Indiana Betting with Handle of $431.4M in December

Indiana published data about the performance of its sports betting industry in December. The industry recorded favorable revenues despite a noticeable handle drop.

Indiana Publishes Data about the Performance of Its Sports Betting Industry

The Hoosier State reported that its sports betting industry posted a slight decline. According to official data, the vertical recorded a handle of $431.4 million for the period. This figure represents a 4.6% month-on-month increase from November when the industry earned $452.3 million. It also outlines a 6.8% year-on-year decline from December 2021 when the vertical reported handle of $463 million.

Despite the lower handle, sports betting operators in Indiana actually recorded increased revenues for the period. Sportsbooks posted adjustable gross revenue of $42.7 million for December. This figure shows a stellar increase of 65.6% from the $25.8 million the industry earned in December 2021. It also highlights a slight 6.8% month-on-month increase from the $40 million recorded in November 2022.

Thanks to the great performance of sports betting in the Hoosier State, sportsbooks contributed $4.1 million to local taxes. Meanwhile, Indiana‘s sports betting handle for the entire 2022 sat at $4.4 billion for the entire 2022.

Additional Notes about Sports Betting in December

Taking a look at which sports disciplines performed the best, we see that football continues to be the fan-favorite in Indiana. The beloved sport was singlehandedly responsible for over a quarter of the total December handle, with fans wagering over $136.2 million on their favorite teams and players.

Basketball was not far behind, posting a handle of $130 million across all sports betting operators in the state. Meanwhile, $119 million in bets was placed on parlay bets and another $46 million was wagered on other sports.

The report noted that Blue Chip Casino and its partner FanDuel was the fan-favorite operator, recording a total handle of $138.3 million. This translated into $16 million in revenue. Meanwhile, the DraftKings sportsbook at the Ameristar Casino recorded handle of $137.6 million and revenue of $12.7 million. Coming up third is Belterra Casino another company partnering with FanDuel. It earned $5.1 million from a handle of $42.8 million.

In the meantime, Hoosiers continue to push for the legalization of online casino games in the state. Local lawmakers hope to expand the state’s gambling market in 2023 and introduce new verticals. If everything goes according to plan, legal online casinos and racinos may become a reality in a few months. The approximate date for the launch of online gambling – if it‘s approved – is September 1, 2023.

Team PokerStars’ Nick Walsh Shares His 5 Tips for Tournament Package Winners

Team PokerStars' Nick Walsh Shares His 5 Tips for Tournament Package Winners

Winning a package to a major live event is likely to see you compete in the biggest tournament of your life; it may even be your first-ever prestigious poker tour appearance. Perhaps you have won a package-awarding satellite to the Irish Open online at PokerStars or are on cloud nine after getting your hands on a 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) package, but what do you do next?

Nick Walsh of Team OP-Poker knows a thing or two when it comes to preparing for live tournaments and things you should do once you are at the venue. Walsh recently posted a video on the PokerStars Learn website that highlights five tips for tournament package winners, although they are also perfect for anyone that is inexperienced in the live poke world.

Get Some Practice

PokerStars EPT Prague

Walsh suggests you should get in some practice in the build-up to your live event. It makes perfect sense if you think about it, especially if you can find a tournament that has a similar structure to the one you have won a package to.

Finding a live cash game to play is also good preparation because it helps you get into the flow of how live poker works.

“Do literally whatever it takes to prepare yourself for an event and settle your nerves before taking part,” Walsh said. “If you are inexperienced in playing live poker or primarily play online, it can be challenging to simply jump a live poker game when you are out of practice.”

Make Some Connections Before Attending the Event

Winning a package to an event such as the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) is much more than the poker; it is an amazing experience that you should grab with both hands. If you reach out to other package winners or talk to some of your fellow players who you know are traveling to the same festival, it can make the whole experience even more enjoyable.

“Getting the full experience is so much easier if you reach out to your fellow players beforehand, so when you arrive, you can meet up, grab a drink, check out the beach etc,” Walsh explained.

“Attending a big event alone can be quite daunting, so getting to know a couple of people beforehand can help alleviate that.”

Familiarise Yourself with the Tournament & Activity Schedule to Focus on Your Events

PCA Logo

It is easy to become overwhelmed by everything that is going on when you attend a major poker festival. There are often dozens of tournaments, cash games running around the clock, parties to attend, and several off-the-felt activities to enjoy.

