The Super High Roller Series under the Triton Poker umbrella continues to entertain with Day 1 of the $250,000 NLH Luxon Invitational kicking off yesterday, which sees businessmen, VIPs and some of the world’s best poker players all pitted against each other.

Prior to the Luxon Invitational, another six-figure buy-in event was wrapped up and saw David Yan emerge as the victor from the $200,000 NLH 8-Handed tournament. Yan took home $3,052,002 following a three-way day that involved Nacho Barbero and 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad.

The event saw 51 entries and a further 30 reentries to take the final total to 81. This created a $16,200,000 prize pool and was shared among the top 13 players.

Final Day Action

Day 2 began with 46 players returning to the Triton felt, but the field was quickly whittled down to bring around the bubble. The action began to slow as no player wanted to be the last player to leave JW Marriott Grosvenor House empty-handed, but things picked up when Jorstad’s ace-king won a race against the pocket sevens held by Mikita Badziakouski to put everyone else remaining in the money.

Christoph Vogelsang, Daniel Dvoress, Sam Grafton and Seth Davies were next to depart to set up the eight-handed final table, which saw Jorstad enter as the chip leader.

Chris Brewer made an excellent fold to avoid becoming the first final table casualty. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner flopped the second-nut flush with a straight flush redraw while Jorstad turned quads jacks. Brewer did not improve on the river and managed to get away from his hand after he check-folded to the Jorstad’s all-in.

Short stack Juan Pardo bowed out in eighth after he got it in with king-six but could not improve against Yan’s king-ten. Despite earlier heroics, Brewer was the next to depart after he lost most of his stack after being outflipped by Timothy Adams. Danny Tang finished him off shortly after to bring the event six-handed.

Yan then closed the gap between himself and Jorstad after seeing off Aleksejs Ponakovs in sixth place. Tang picked up the first seven-figure payout of the day after his deep run ended in a fifth-place finish.

With four players remaining, discussions of a deal took place, but a consensus could not be agreed upon. The players returned, and Barbero soon took the proverbial bull by the horns and had half of the chips in play after he ousted Adams.

A deal was then struck between the final three, which saw Barbero lock up the lion’s share of the prize pool. The Argentinian guaranteed himself $3,445,807, while Yan and Jorstad would secure $2,952,002 and $2,766,191, respectively. The trio would then battle it out for the last $100,000 and the title.

Yan then went into heads-up play with a slim advantage over Barbero after the former cracked Jorstad’s pocket queens with pocket nines.

A topsy-turvy affair saw the chip lead exchanged several times until Yan sealed the win. The final hand of the day was ace-four versus king-six, with Yan holding the best hand, which held out following the runout. Yan picked up his first Triton title and saw his payout boosted to $3,052,002.

2023 Triton Poker London Series Updated Results

The 2023 Wynn Summer Classic ran from May 25 to July 19, offering $28 million in guaranteed prize pools across 48 events. At the end of it, 34,441 entrants competed and $64,529,520 in prize money was awarded.

The series featured events with buy-ins ranging from $400 to $111,000 and offered poker variants such as Pot-Limit Omaha, 5 Card PLO, Limit Omaha 8 / Stud 8, 2-7 Triple Draw, H.O.R.S.E., and 8 Game.

Among those to claim Wynn titles throughout the summer were Ari Engel ($1,100 Limit Omaha 8/B for $33,701), Chance Kornuth ($2,200 Mystery Bounty for $537,322), Bin Weng ($10,500 WPT Everyone for One Drop for $2,227,054), and Jonathan Jaffe ($111,000 Alpha8 for One Drop for $1,537,600).

Elvis Toomas Victorious in $1,100 NLH

On July 17, the final open event of the Wynn Summer Classic played out on the felt with the $1,100 NLH $100K GTD. The event attracted 377 entries to generate a prize pool of $369,460 paid to the top 39 finishers.

Some of the players who cashed but fell short of the final table include pro boxer Ryan Garcia (17th – $4,397), Brian Hastings (22nd – $3,436), and Aleksandr Gofman (38th – $2,457).

At the final table, Michael Dentale took home $47,794 for a third-place finish, Rania Nasreddine took home $57,331 for a second-place finish, and Elvis Toomas claimed the trophy and $67,830 for his third recorded live tournament victory and largest career score according to the Hendon Mob.

