board pair on the river with the J. This time, “DNegs” fired out a bet of $12,000 while playing the board, knowing it was his only way to win the pot.

Lamb, sitting on two pair on a scary board, decided to fold and lost the pot to an inferior hand. Negreanu proudly showed the bluff. Moments later, Lamb missed a Royal Flush draw and lost a $93,000 pot to Choi.

Eric Persson

In one of the most thrilling hands of Episode 17, Persson did what he often does – attempt a big bluff into a player who was holding a monster.

Lamb opened the action with a raise to $3,000 with KJ and then Klein three-bet on the button to $11,000 with AA. Persson, holding 66 in the small blind, called, as did Lamb.

The flop was 2A3 and after two checks, Klein bet $8,000 with his set of aces. Persson was feeling frisky and raised it to $23,000, forcing Lamb off the pot. But, of course, the bet did nothing to eliminate top set.

Klein made the call to see a turn of 10, leaving Persson drawing dead. Still, he ripped off a bet of $39,000 and his opponent flicked in a call. The river was the K and this time Persson gave up and checked it over to the button, and then Klein made the shocking decision to fold, admitting he feared a flopped straight.

PokerGO then showed the chip stacks at that point in the show, and they were as follows:

Player Stack
Erick Persson $578,800
Bill Klein $363,700
Ben Lamb $355,100
Stanley Choi $326,400
Eric Hicks $237,700
Daniel Negreanu $210,500
Charles Yu $160,300

Negreanu Runs into a Tough Spot

On the final hand of the episode, we saw one of the best hands of the season. Yu started the action with a raise to $4,000 with 85 and then Negreanu called on the button with 109. Lamb, however, had a real hand in the small blind — QQ — and bumped it up to $19,000. Only Negreanu came along to the flop, which was 69Q.

Both players had a significant piece of that flop, so there was no surprise when the action went $17,500 bet from Lamb, followed by an all in for $119,000 and a snap-call.

The poker superstars agreed to run it twice with Negreanu needing to hit his flush draw without the board pairing in at least one of the runouts to avoid going bust. On the first board, he lost when it came 7 and then 4, securing Lamb would take at least half the $285,000 pot.

On the second runout, it was again favorable to Lamb when it came 10 and 6, and he took down the entire pot to put a conclusion to an exciting Season 10 of High Stakes Poker.

The show will return in the fall with Season 11, which has already been filmed. PokerGO has yet to determine a release date.

WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum Kicks Off WSOP Mystery Millions

WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum Kicks Off WSOP Mystery Millions

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is now underway and Las Vegas Aces star point guard Kelsey Plum was on hand Wednesday for a special “Shuffle Up and Deal” moment to kick off the first marquee event of the summer, the $1,000 Buy-In Mystery Millions.

The honorary tradition to commence the highly-anticipated tournament featuring a $1 million mystery bounty occured on Wednesday, May 31 at 10 a.m. as play got underway with the first of four flights from Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas.

Plum also unveiled the WSOP gold bracelet to be won in the Mystery Millions event. Plum is no stranger to championship jewelry, being a key member of the 2022 WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces team.

Following the honorary “Shuffle Up and Deal” moment, Plum was available for media interview opportunities along with WSOP Vice President Jack Effel, and then she took the opportunity to enter the tournament.

WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum

This year’s edition of the WSOP is poised to break records, and Plum is no stranger to record-breaking feats. She holds the record for NCAA all-time women’s leading scorer set during her time at the University of Washington.

As a highly touted shooting prospect, the San Antonio Stars drafted Plum into the WNBA by the first overall pick of the 2017 WNBA draft. The following year, the Stars relocated to Las Vegas and were renamed the Aces.

The Vegas team improved upon their record each year in 2018 and 2019 and went from one of the lowest in the standings to one of the top teams in the league with Plum on the roster.

Plum suffered an injury and missed the 2020 season, but she made an explosive return to the court in 2021 and earned the WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year honor.

2022 turned out to be a huge year for Plum as she became one of the top players in the league. Not only did she make her first WNBA All-Star Game appearance, but she was also named WNBA All-Star Game MVP.

Additionally, Plum was an integral part of the starting lineup that led the Las Vegas Aces to their 2022 WNBA Championship and secured the first major league title in Las Vegas history.

Mystery Millions

Getting the 2023 WSOP off to an exciting start is Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions; a mystery bounty event with a $1,000,000 guaranteed top bounty.

The popular format made its WSOP debut last year and generated a prize pool of $12,559,680 from 14,112 entrants. This year, the sensational event is set for the beginning of the series. It will surely attract another massive field as players have another way to make a life-changing score in addition to the normal payouts.

In 2022, Quincy Borland ultimately won the coveted bracelet and $750,120 first-place prize. However, there were several opportunities to take home a huge payday without making the final table for players who scored knockouts on Day 2.

Poker pro Matt Glantz was the fortunate player to pull the top million-dollar bounty and found himself with a seven-figure result despite finishing 40th in the tournament. Additionally, plenty of other high-value bounties were won with fifty $25,000+ cash prizes pulled from a chest full of envelopes.

This year, the long-awaited tournament will see thousands vie for a spectacular start to the series as WNBA champ Plum kicks off the festivities leading to a WSOP champ. Of course, PokerNews will provide live reporting coverage throughout the event, so stay tuned to find out who will be this year’s millionaire.