Walsh suggests you take some time upon arrival at the festival series to plan your schedule. List which tournaments you want to play, and which excursions or activities you don’t want to miss, and create a schedule; don’t forget to leave some time for much-needed sleep!

“You want to ensure you are in the best possible condition to play your best poker. Live poker events can be exhausting. Not only are the days at the table long, but with so many other activities packed into the event weeks you need to prioritise the poker and events you would like to attend and organise your time accordingly…playing poker when you are tired is not fun!”

Clearly Indicate Play

EPT Prague 2022 Dealers group photo

Poker players from an online background may not be well-versed in the nuances of live poker, especially when it comes to their actions at the table. Some things you say are verbally binding, meaning you must follow through with what you said, especially if you announce that you are all-in. Also, be aware that putting a single chip into the pot when facing a bet or raise will be taken as a call regardless of that chip’s value. This is something that is impossible to do in the online poker world.

“If you are unsure how to bet, raise or call appropriately, clearly tell the dealer what you would like to do before putting chips in the pot. This may sound obvious because your actions at the poker table can be binding,” explained Walsh.

The PokerStars dealers are vastly experienced and considered the best in the business. They would rather you ask them for clarification rather than call over the tournament director to settle a dispute after you have made a mistake.

Find out more about poker terminology

Follow the Action

“Pay attention to what is happening at the table, take action when it is on you to act, and observe the other players in your game,” Walsh suggested.

That sentence certainly runs true if you primarily play online poker where the PokerStars software takes care of posting blinds and antes, and warns you if you have taken too long to act. Live poker plays at a much slower pace than its online counterpart, sometimes more than twice as slow. Don’t slow the game even further by dawdling, which will irk your opponents and the dealer.

888 Records Disappointing Q4 Results, CFO to Step

888 Records Disappointing Q4 Results, CFO to Step

Leading global gambling company 888 Holdings saw a surprising decline in revenue in the fourth quarter despite a World Cup boost

888 explained the slight dip in revenue with the new online gambling regulations in the UK, regarding the quarter with optimism despite the disappointing metrics. The company’s retail segment performed well, recording a modest bump in revenue. However, it was not enough to outweigh a dip in online earnings. 888’s financial situation remains stable, but the recent financial results may herald looming trouble.

888 Holdings PLC is the parent company of a variety of gambling brands. The recent acquisition of William Hill significantly boosted its global reach, cementing its status as one of the leading names in the gambling world. However, recent financial reports have not delivered the stunning profits one might associate with such an industry leader.

The most recent dip in revenue continues the trend from the third quarter, which saw 888’s year-on-year revenue drop by 7% to £484 million ($546.5 million). CEO Itai Pazner justified the results with the instability following the William Hill acquisition and the strict UK online player safety measures. Despite his optimism, the worrying trend appears to be stretching into Q4.

The Online Segment Suffered the Most

Fourth quarter revenue to 31 December dropped by 2.6% to GBP458 million ($557.5 million). Yearly declined by 3% to GBP1.85 billion ($2.25 billion) from GBP1.91 billion ($2.33 billion). While online profits remained consistent with the previous quarter, they shrunk by 5% compared to last year, sitting at £326 million ($396.4 million) for Q4.

Retail revenues grew by 5% year on year, reaching £131 million (159.3 million), but the rally was not enough to offset the online segment’s lacking performance. 888 again blamed the stricter UK regulations, noting that other regulated countries recorded strong performances. CEO Pazner lauded the company’s progress towards its strategic roadmap, disregarding any notion of upcoming difficulties.

Revenues during the fourth quarter saw continued strong trading in retail and a robust performance online.

Itai Pazner, 888 Holdings CEO

888 also announced that CFO Yariv Dafna would leave the company after the end of the 2022 fiscal year on 31 March. Although the company did not state a reason for his departure and thanked him for his contributions, the announcement’s timing implies that the disappointing financial performance may have been a factor in this decision.

Adjusted EBITDA for 2022 should still meet 888’s guidance range of GBP305 million ($371.2 million) to GBP315 million ($383.4 million). However, the most recent financial report caused some concern, causing 888 shares to drop by 4.7% to 89.14p. Such hesitation is understandable, given that the World Cup usually results in skyrocketing profits. While 888 is not in immediate trouble, a positive earnings call would greatly help alleviate any rising concerns.

