Nikita Krylov vs Ryan Spann UFC Fight Night 220 Odds, Time, and Prediction

Nikita Krylov vs Ryan Spann UFC Fight Night 220 Odds, Time, and Prediction

Nikita Krylov is 29-9 overall with two straight wins in the UFC. Can he add a third one to the list? Not if you’re asking Ryan Spann, his opponent in the UFC Fight Night 220 headliner. The American fighter is 21-7 and is also on a two-win streak.

Nikita Krylov vs Ryan Spann Odds

Moneyline Odds
Nikita Krylov -186
Ryan Spann +144

When, Where, and How to Watch?

  • Place: UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Date: Saturday, February 25, 2023
  • Time: ~9:00 PM ET
  • How to Watch: UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+

Nikita Krylov Keeps Rising Through the UFC Light Heavyweight Ranks

Krylov’s UFC story started in 2018 and since he’s 4-4 in this promotion. That might not seem impressive, but all four of his UFC losses happened to elite fighters – Jan Blachowicz, Glover Teixeira, Magomed Ankalaev, and Paul Craig.

The fighters he defeated in the UFC are Ovince Saint Preux, Johnny Walker, Alexander Gustafsson, and Volkan Oezdemir. For his Round 1 KO win over Gustafsson, Krylov received the Performance of the Night bonus from the UFC.

It was his 12th win by this method, while he also has 15 wins by submission. That’s no surprise knowing that he’s got experience with several wrestling/grappling disciplines, including submission fighting and army hand-to-hand combat. The bad news for him is that Span has a similar set of skills.

Ryan Spann Ready to Upset the Odds

Ryan Spann is seen as the underdog in Saturday’s fight, but we don’t think this guy should be underestimated. The American is 21-7 overall with a 7-2 record in the UFC. He didn’t fight against as strong opponents as Krylov, but he does have some great wins in his portfolio.

For instance, last May, Spann defeated Ion Cutelaba by submission, which was his 12th win by this method. This isn’t a surprise knowing that he’s got extensive experience with Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He also has six wins by KO/TKO, as well as three by decision.

Nikita Krylov vs Ryan Spann Prediction

Nikita Krylov is the favorite for a reason, but this isn’t going to be an easy fight for him. Sure, the guy has 93% finishes in his career, but we suspect it could be different this time. Instead of Krylov winning quickly, we expect to see a real battle in Vegas, with the fight winner probably being decided by the judges.

Picks: Nikita Krylov to win by decision

The award is only accredited to companies that have shown exceptional commitment to building an inclusive and robust company culture that encourages healthy and people-centric business decisions.

This distinction follows the acquisition of Endeavor, a sports betting provider, by OpenBet and at a time when the company is adding more team members to its lineup. The company’s London hub will now have an even more powerful argument to make when looking for new specialists.

OpenBet’s London hub also brings together a motley bunch of industry specialists who have product development and trading expertise, business support and operations professionals, among people with engineering and technological training.

The Best Workplaces list is part of the Great Place to Work, an international institute, and it’s a definitive award that recognizes exceptional working conditions. Commenting on this opportunity, OpenBet CEO Jordan Levin was similarly pleading with the opportunity and said:

As part of our continued ambitions to take the sports betting entertainment sector forward, we take great pride in establishing positive workplace cultures that inspire individuals across all our locations worldwide.

OpenBet CEO Jordan Levin

He further noted that the London hub was instrumental to the company’s success and its ability to become one of the leading brands in the sports betting vertical across Europe. OpenBet is also competing well in international markets, and all of this is owed to the success of the London office to some extent.

OpenBet Enjoys Strong Performance over the Past Months

The distinction by Great Place to Work is a further confirmation of the company’s ability to create workplaces that make people perform to the best of their ability. OpenBet has also been enjoying strong performance around the time of major sports events.

The company reported robust results during the last Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles driving a record sports betting handle in the United States in particular. OpenBet is also working to boost the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC)’s PlayNow platform.

New South Wales Moving to Restrict Slot Machines Statewide

Unions NSW Support Perrottet’s Proposal for Cashless Gaming Cards

The problem of money laundering was the one to receive the most attention up until recently. However, as the citizens’ voices begin to be heard more and more, public perception is also becoming an important factor in the government’s decisions.