Ignacio Chavero Takes Down $10,500 NLH 6-Max

On July 15, a $10,500 NLH 6-Max tournament saw 115 entrants compete for a piece of a $1,150,000 prize pool.

The top 13 players made it into the money and among those who cashed were 2023 WSOP bracelet winners Nick Schulman (4th – $92,000) and Jan Arends (6th – $54,510), in addition to Brian Kim (7th – $45,770), Kevin Rabichow (10th – $28,865), and Dominik Nitsche (12th – $25,185).

At the end of it, Spain’s Ignacio Chavero defeated Russia’s Ramin Hajiyev in heads-up play to win the trophy and $324,132 for his biggest-ever live tournament score.

Most Memorable Hustler Casino Live Moments

Over the past two years, HCL has brought on some of the biggest names in poker such as Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, and Antonio Esfandiari. They’ve also introduced the poker world to some new entertaining characters like Alan Keating and Nik Airball, and have given the poker vloggers (Ethan “Rampage” Yau, Mariano) a seat at the table.

Feldman and Vertucci have even brought in a number of non-poker stars that have massive mainstream followings, including chess star Alexandra Botez, boxer Ryan Garcia, rapper Hoodie Allen, video gamer Ninja, and MrBeast, the biggest YouTuber in the world.

There have been numerous entertaining and memorable moments on the show since it first launched in Summer 2021, but none more so than the infamous Sep. 29, 2022 “J4 hand.”

Robbi Jade Lew, a new player on the show, was accused by HCL’s most popular player, Garrett Adelstein, of cheating during a six-figure pot when she made a call with jack-high on the turn with no draw and took down the pot against eight-high (drawing hand that missed).

The scandal picked up mainstream attention outside poker and was the talk of the industry for weeks. Adelstein hasn’t since returned to poker and won’t be invited back to Hustler Casino Live any time soon, if ever again.

There are also plenty of positive memorable HCL moments, starting with the epic “MrBeast Game” in May 2022. At one point in the stream, there were over 100,000 concurrent viewers across various platforms to watch some of the top YouTubers and Twitch streamers such as MrBeast, Ninja, and Botez battling in what just might be the loosest and most entertaining televised or live-streamed poker game in history.

More recently, July 2023 to be exact, HCL stepped outside the box and featured pot-limit Omaha for a week, and it turned out to be a hit. Thousands tuned in to watch Dwan, Airball, and others throw chips around for some of the largest PLO pots ever publicly seen.

Earlier in the summer, the show hosted the first ever true $1 million buy-in live-streamed cash games. During those four sessions, poker fans were treated to the largest live-streamed pot in history ($3.1 million won by Dwan) and an epic $1.1 million failed bluff by Doug Polk against Dwan, among other entertaining hands.

Hustler Casino Live has created superstars, hosted some of the biggest live-streamed pots ever, and delivered content that continually has the poker community talking. The only question now is can they keep it up for years to come? It probably wouldn’t be wise to bet against them.

There was nonstop poker action during the month of July, and there were no exceptions on the merged market of PokerStars New Jersey/Michigan, which hosted the Sunset Series. The PokerStars NJ/MI Sunset Series, which took place alongside a congruent series in the segregated Pennsylvania market, ran through July 31 and gave players the opportunity to qualify for upcoming live events at Live! Philadelphia.

Earlier in the series, PokerNews highlighted some of the Sunset Series winners on PokerStars NY/MI, including “OJ Limpsinnnn” and Dan “Dr Dad 1819” Schill.

All told, the series catered to a combined 7,832 entrants and awarded $298,328.80 in prize money.

Sun Sets On Debut Sunset Series

As the sun finally set on Sunset Series, the 72-event schedule gave players a lot to be excited about. The debut of Sunset Series wrapped up on Monday, boasting over half a million awarded in prize pools, six packages given to Summer Series, and many first-time events, including the debut of a mobile-only series event.

“MrMittens85” Wins Sunday Special – Series Edition

On July 28, another tournament was held to send award one lucky winner a live package to the upcoming live Live! Philadelphia stop. The $10 buy-in Event #23: NLHE [Summer Series – $1,100 Package] attracted 187 entrants and saw “tex-gambit” punch their ticket to the City of Brotherly Love.