‘Deeply flawed’: pokies self-banning schemes in NSW do not stop problem gambling, counsellors say | Gambling

Gambling addicts and counsellors say self-exclusion schemes for poker machines are deeply flawed and are failing to protect those most in need, as they urge the New South Wales government to enforce a statewide alternative.

The schemes allow people to voluntarily ban themselves from gambling but are commonly capped at 35 venues near where they live, work and socialise.

Now the mandatory schemes – which are run by both ClubsNSW and individual casinos – are facing renewed criticism as advocates, health experts and the state’s crime commission call for more gambling reforms ahead of the state election later this year.

Greg, a problem gambler in Sydney’s inner-west who is desperate to quit poker machines, said the 35-venue cap was ineffective given how many gambling venues exist in his area.

“It’s too easy to just get in your car and drive five kilometres down the road, even 10 kilometres, who cares, and then gamble just the same somewhere else,” said Greg, whose last name has been withheld to protect his privacy.

“How are you supposed to remember every place around you? And 35 places? That’s like two postcodes here, so it just absolutely doesn’t work at all.”

In the Canterbury-Bankstown local government area there are 4,741 poker machines, according to NSW Liquor and Gaming’s latest figures. There are 3,841 machines in Fairfield, 2,838 in Blacktown, and 1,823 in the inner west.

Greg said his life would be better if he could ban himself from every poker machine in the state at once.

“You can’t stop if everywhere you go there are ‘Las Vegas’ lights and ‘$100,000 jackpot’ flashing everywhere. You won’t be able to do it. This is worse than a drug,” he said.

“I feel sorry for the young people who go and put their first $50 through the machines and win a jackpot, because that’s the beginning of the end of their lives.”

ClubsNSW has been running a self-exclusion service, ClubSAFE, for more than a decade. In a statement, a ClubsNSW spokesperson said the 35 venue limit was sufficient for most problem gamblers.

“However, this is a soft limit and in circumstances where an individual requests to be excluded from additional venues, this is easily facilitated,” the spokesperson said.

“In October last year, ClubsNSW and the Australian Hotels Association NSW announced the rollout of facial recognition technology in the gaming areas of clubs and pubs across the state to further combat problem gambling.

“The technology will become a major part of the multi-venue self-exclusion scheme, and once fully implemented, will allow patrons to self-exclude from every club and pub in the state.”

The Wesley Mission and other advocates are calling for a range of reforms before the state election on 25 March, including a cashless gaming card, midnight closing hours and a statewide self-exclusion register.

“The current patchwork system in NSW is ineffective at providing support to the people who need it most,” said Wesley Mission’s general manager Jim Wackett.

“A range of hurdles, from limits on the number of venues from which a person can self-exclude to a cumbersome application process, renders the current system deeply flawed.”

Wackett said while every gambling venue is required to offer self-exclusion, enforcement was lacking because there is no legal obligation to enforce the scheme.

“Our gambling counsellors are often hearing stories from clients who have tried to exclude themselves from venues, but they must approach each venue in turn,” he said.

“The ubiquity of poker machines on almost every street corner across the suburbs and towns of NSW making meaningful exclusion impossible.”

Mega Millions Jackpot to Reach $1.35 billion

Mega Millions Jackpot to Reach $1.35 billion

With no big winner in Tuesday night’s drawing the US Mega Millions jackpot is still in record territory and could award the second-highest prize ever for the draw at $1.35 Billion on Friday the 13th. Nobody bought a ticket for Tuesday’s drawing that matched all six winning numbers including the Mega Ball.

The numbers in Tuesday’s drawing were 7, 13, 14, 15, 18, and Mega Ball 9. That jackpot would have been for $1.1 billion if taken as a 30-year annuity. Each time a drawing is held and there is no jackpot winner, the prize grows relative to the number of ticket sales, so it’s always possible that interest will explode and the prize for a successful ticket could exceed $1.35 billion this weekend.

It’s not necessary to pick all 6 numbers to become a millionaire, however, the second-tier prize can award at least a million dollars and if the optional “Megaplier” bet is purchased it can become a lot more.

No Big Winner, 16 Millionaires Made

In Tuesday night’s drawing, 16 tickets were sold that were eligible for the second-tier prize of $1 million to $3 million.