NSW Government Addressing Slot Machines

The Liberal and Nationals New South Wales (NSW) government started paying closer attention to slot machines across the state. A recent report by The Strait Times described how the government is considering going fully cashless and introducing some stricter limitations not only on the way people use the machines, but also limit their number across the state.

While going cashless is more of an anti-money laundering measure, people are increasingly showing their concern over the hugely popular slot machines. Hence, the government is looking into limiting the working hours for establishments that have slots, with each party planning to buy back 2,000 machines from them over the next five years.

The Strait Times’ report shared the story of a woman being casually exposed to slot machines in Sydney’s pubs and clubs. This developed into a problem for her soon after she turned 18 – the legal age to enter and consume alcohol in the state. Her story, spanning over a few years, is just one of many, leading the government to also consider imposing daily loss limits.

Another proposition has been to find ways to involve family members and friends of problem gamblers. The new policy will enable relatives and friends to apply for the problem gambler to be barred from using these machines if their gambling habits become too much of a problem. The end date for changes in legislation is December 31, 2028.

Winds of Change in Gambling Across Australia

Slot machines are widely available across pubs and clubs throughout NSW, which makes them easily accessible. This led to their number reaching more than 86,600 in mid-2022. This is 30% more than the number of machines in the states of Queensland and Victoria combined. Another worrying trend is that the lowest-income households have the highest use of slots.

Their sheer number came under the spotlight amid what started as allegations that they were used for money laundering, which was consequently proved as a fact, however, the most recent concerns lie in what these high levels of accessibility mean for the regular citizen. So, the focus for change now doesn’t lie in simply tackling money laundering, but also problem gambling.

As the number of victims of problem gambling increases throughout the entire country, and the public perception keeps becoming increasingly negative, changes were bound to come. The government’s five-year plan aims to address many of the problems associated with slots and poker machines, and money laundering and preserving the public’s health are top priorities.

Genius Sports Becomes Official F2P Provider for XFL

Genius Sports Becomes Official F2P Provider for XFL

The move is designed to further help enhance XFL’s prominence in sports life in the United States. Genius will be able to distribute official data from every league game and have exclusive rights to do so across its global network of media and betting partners.

XFL and Genius Sports Ready to Drive Fan Engagement and Revenue

This will enable sportsbooks to provide accurate data and betting options to customers for every XFL event, thus driving engagement and boosting overall fan satisfaction. XFL data will also be available to brands and advertisers with all the information managed intelligently by the Genius Marketing Suite, which is the company’s unifying engagement platform.

Genius Sports will move forward as a trusted partner for the XFL, helping the league to significantly expand its digital audience and also leading to better engagement opportunities with players. The company also built the XFL Pick’Em game which is available to fans for free and can be downloaded for them to engage and enjoy the experience even more.

The app contains all sorts of interesting activities, including bets on various games, players and teams, as part of the XFL. Genius Sports and XFL have seen the value of “gamifying the experience,” meaning that fans will be engaged in what transpires in the games and be tuning in to watch more often, while also growing in numbers.

Besides, for those who manage to climb the F2P weekly rank lists, the XFL and Genius Sports are planning to offer a number of excellent prizes, such as FL Shop gift cards, a trip to the 2023 XFL Championship Game, and a lot more. XFL chief business & legal officer Wendy Bass has welcomed the opportunity to see the league grow its opportunities for fan engagement.

Bass hailed Genius Sports and said that it was a great partner and one that the XFL was happy to align itself. She further noted that Genius Sports has established itself as a leader in engaging with the next generation of fans.

Genius Sports EVP Sean Conroy was similarly pleased with the opportunity and emphasized its wider implications for the business as such. Having a robust data strategy, he noted, was a good way to drive new revenue opportunities and boost fan engagement. The XFL is a professional American football league which has been on and off for the past few decades.

The league was finally restored on January 25, 2018, but it soon faced a new existential threat brought about by the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak. The XFL managed to survive the shuttering of global sports events and has emerged doubly motivated to become a permanent fixture of the American betting and sports calendar.

World Wide Web Inventor Says Crypto Is Gambling

World Wide Web Inventor Says Crypto Is Gambling

Tim Berners-Lee was talking to “Beyond The Valley” podcast, a CNBC production, last Friday when he shared his thoughts on the industry and how he felt about cryptocurrencies. He didn’t hesitate to highlight the high-risk profile of such assets – whether when considered as an investment or as part of the broader financial system.

