Buckle Up for the Merit Poker Western Series

Buckle Up for the Merit Poker Western Series

Unique selling point

There’s an old cowboy phrase…

“Don’t squat with your spurs on.”

Essentially it means don’t do something without thinking or it’s better to plan ahead. I believe that this especially true these days when it comes to poker. In my last article, I highlighted “The Festival” and the ways that they are putting effort into creating something different for their upcoming poker stop in Nottingham. In partnership with Unibet Poker, Martin “Franke” von Zweibergk is bringing poker and casino games together in a palatable way by sportifying the latter.

brand spanking new state of the art poker room

Another poker brand with a strong understanding of the value of a unique selling point is Merit Poker. Strong festive themes have been a feature of Merit events in the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel in Kyrenia, Cyprus for many years but now, with a brand spanking new state of the art poker room, the operator is planning to become one of Europe’s premier poker destinations.

Last November, “The Vintage Series“ was a huge success with three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Georgios Sotiropoulos outlasting 766 other players to claim victory in the $3,300 Main Event and walk away with $384,150, the lion’s share of the $2,122,440 prize pool. Now it is the turn of the “Western Series,“ a cowboy themed poker extravaganza, the highlights of which will be the $500,000 guaranteed $2,200 Warm-Up, the $1,500,000 guaranteed $3,300 buy-in Main Event, and the $5,300 High Roller. There will be livestream coverage hosted by the all-VegasSlotsOnline News team of Dara O’Kearney and yours truly, so buckle up for an exciting twelve days of live poker action.

The Mediterranean Poker Party

When the new poker room opened in September, there was high hopes that the first big international event would make a splash and the host venue couldn’t have been happier with the fledgling Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP) and established Triton Poker Festival, offering a schedule of tournaments from mid-stakes all the way up to the nosebleeds.

The $1,100 MPP Open went first, boasting a $920,000 prize-pool and crowning Belarusian Vadzim Godzdanker as the champion after he defeated Alessio Isaia heads-up to take home $150,000. Then it was the turn of the MPP EAPT, another $1,100 buy-in which attracted 675 players, with Eduard Barsegian the last one standing. He bested Aleksandr Pak to win a cool $100,000.

As the festival progressed, the price of poker steepened with the $2,200 buy-in MPP Warm-Up reaching a total prize pool of $1,924,640. When the dust settled, Russian Arsenii Karmatskii was victorious, having beaten Serbian Milos Skrbic to claim $310,000 and the trophy. The big one, however, was the MPP Main Event, a $5,300 buy-in with a $5,000,000 guarantee. This one would be a sweat for the organizers, but in the end, a big day 1C field got them to 1,032 entrants. After five long days of play, German player Hannes Jeschke emerged triumphant, cutting himself a check for $543,142.

Triton Poker delivered glitz and glamour

Triton Poker is a brand synonymous with quality. Big buy-ins, big prize pools, the most famous players, and a cutting-edge livestream coverage promises glitz, glamour, high quality play, and more than a few heart-in-mouth moments. It says a lot, then, that Triton decided to come to Cyprus in September, confident that their players would get the first-class experience to which they have become accustomed.

The $25,000 Super Highroller attracted a whopping 131 entrants, generating a prize pool of $3,275,000. In the end, it was a feather in the cap of the old school as poker legend Patrik Antonius pulled off a famous victory, booking an $825,000 win.

Double the price tag did not mean half the attendance, as the $50,000 6-max Super High Roller got 117 runners to create a $5,850,000 prize pool. Pieter Aerts beat Sam Grafton in that one for a career-best $1,472,000 score, but the English PokerStars ambassador was not finished for the trip.

The next day, Grafton took his seat in the $200,000 Triton Coin Rivet Invitational – a unique format that pitted businesspeople against invited poker professionals, segregating the two groups initially before combining the field to play to a winner. In the end, Grafton turned over a final table featuring Fedor Holz, Tom Vogelsang, Seth Davies, Ebony Kenney and runner-up Linus Loeliger to book a mind-blowing $5.5m score.

Hungry to get a piece of the poker pie

Online poker thrived during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 and while nobody would have wished for it to happen under those conditions, this great game of ours was given an opportunity to find a new audience. Now, with those enthusiastic newcomers augmenting the existing player base, live poker has never been healthier with record fields and record prize pools being set on an almost daily basis somewhere in the world.

it is those who cater to the players, treat them well, and spoil them a little who will emerge victorious

With operators hungry to get a piece of that pie, I believe that it is those who cater to the players, treat them well, and spoil them a little who will emerge victorious, earning the loyalty of traveling pros and vacationing recreational players. As someone who has played 100 live tournaments per year for over a decade, I know well what it was like to be herded like cattle to a grim poker venue and then flung into turbo structured main events with egregious rake.