Likewise, on July 30, Event #30: $20 NLHE [Summer Series – $2,200 Package] attracted 208 runners and saw “s7duz” also win a live poker package.

Additionally, there were some other big tournaments this past Sunday including Event # 32: $200 NLHE [Turbo, High Roller Sunset Chance], $15K Gtd, which attracted 146 players and awarded a $27,156 prize pool. Emerging victorious in that one was “ThaTsYY”, who earned $5,643.25 for their first-place finish.

While that was a nice payday, one player nearly earned three times that much in Event #31: $100 NLHE [Sunday Special – Series Edition], $75K Gtd, which saw 1,008 entrants generate a $92,534.40 prize pool. After nearly eight hours of play, it was “MrMittens85” claiming victory to the tune of $15,111.75.

Finally, the series wrapped with the aforementioned Event #36: $20 PLO [Hyper-Turbo, Progressive Total KO, PLO TKO], which had “DashBustsAgain” finish as the last player standing to win the title and $762.84 in prize money.

For Moura and Barone, they were surprised by 888poker with a buy-in to the Main Event, of which they would be playing for the first time.

Which Pro Falls at the First Hurdle?

Episode Two is where things really begin to heat up as the ambassadors jump into Main Event.

Barone, Mantovani and Saliba all hopped into Day 1c, while Moura and Navarro took their shot in Day 1d.

Excitement is in the air, with the pros eagerly awaiting for their respective shuffle up and deals.

Barone and Saliba noted that for Day 1 of the Main Event, they found themselves at some tough tables in the early goings, with Saliba having four-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman on her left.

However, despite a table change, Saliba was one of two 888poker ambassadors to hit the rail in the early goings. Mantovani was the second, which was also the first time he had exited poker’s World Championship on Day 1.

Dongwoo Ko can forever call himself a World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner after the Canadian grinder triumphed in the Colossus event at the 2023 WSOP Super Circuit London festival.

Ko only had six recorded live tournament cashes, totalling $4,754, before entering this event. Now, Ko has a £40,000 score on his record plus a coveted gold WSOPC ring to cherish forever.

Dozens of household names finished in the top 94 places and saw a return on their £450 investment. WSOP bracelet winner Craig McCorkell was one of the first top-tier players to bust inside the money. The likes of Artan Dedusha and Laurence Houghton joined McCorkell on the sidelines.

There were also cashes for Hanna Mdanat Jeries Yazan, who pulled £58,000 worth of mystery bounties out of the hat a couple of days ago, and for former professional footballer Jimmy Kebe.

Charles Akadiri, PLO champion Philipp Krieger, Harry Lodge, Philippe Souki, and Martins Adeniya also padded their bankrolls with prizes from the Colossus.

Rafael Navas Nabs a WSOP Super Circuit Ring and £96,500 in Cash

Sandeep Shah‘s first recorded cash since January 2015 came with a £4,000 payday after he bowed out in ninth place. Masahito Murao busted in eighth for £5,000 before Lorenc Boci bowed out in seventh for a £6,000 score.

Darius Cibulskas collected £8,000 for his sixth-place finish, his elimination locking in five-figure prizes for the surviving players.

Fifth place and £10,000 went to Karim Jomeen, which helps push his lifetime career earnings towards the $350,000 mark.

Another Karim, this time Karim Louis, fell in fourth for £13,000, which is Louis’ second-largest tournament haul. Only Louis’ runner-up finish in the 2008 GUKPT Brighton Main Event, worth £46,200, weighs in heavier.

The heads-up stage was reached when Joel Zeligman ran out of steam. Zeligman’s third-place finish resulted in a £17,726 payday and left Ko in a one-on-one battle with Jamie Brown.

There was no deal struck despite a £16,000 difference in the prize money, and that lack of a deal meant Ko collected £40,000 and the tournament’s ring when he defeated Brown in the final battle. Brown banked £24,000, his largest haul since September 2010.

Laura Curry Crowned Seniors Champion After a Three-Way Deal

Laura Curry‘s first in-the-money finish ended in victory and a WSOP Circuit ring after the American came out on top in the £560 buy-in Seniors event. Curry was involved in a three-handed deal that saw her bank £8,010 and the aforementioned gold ring.