Crypto Is Gambling and Dangerous, But Blockchain Makes Sense

Digital currencies are “only speculative,” Berners-Lee cautioned and said that the current build-up in the crypto industry was reminiscent of how investors inflated internet stocks in the 2000s when a dot-com bubble burst and wiped off a lot of value for a lot of people. This speculative nature, Berners-Lee further warned, was dangerous on many levels.

It’s basically the same as getting a kick out of gambling he explained, and added he would not consider spending his own funds into the sector. Berners-Lee did not condemn the entire crypto sector, however, and acknowledged that the blockchain as an accountancy system was a robust and solid solution that deserved more attention.

In fact, blockchain remittances would make it easier for the financial world to transfer money, reduce costs, and boost efficiencies, Bernes-Lee suggest. However, his scepticism on crypto is not entirely surprising, as he is hardly the only prominent person to have urged caution – at the very least – when approaching the crypto sector.

Charlie Munger, a known critic of the sector, took the opportunity last week to once again call gambling “stupid” and went even further, referring to it as “worthless shit.” Such vitriol is hardly justifiable, but it also refers to a huge split between crypto hawks and doves.

However, it’s equally important to keep track of crypto for what it can offer and address its dangers head-on rather than falling into a pre-determined way of thinking about the industry that is not based in fact.

Patrik Antonius Wins $1,978,000 Pot, the Largest Ever Broadcast on a US Live Stream

Patrik Antonius Wins $1,978,000 Pot, the Largest Ever Broadcast on a US Live Stream

On Sunday night, Patrik Antonius made poker history by winning a $1,978,000 million pot, the largest-ever broadcast on a United States live stream. It beat out the previous record of $1,158,000 from Hustler Casino Live (HCL) by $820,000! In terms of the largest pot ever broadcast, that record of $2,353,500 is from a Triton Poker hand between Paul Phua and Tom Dwan.

Antonius, who made headlines for making an unbelievable call last year, also holds the record for largest online poker pot for taking down a $1,356,947 pot against Viktor “Isildur1” Blom on Full Tilt Poker back in 2009. However, whether or not that record still stands is a point of controversy as in January 2022, Tony G apparently won a pot worth $1,820,783 against Leon Tsoukernik, though the hand took place in a crypto game on CoinPoker.

The live hand took place on the third night of the highly-publicized No Gamble, No Future “Cash of the Titans”, which saw six players buy-in for $1 million while also putting up $100,000 on the side for whoever finished with the most profit. Per rules, each player had a pair of $500,000 bullets, giving them the option to either buy in for the full $1 million or to start with $500,000 and add on later.

To start the game, which began at $500/$500 but with escalating blinds, each player opted to start with $500,000. A pair of three-hour levels were played each day.

Is this Hero Call by Patrik Antonius the Sickest Ever in a $25K High Roller?

The Hand

Eric Persson
Eric Persson

About 30 minutes into the game, which was being played with blinds of $1,000/$2,000/$2,000, recent PokerNews Podcast guest Eric Persson, who had been driving much of the early action, raised to $7,000 from the hijack with the {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Rob Yong called from the button with the {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} before Antonius looked down at the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} in the small blind and popped it to $30,000.

Persson called, as did Yong, and the flop came down {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Antonius had the nut flush draw on the paired board and bet $40,000 into the $94,000 pot. Persson snap-raised to $140,000 with his inferior flush draw, Yong got out of the way, and Antonius clicked it back to $250,000.

Persson wasted little time in calling and the {a-Spades} appeared on the turn. Antonius, who was guaranteed to win the hand if it got to showdown, bet $150,000 and Persson moved all in for $692,000. Antonius had $542,000 behind and thought for about 10 seconds before calling off.

Everyone in the game had put up $100,000 on the side to go to the player who finished with the largest profit, and prior to the start of play they agreed all-in pots would only be run once and no deals would be made. As such, the meaningless {j-Spades} was run out on the river and Antonius won a nearly $2 million pot.

“That is the biggest pot in US televised poker history,” commentator Jeff Platt exclaimed.

Co-host Brent Hanks added: “We have just witnessed something extraordinary.”

Persson was left with just $67,000 and would eventually lose that. Because he had already exercised his second $500,000 bullet, per the rules of the game he was eliminated from contention.