If a single ticket is sold for Friday’s drawing with all 6 numbers matching, its cash value would be about $708 million – most winners take the cash option rather than 1/30th of the advertised value per year for 30 years.

Even if no winning jackpot ticket is sold for Friday’s drawing, and the prize is rolled over again, it’s only possible but not likely that the jackpot will reach number one territory on Tuesday. The all-time Mega Millions record jackpot is currently $1.537 billion, so ticket sales would need to nearly double between this week and Tuesday in order to beat that number.

The record $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot record was won in South Carolina in 2018.

Friday the 13th Will Be Somebody’s Lucky Day – But How Lucky?

Remember, the game made 16 millionaires on Tuesday night and it’s bound to provide similar results to a handful of lucky players on Friday. But will a jackpot ticket be sold? There’s no way to know!

The lottery said in a news release early Wednesday, “While many consider Friday the 13th an unlucky day, it has been rewarding for Mega Millions players over the years, with six previous jackpots won on such a day. There’s a chance for another this Friday, and it’s a big one!

According to CNN, Michigan has been the state to produce the most Friday the 13th drawing winners. Four jackpots were won in the state in 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2017, with the most recent one, in 2017, shared with a Rhode Island winner.

Other jackpots won on Friday the 13th were in New York in 2009 and in Ohio in 2015.

The last Mega Millions jackpot was won for $502 million on October 14 – Friday will be almost three months to the day without a jackpot winner.

And while 16 tickets were sold for Tuesday’s drawing worth at least a million dollars, there have actually been 68 millionaires made by Mega Millions in those three months.

More Than One Way to Skin a Cat

Mega Millions tickets are sold at retail kiosks and over the counter in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.

You still have a shot at becoming a Mega Million billionaire, and you don’t have to live in one of the retail states to play. Trusted online concierge services, sometimes known as lottery messenger services can pick up a ticket for you, as one did for an Iraqi man a few years ago. The messenger service flew him to lottery headquarters in Oregon and saw that he was paid.

Other online lottery models exist as well as such as bookie models and insurance models wherein customers simply bet on the odds, not the actual lottery draw itself.

The largest lottery jackpot ever paid in the U.S. was from a single winning Powerball ticket sold in November worth $2.04 billion.

MGA Introduces Player Protection Directive Amendments

MGA Introduces Player Protection Directive Amendments

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), Malta’s gambling regulator, introduced major changes to its Player Protection Directive (Directive 2 of 2018). The authority will now require its licensees to monitor markers of harm in order to lower harm rates.

Malta’s Regulator Amended Its Player Protection Rules

The MGA noted that establishing a safe gambling ecosystem is a crucial part of having a functional and healthy industry. The regulator will, therefore, use the feedback it received through a recent dedicated consultation process and use it to shape a better future for the industry under its jurisdiction.

We believe that safe, sustainable, and responsible gaming is of paramount importance to the gaming sector. Following feedback received through the dedicated consultation process, the Authority is hereby publishing these amendments with the aim of strengthening and clarifying the current player protection framework.

MGA statement

The new framework introduced by the MGA will support its future initiatives and will make it easier for the regulator to add further improvements. This will also make it easier to eventually publish detailed player protection guidelines for licensees.

The MGA Will Require Companies to Monitor Markers of Harm

The current amendments focus on the requirements the MGA’s licensees are expected to follow. These concern gambling operators’ responsible gaming policies and procedures.

One of the most notable changes is that the authority will now require companies to monitor “markers of harm.” This means that licensees must carefully examine their customers’ activity and identify suspicious behaviors, such as increased deposit frequency, etc. According to the MGA, such markers must be considered by licensed companies when addressing problem gambling.

The amendments to the Player Protection Directive, the MGA said, have also addressed provisions relating to real-money reinforcement and staff training.

The MGA concluded that the amendments are based on its own research, as well as on a review of the Directive carried out by an expert in the field. The changes, the MGA said, came into power on January 12, 2023.

The regulator concluded that it is currently conducting detailed research and seeking expert experience. These will serve as the foundation of its upcoming guidelines.

In other MGA-related news, the regulator continues handing out licenses to various B2B and B2C companies. A week ago, the authority allowed BetConstruct to provide crypto solutions. In 2022, the MGA also licensed BeyondPlay, allowing it to provide locally-licensed operators with its products, including its new jackpot engine. In early December, END 2 END also secured an MGA license, bolstering its footprint in Europe.