Far too much of live poker devolved to that in the period between 2015 and 2019 and it is my prediction that organizers like Merit Poker will reap the benefit of a renewed focus on player experience.

To quote another cowboy saying…

“If you’re ridin’ ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it’s still there with ya.”

The Merit Poker Western Series Warm-Up event runs from January 16-20. The Main Event is from January 20-25. The High Roller is from January 25-27. Livestream coverage is free to watch on the Merit Poker YouTube Channel or the Merit Poker website.

bet365 Named Official Betting Partner of Eubank Jr vs Smith

Online sports betting and gaming group bet365 announced it has been named the Official Betting Partner of the upcoming boxing match between Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith.

‘Huge Night of British Boxing’

Anticipating a landmark year for British boxing, bet365, through its partnership with the event and promotional company BOXXER, has moved to boost its brand awareness among fans of boxing by becoming the official betting partner of the match on January 21, 2023.

“Live on Sky Sports and brought to you by our partners at BOXXER, we’re thrilled to be part of this huge night of British boxing,” a spokesperson for bet365 commented on the announcement, drawing attention to the upcoming “explosive night” of boxing.

Prior to the match at the Manchester Arena, the two middleweight British boxers separated by only one year in age boast 32 wins each but Eubank Jr has tasted defeat only on two occasions as compared to Smith’s three losses and many predict a close fight with the odds slightly titled in Eubank Jr’s favor.

“It’s going to be an explosive night on January 21st, and bet365 has you covered with a huge selection of pre-fight markets, the bet365 spokesperson continued, propping the operator’s “industry-leading In-Play product” to “take center stage once the bell rings, offering live odds and bet boosts throughout” the match.

Eubank Jr has been involved in fewer demanding fights than his opponent and many believe his speed and power will be too much for Smith to overcome, who, on his turn has still to prove that he is capable of winning a so-called ‘marquee’ fight, giving him an extra source of motivation.

In-Arena Branding

The partnership will allow bet365 branding to appear prominently across all pre-promotional activities such as press conferences, open workouts and weigh-ins, as well as at the arena during the fight night, featuring 360-degree branding across the ring corners, ropes and toblerones, and on the venue’s screens, banners and boards. bet365’s logo will also feature on the ring canvas and arena barriers.

Under the agreement, bet365 will continue to be the official odds partner of BOXXER for the event and will also feature via integration with BOXXER’s social and digital channels, while bet365 odds will be displayed at the platform in the build-up to the match and the platform will be exclusive for in-play optimizations.

Fans of boxing at bet365 in select international markets already enjoy live streams of BOXXER’s shows as the partnership between the promotional platform and the Stoke-on-Trent-based brand aims to enhance customer experience globally.

Former jockey Danny Brock faces long ban from racing for betting conspiracy | British Horseracing Authority

Danny Brock, a jockey on the Flat from 2009 to 2021, will face a significant ban after the British Horseracing Authority’s independent disciplinary panel decided on Tuesday he had deliberately stopped three horses as part of a conspiracy to profit from betting on their races.

The BHA’s case against Brock and five other individuals, including Sean McBride, the son and assistant of the Newmarket trainer Philip “Charlie” McBride, concerned three races at all-weather tracks between December 2018 and March 2019.

In two of the races, Brock was beaten aboard Mochalov after a series of four-figure bets were placed against the horse on Betfair while in the other, a two-horse race at Southwell on 7 March 2019, Brock was beaten on Samovar after heavy support for his opponent, Tricky Dicky.

Brock was slow to remove a hood from Samovar as the stalls opened and the horse then veered sharply left for several strides by which point, the panel decided, “he was a dozen lengths or more adrift and the race was lost”. The panel added: “Mr Brock made no serious effort thereafter until giving Samovar a slight push a furlong from home.”

The panel found Eugene Maloney, an acquaintance of McBride, had deposited £6,000 with Betfair on the morning of Samovar’s race, his largest deposit, and staked it all on Tricky Dicky. Andrew Perring, an acquaintance of Brock and Maloney, staked £2,248 on the same horse, while Luke Howells, who was also found to be in breach of the anti-corruption rules, placed a bet of £2,200 and McBride deposited £7,200 – at “a time when his average back bet was £209” – and staked almost all it against Samovar.