Robl Wins $1,269,000 Pot

Andrew Robl
Andrew Robl

Not long after, Antonius was involved in another big pot. It happened when Persson limped first to act with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Antonius raised to $10,000 on the button with pocket nines. Andrew Robl then three-bet to $52,000 from the big blind with the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Persson folded.

Antonius called and the flop fell {q-}{9-}{8-} with two spades to give Robl a straight and Antonius a set. The former led out for $65,000, the latter called, and the dealer burned and turned the {3-Spades}. Robl bet $140,000 into the pot of $140,000 and Antonius called to see the {4-Hearts} on the river.

Robl bet $375,000 and Antonius gave it some thought before making the call. Unfortunately for him, his set was no good and Robl claimed the $1,269,000 pot.

Standings in Penultimate Level

The \”Cash of the Titans\” competitors.

Despite Antonius winning the huge pot, he was still significantly behind Robl in terms of overall profit. With one level to go, Robl was up $1.1 million, well ahead of Antonius’ $484,000, while MJ Gonzales was the only other player in the black to the tune of $34,000 in profit.

As such, Robl was in prime position to capture the $100,000 set aside by each player – a $600,000 pot – for whoever finished the three-day game with the most profit.

Player Stack Profit
Andrew Robl $1,626,000 $1,126,000
Patrik Antonius $1,484,000 $484,000
MJ Gonzales $1,034,000 $34,000
Markus Gonsalves $763,000 -$237,000
Rob Yong $593,000 -$407,000
Eric Persson -$1,000,000

$2 Billion Powerball Jackpot Winner Steps Forward in California

$2 Billion Powerball Jackpot Winner Steps Forward in California

After months of the world waiting to learn who the lucky player was, the man who bought a record-breaking $2.04Bn Powerball lottery ticket in November has finally come forward after three months to claim his massive winnings. Lottery winners have one year to come forward or they lose the money forever.

Edwin Castro bought his ticket at a gas station in Altadena, California, and has been flying below the radar and out of the public eye since the winning numbers were announced. On Tuesday, California Lottery Director Alva Johnson said that Castro had won the “unbelievable and historic” prize after the jackpot continued to grow drawing after drawing last fall and as each drawing passed, no winning jackpot numbers were announced.

Winner Takes All

He won’t have to share the prize with other players as he was the only ticket buyer that week who matched all five regular numbers plus the all-important Powerball to make a little piece of paper worth billions of dollars.

Rather than speak in public about the win, Castro released a statement that he was “shocked and ecstatic,” and that he was happy to learn that California public schools were also big winners in the draw.

The California public school system from kindergartens to universities collected a whopping $156.3 million from the lottery pool in addition to Castro taking home the jackpot, Johnson said.

Castro commented: “As someone who received the rewards of being educated in the California public education system, it’s gratifying to hear that as a result of my win, the California school system greatly benefits as well,” according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Rather than collecting yearly disbursements for the entire amount over a 30-year period via an annuity, Castro chose the “lump-sum” option which amounted to almost $1 billion ($997.6b), according to lottery officials.

Since neither he nor lottery officials revealed any more about the winner than his name, we would have to assume he resides in California in order to figure out how much he might net in the end. California doesn’t tax lottery winnings but some states do.

The IRS via the Lottery automatically withholds 24% of big winnings with the winner being subject to as much as 13% more for a total tax hit of 37%. The initial tax would have left him with $758.2 million. The top U.S. tax rate is 37% in total, so his take-home would be $634,785,984. If he lives in another state that taxes lottery winnings he could take another hit of 3% to more than 10% of the win.

Nice work if you can get it!

With that much “found money” it’s no wonder Castro chose to “largely remain private.” California law only requires that his name and how he chose to be paid – lump sum or annuity, be revealed.

California public schools were not the only collateral winners alongside Castro. Retailers who sell winning jackpot tickets are also awarded .5% of the jackpot value with a cap of $1,000,000 and the owner of Joe’s Mobile Service in Altadena has already collected his million-dollar check.

The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are about one in 292.2 million. The jackpot was hit seven times in 2022.

California lottery spokesperson, Carolyn Becker, said at a press conference at state lottery headquarters in Sacramento Tuesday: “This is a history-making day here at the California Lottery. Edwin Castro shares in our love for California public schools on this Valentine’s Day — couldn’t be more fitting.”