Curry came close to capturing a WSOPC ring in October 2019, when she finished second in a $400 buy-in event at WSOPC Choctaw. She also finished sixth in the WSOPC North Carolina Seniors event in November 2022. Curry has now achieved her goal of winning some WSOP hardware.

Two well-known British players were involved in the three-handed deal. Jeraint “JJ” Hazan finished in third place, and banked £6,645. Hazan is usually found playing Pot-Limit Omaha, but it appears his No-Limit Hold’em game is also on point. Justin Kyriakides, who finished second to Richard Ashby in the £1,100 PLO event at the start of the series, finished second again, this time for £5,690.

Before that deal was struck, the final table had to be whittled down.

Richard Ashby Adds a WSOP Circuit Ring to His WSOP Bracelet

Andrew Murphy was the first finalist out of the door. Ian Burgess joined him before Howard Smith crashed out in seventh. Smith recently finished 42nd from 8,180 entrants in the $1,000 Seniors event at the 2023 WSOP in Las Vegas.

Stephen Morana‘s elimination left five players in the hunt for the title, with the exits of Anthony Marks and Gary Fisher, the latter recording his fourth senior’s cash in the space of a couple of months, leaving the three dealmakers to fight it out for the ring, and we already know how that went.

A world record was set at Playground Poker Club in Canada on Wednesday when a poker bad beat jackpot hit in a low-stakes cash game for CAD $2,590,185 (approximately $1.9 million USD).

The popular Quebec card room shared photos on social media of the hand along with the players involved celebrating. When it comes to a bad beat jackpot, it is customary for the player who lost the hand to receive the largest chunk of the pot and the winning player to also secure a big portion of the reward. Additionally, the other players at the table then split the remainder of the pot.

Details on how much each player involved will receive isn’t yet publicly available and we will update this article when the casino releases it to us. But we do have the hand and it is as follows:

On a board of 2♦7♦10♦10♥8♦, the player with 10♣10♠ was likely ecstatic knowing that he couldn’t possibly lose the hand even though he didn’t have the stone-cold nuts with quads. That is because even if his hand was beat, it would set off the bad beat jackpot, which would pay life-changing money.

As it turned out, quads were in fact no good as the opponent turned over 6♦9♦ for a straight flush. That triggered the largest bad beat jackpot in live poker history.

All the Largest Poker Bad Beat Jackpots Happen at Playground

Coincidentally, Playground Poker Club is also home to the previous largest bad beat jackpot and it was, oddly enough, a similar hand. In June 2022, quad 10’s also lost to a straight flush for a $2.2 million jackpot ($1.64 million USD).

Later that summer at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, a $1.2 million jackpot was set off when quad aces were cracked by the royal flush of Raymond Broderson, a local low-stakes poker player.

The DeepStack Championship Poker Series ran from May 22 to July 31 and featured nearly $14 million in guaranteed prize pools across dozens of events at Venetian Las Vegas.

That number was smashed as $27,391,509 in prize money was awarded and a total of 27,489 entrants competed in the Venetian summer series.

Among those to claim titles during the series were Valeriano Toledano (Event #36: $2,500 NLH DeepStack Championship for $183,859), David Gutfreund (Event #38: $1,600 NLH Seniors for $110,533), Chin Wei Lim (Event #44: $1,100 NLH UltimateStack for $115,331), and Danny Chang (Event #46: $800 PLO 8/B for $29,460).

Another winner was Stephen Sola, who took down a pair of tournaments only a few days apart as the series winded down (Event #71: $500 NLH EpicStack for $9,396 and Event #74: $500 NLH EpicStack for $8,000).

Thomas Boivin Victorious in $2,500 NLH Mystery Bounty

The $2,500 NLH Mystery Bounty attracted 671 players to generate a prize pool of $1,516,460, with $671,000 set aside for the mystery bounties.

At the end of it, Belgian Thomas Boivin claimed the trophy and the $136,792 top prize, in addition to $57,000 in bounties, after he defeated Israel’s Ran Shahar in heads-up play. At the time of his victory, Boivin broke through the $5 million mark in total live earnings and moved up to second on Belgium’s all-time money list according to the Hendon Mob.