DoubleDown Interactive purchases SuprNation for $30 million cash

DoubleDown Interactive purchases SuprNation for $30 million cash

A leading digital games developer and publisher, DoubleDown Interactive, announced that it has entered a Share Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of SuprNation, a Swedish iGaming provider of exclusive gaming experiences. The deal involves cash considerations for approximately $35 million and is subject to the final 2022 financial review.

Acquisition announced:

DoubleDown Interactive has many years of experience in online gaming. It is the creator of interactive entertainment experiences for players around the world, providing them with Vegas entertainment through an online social casino experience. With the soon acquisition of the Swedish technology company, the developer expects to attract new users and improve existing services, as well as to develop new ones by balancing the versatile library of casino games.

“We are pleased to announce the first acquisition since DoubleDown’s IPO that we believe complements our existing social casino franchise well and exposes DoubleDown to new growth markets,” said In Keuk Kim, Chief Executive Officer of Double Down Interactive, and added:

“The acquisition of SuprNation increases our presence in the European i-Gaming market with other geographies expected to be added over time. Their gaming titles and captivating gamification features have created a loyal customer base that we aim to grow while capturing synergy opportunities, including incorporating our deep online gaming experience. As we evaluate inorganic growth opportunities, we will continue to focus on gaming businesses that offer clear synergies with our existing strengths.”

Growing real money gaming foothold:

Joakim Stockman and Henric Andersson, Co-Chief Executive Officers of SuprNation said: “We are extremely excited to become a part of DoubleDown and are looking forward to leveraging the obvious strengths of both companies in the years to come. As part of DoubleDown, we expect to accelerate our expansion and grow our real money gaming foothold through continued development of unique products and efficient marketing strategies.”

Title transfer:

This all-cash share purchase agreement is expected to be closed within the second quarter of 2023, following regulatory approvals. Once the deal is closed, SuprNation will be a direct, wholly-owned vertical of DoubleDown Interactive LLC. The technology company with a strong European presence and with gaming licenses in jurisdictions including Sweden, Great Britain, and Malta will enable the renowned gaming company to access SuprNation’s broad customer base and improve common operations for the benefit of both entities.

January through September 2022, this customer base engaged in SupNation’s mobile casino experiences to generate approximately $18.3 million in revenue – the figure attractive enough to see the acquisition completed as agreed.

NFL Wild Card Betting Odds Affected by Quarterback Injuries

Lamar Jackson on the sideline during a game

NFL Wild Card disappointment?

The NFL Super Wild Card round is set to get underway this weekend, but Sunday’s highly anticipated matchups might be duds.

The three Sunday games include the Miami Dolphins at the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings, and Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins-Bills and Ravens-Bengals games have spreads of 13 points and 8.5 points, respectively, but how could that be for games of such magnitude between some of the best teams in the league?

Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson are both expected to be unavailable

The answer is that starting quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson are both expected to be unavailable this weekend. If that is the case, the Dolphins and Ravens are almost guaranteed to be sent home, while the Bills and Bengals cruise into the next round.

Injuries alter betting odds

The NFL postseason is one of the best sports betting opportunities on the calendar. In addition, the games are usually the most entertaining of the year, due to the heightened stakes and competitiveness between teams.

Bills have ballooned from 10 to 13-point favorites in just a few days

Without Tagovailoa in the starting lineup, however, the Dolphins will almost assuredly be unable to cope with the Bills. The movement in betting odds (per DraftKings sportsbook) reflects that sentiment, as the Bills have ballooned from 10 to 13-point favorites in just a few days and could grow even further if and when Tagovailoa is officially ruled out.

The Dolphins went 1-4 in games without their regular starting QB this season. They split the season series against the Bills, but also just lost to them 32-29 in Week 15, and that was with Tagovailoa taking snaps.

Sunday’s late game between the Ravens and Bengals presents a similar scenario. Baltimore opened as 6.5-point dogs and is now facing an 8.5-point hole as Jackson is still yet to return to practice with a knee injury. Originally estimated to be out for a maximum of three weeks, it has been nearly six weeks since he has seen a football field, and it seems improbable he would suddenly suit up to play one of the league’s best teams.

Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley is also dinged and might not play either, which would leave rookie Anthony Brown to make his second career and first playoff start. Baltimore is scoring just 13 points per game without Jackson and also just lost to the Bengals 27-16 in the final game of the season.

Other first round matchups

Elsewhere in the AFC, the Los Angeles Chargers are 2.5-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The line opened with the Chargers as one-point favorites and has been bet up despite them being on the road and facing a Jags team that has won five-straight games.

QBs Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence will battle it out as they try to earn spots in the next round, where they could face the Super Bowl-favorite Kansas City Chiefs on the road, depending on the results of the other games (the remaining AFC playoff team with the lowest seed will face the top-seeded Chiefs in the second round).

most lopsided matchup is the San Francisco 49ers versus the Seattle Seahawks

The NFC does not have as large of spreads in its Wild Card scenarios. The most lopsided matchup is the San Francisco 49ers versus the Seattle Seahawks, in which the Niners are favored by 9.5 points. Rookie third stringer QB Brock Purdy and newly announced Pro Bowler Geno Smith will both be making their playoff debuts.

The New York Giants also travel to Minnesota to play the Vikings as three-point underdogs mid-afternoon Sunday. The two teams met in Week 16 when the Vikings won by, guess what, three points. Daniel Jones and Kirk Cousins have their limitations, and neither team is expected to make a deep run, but the matchup should be entertaining.

The final game of the Super Wild Card round features the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys had a much better regular season, finishing 12-5 to Tampa’s 8-9, but are 0-2 against the Bucs in the Tom Brady era. Both teams are flawed, which makes the impending battle all the more interesting.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Premier League Odds, Time, and Prediction

Tottenham vs Arsenal Premier League Odds, Time, and Prediction

North London Derbies are always entertaining, but this one’s gonna be special. It’s because both teams are fantastic in the 2022-23 season – Arsenal are sitting top of the Premier League table; Tottenham are in fifth place right now.

When, Where, and How to Watch?

  • Place: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England
  • Date: Sunday, January 15, 2023
  • Time: 11:30 AM ET
  • How to Watch: Peacock

The Spurs Always Show Up in the North London Derby

Tottenham Hotspur are 10-3-5 in the Premier League this season, which accounts for 33 points. That’s eleven points fewer than Arsenal, who have one game in hand as well. The chances are slim that the Spurs can challenge the title, but they definitely have every right to hope for a top 4 finish.

For that to happen, however, they need to get in a winning mode. Antonio Conte’s men are 1-1-1 in the Prem since the end of the World Cup, in which a number of their players took part. This explains why they didn’t do great in the first two games after the break – they drew 2-2 with Brentford on Boxing Day and lost to Aston Villa 2-0 on New Year’s Day.

However, they got back onto the winning track on January 4, when they defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 in South London. This weekend, they’re coming back to the north of the city, which is where they’re 6-0-3 in the 2022-23 Premier League.

That might not seem too impressive, but the Spurs always seem to do well when playing against Arsenal at home. In fact, they won five of the previous six North London Derbies that took place on their turf. In those five wins, they scored a total of 10 goals, half of which were the work of their skipper Harry Kane.

After a slow start to the season, the Spurs No. 9 is playing fantastic soccer at the moment, scoring 15 Premier League goals in 18 matches. If Tottenham are going to beat Arsenal again, Kane will have to put on his best performance on Sunday.

The Gunners Need a Win

With 44 points (14-2-1), Arsenal is sitting in the No. 1 place in the Premier League. The trouble is that the reigning champions – Manchester City – are dangerously close behind. The Citizens are five points behind, but the season is long, and they seem more than capable of bridging that gap.

In fact, even oddsmakers believe Manchester City will overtake the top spot before the end of the season. One of the reasons is that the Gunners haven’t proved they can do great in big games.

This season, the only loss they suffered happened against Manchester United on the road. One of the draws they played happened in an away game against Southampton; the other one happened at home against Newcastle, the team currently occupying the No. 3 position in the Prem.

To be fair to Mikel Arteta’s boys, they did slay a couple of giants this season, including Liverpool and Tottenham. However, both of those wins happened at their stadium.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Prediction

We’re taking Tottenham in this game. The Spurs have a strong roster and a manager who just loves big games. Conte and his boys also seem to love playing against Arsenal, especially if the game’s taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Picks: Tottenham Hotspur to win; under 2.5 goals