TwitchCon 2023 Dates and Locations Announced

TwitchCon 2023 Dates and Locations Announced

The excitement of TwitchCon

Twitch is a live-streaming platform where people worldwide can come together to enjoy entertainment from their favorite content creators. However, the excitement doesn’t start and end on the site itself.

where viewers and creators on the platform can come together

Twice a year, Twitch hosts TwitchCon, a streaming convention held in iconic locations worldwide, where viewers and creators on the platform can come together. It’s a fantastic opportunity for fans to meet their favorite streamers, attend performances and events, and experience esports competitions.

TwitchCon 2023 dates

TwitchCon started in 2015, only being held in a single location. Historically, TwitchCon was hosted somewhere in California, but in 2019 Twitch added a European show due to demand.

In a February 16 blog post, Twitch announced the two locations for TwitchCon 2023: TwitchCon Europe in Paris, France July 8-9 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and TwitchCon North America in Las Vegas, Nevada October 20-22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The news that TwitchCon will indeed take place in Las Vegas this year confirms previous rumors that Sin City would host the North American convention. Some, though, consider this move slightly ironic, given Twitch’s prior ban of gambling on their platform.

This will be the first time that TwitchCon will come to Paris. Last year, TwitchCon 2022 took place in Amsterdam and San Diego.

How to buy tickets

Convention-goers typically buy tickets before attending the event. At this time, tickets are not yet on sale for TwitchCon 2023.

Many attendees still book a hotel in advance, even if tickets have not been made available. Hotels can be booked through TwitchCon, with information including accommodations based on walking distance and traveler ratings. These hotel options through TwitchCon are usually discounted, though attendees can of course book via any method they would like.

What to expect

Every year, TwitchCon hosts events, shows, and meet and greets for the attendees. Many streamers attend the convention, which gives fans the unique opportunity to meet their favorite creators face-to-face. Additionally, there are MeetUps onsite and countless community meeting areas.

panels, drag shows, and Twitch Rivals showdowns at TwitchCon this year

Though creators often account for a large number of TwitchCon attendees, it is open to the entire Twitch community. There are also panels, drag shows, and Twitch Rivals showdowns at TwitchCon this year.

There will likely be more entertainment surprises revealed, and as the event grows near, Twitch will release more information.

Investigation Uncovers More William Hill Embezzlement Culprits

Man clutching briefcase overflowing with cash

More people in trouble

After already identifying two employees for allegedly embezzling over $280,000 from sports betting kiosks, William Hill has found additional suspects. It now appears that at least another two people were part of the scheme.

spotted on surveillance footage at multiple casinos withdrawing money from betting kiosks

Anthony Cuddeback and Persha Stanley were both charged this week with numerous offenses related to the withdrawal of fraudulent cash adjustments. They allegedly have links to former William Hill supervisor Shravan Singh, who appears to have headed up the illegal scheme. The pair were spotted on surveillance footage at multiple casinos withdrawing money from betting kiosks, with the transactions authorized by Singh.

It is unclear as to what sort of penalties each of the accused will face; it also is unknown if any more people also played a role in the embezzlement scheme.

Flying under the radar

State investigators discovered that Singh had approved a lot of sports betting kiosk cash adjustments for amounts larger than $500. He could hide these transactions for a while by delaying their reporting, altering the records, or simply not reporting them at all. Eventually, he was found to have facilitated over 3,000 fraudulent transactions over a 16-month period. William Hill initially did not expect the embezzled sum to be anywhere as high as $280,000.

helped load the money onto the operator’s retail betting kiosks in Nevada

The other employee linked to the scheme is Paige Steiner. She was a customer service agent who allegedly helped load the money onto the operator’s retail betting kiosks in Nevada. Co-conspirators would then print the altered kiosk vouchers and cash them out.

Identifying the irregularities

An internal audit initially triggered suspicions at William Hill. The company had already been investigating three other employees who allegedly ran their own scheme to embezzle almost $72,000 before becoming suspicious of Singh.

William Hill officials notified the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) of the irregularities and the NGC began its own investigation in December. Investigators were able to monitor Singh’s computer activity, showing how he helped his co-conspirators redeem vouchers at kiosks in Nevada.

William Hill is a Caesars Entertainment-owned brand and the largest operator of retail sportsbooks in Nevada. It has sports betting offerings in at least 100 locations in the state.

Cameras at the kiosks took images of the culprits, which helped in their identification. None of them had any significant betting history, so investigators concluded that they were in on the scheme.