Others among the top 84 finishers to grab a piece of the prize pool include David Peters (22nd – $6,401), Joris Ruijs (33rd – $5,448), Ryan Laplante (65th – $3,344), and Romain Lewis (81st – $3,082).

Mikiyo Aoki Wins Venetian LIPS Ladies Event

On June 28, the $500 NLH LIPS Ladies Event saw a total of 273 entrants battle it out on the felt for a piece of the $115,206 prize pool paid to the top 35 finishers.

Among those to make it into the money but fall short of the final table were Katerina Lukina (16th – $1,463), Brittany Spain (22nd – $1,166), and Jamie Kerstetter (33rd – $1,023).

At the end of it, Montana’s Mikiyo Aoki took the trophy and $20,317 after striking a heads-up deal with Texas’ Dusti Smith.

Aoki is no stranger to success in these types of events, as she finished runner-up in the 2014 WSOP Ladies Event and third in the 2021 WSOP Ladies Event. With this result, Aoki moved up to sixth on Montana’s all-time money list.

On June 27, a $1,600 NLH Monster Bounty tournament ran with a $300K GTD, offering players $500 bounties from the start and $2,500 bounties once players were in the money. 580 entrants created a prize pool of $826,500 paid out to the top 73 finishers.

Among those to run deep but fall short of the final table were Andre Butler (17th – $3,688), Rodney Turvin (31st – $2,645), Zachary Hall (37th – $2,294), and Nicholas Seward (44th – $2,294).

Anthony Spinella was the last man standing and took the $66,157 first-place prize after defeating Andrew Tang in heads-up play. With the result, Spinella notched his ninth recorded victory and moved up to over $4.4 million in live tournament earnings according to the Hendon Mob.

2023 DeepStack Championship Poker Series Winners

The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHPRO) is in full swing in Hollywood, Florida as dozens of events take place between July 26 and Aug. 8. One of the largest buy-in events on the schedule, Event #23: $10,000 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em, saw longtime pro Justin Liberto defeating veteran opponent Dan Heimiller to win $257,000.

The high roller event had a prize pool of $798,000 and drew 84 top poker players, including Chance Kornuth, who Liberto eliminated on the money bubble, as well as final tablists Alex Foxen (4th – $65,500), recent three-time WSOP bracelet winner Chad Eveslage (5th – $49,900) and 2021 GPI Female Player of the Year Nadya Magnus (9th – $25,800).

Brutal Turn Leads to Another Runner-Up Finish For Heimiller

Liberto, a pro from Maryland who had $5.4 million in Hendon Mob earnings headed into the event, entered the final table with the chip lead, according to live updates, which he was able to use to take the event down.

After getting heads-up against Heimiller, Liberto flopped a set of jacks before Heimiller made a set of tens with an unfortunate turn card. All the chips got in before the blank river and Liberto locked up the six-figure victory and secured the SHRPO trophy.

Heimiller, who was looking to add to $7.3 million in live earnings, has had a stellar summer that included a third-place finish in the $1,000 Seniors Championship for $356,166 at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) before finishing runner-up to Josh Arieh in the $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. High Roller for $439,622.

Liberto, meanwhile, had a fourth-place finish at the WSOP in the $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship for $306,555.

Other SHRPO Winners

There were plenty of big winners during the first week of the SHRPO. The series kicked off with Event #1: $400 Deep Stack NLH, which drew 6,253 for a prize pool of over $2 million. In the end, it was Johnny Bromberg left standing to win the trophy and $219,090.

Another big winner was Sam Sternfield, who got through a field of 173 players in Event #5: $600 Limit Omaha 8 to win $23,260. Meanwhile, Chris Tsiolis took down Event #11: $600 Mixed PLO for $20,425 and Ethan Bennett emerged victorious in Event #12: $400 Deep Stack NLH for $18,001.

Other SHPRO winners so far include Antuan Bunkley (Event #15: $300 Quad Stack Black Chip Bounty NLH – $8,239), John Binns (Event #19: $400 Black Chip Bounty NLH – $9,810), Christopher Hice (Event #20: $600 Deep Stack Turbo PLO– $8,690) and Min Zhang (Event #26: $1,100 Deep Stack Turbo NLH – $23,450).