Unusually, the panel hearing the case also considered a number of other races in which Brock was riding, as corroborative evidence regarding betting patterns of the individuals alleged to be profiting from his activities.

These included a race at Chelmsford City on 19 September 2019 when Brock was aboard the filly Resurrected, after she had been backed from long odds to start at 10-1. Brock was subsequently found to have used a “modified” whip with an elastic band wrapped around its tip and banned for seven days by the BHA after Resurrected was found to have been wealed as a result.

The panel said Brock was “fortunate that none of the detail about the race that has been canvassed in this inquiry was before the panel in that earlier race”.

The panel found that the BHA’s case against a sixth individual, Luke Olley, was not proved, but he remains excluded from racing “without limit of time” having refused to cooperate with the inquiry. The penalty for Brock, McBride and the remaining individuals found in breach will be decided at a hearing on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, Flightline, who completed an unbeaten career with a record-breaking eight-and-a-quarter length success in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland in November, was officially installed as the equal of Frankel as the joint-best performer of recent decades at the annual World’s Best Racehorse ceremony in London on Tuesday.

The international handicappers gave Flightline a final rating of 140, 4lb higher than Sea The Stars, who went unbeaten through six Group One events including the Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2009, and 6lb above two more recent US dirt performers, American Pharoah and Arrogate.

Aidan O’Brien’s Little Big Bear was the champion juvenile colt of 2022, despite suffering an early conclusion to his two-year-old campaign because of injury. He is O’Brien’s 12th juvenile champion colt and the first to be sired by No Nay Never, the 2013 Prix Morny winner.

Little Big Bear won his last four starts, including the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group One Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh, and led the juvenile ratings on a mark of 124. He was 5lb clear of Blackbeard, who suffered a career-ending injury in October, and Andrew Balding’s Chaldean, the Dewhurst Stakes winner.

It’s Not Like That – Gambling With An Edge

Putting Bills Into a Machine

In addition to being posted on www.bobdancer.com, these weekly blogs are also posted on www.gamblingwithanedge.com, where there is a forum for reader discussion. Recently, a man who posts as “Boris from Switzerland” wrote (slightly edited): Change of subject: Why has Boyd stopped offering multipliers to everybody, and why did they clean out their casino floors by removing their 99.50% and higher games? This is something I don’t like at all.

While I’m not a big fan of Boyd and the gambling decisions they have made, Boris has misstated what they are actually doing.

First, at Boyd you must “qualify” to earn any slot club points — multiplied or not. And the basis for qualification is based somewhat in mystery. When you first get your card, you are “Ruby” level. To receive slot club points, you need to move up to their second tier, which is called “Sapphire.”

The definition of Sapphire, 750 tier credits – 14,999 tier credits per qualification period, seems straightforward enough. The “mystery” part of it is how much you must play in order to earn a TC. Loose video poker, of which there is precious little, earns TCs very slowly relative to coin-in. Tighter video poker and slots earn TCs much faster for the same coin-in.

Your TCs are not displayed on the reader while you are playing. Only your “session points” are, and only then if you are at least Sapphire. If you haven’t obtained the Sapphire level, the display shows that you are earning zero points for your play. Which you are, if you’re talking about slot club points (which are different than TCs). If you go to the kiosk, however, it will tell you how many TCs you’ve earned so far and how many you need to obtain the next tier level.

Once you’ve obtained Sapphire level, your session points are displayed on the card reader, and if you pull and re-insert your card, it will tell you how many TCs you have earned today. It’s cumbersome, but the information is available.

At Boyd properties, they have a Young at Heart (YAH) program which is for players 50 years and older who are Sapphire level or higher. At Las Vegas Boyd properties, Tuesdays are YAH days, and YAH members receive 10x slot club points and some Bingo free packs.

Some Boyd casinos offer additional 10x point days. Occasionally these multipliers are offered to everybody, of whatever age, whether they have reached Sapphire level or not. Each casino has a monthly calendar of events near the slot club booth which tells when such multiplier days are being played and who is eligible. Or you can ask at the booth and they’ll tell you.

Now for Boris, who lives in Switzerland and visits Vegas a few times a year for a week-or-so at a time, this is a distinction without a difference. He’s probably not going to be earning enough to be Sapphire level each year (especially without receiving multipliers and mailers along the way), so for him there are no multipliers ever. The fact that this upsets him is not surprising.

Insofar as loose video poker goes at Boyd properties, in addition to progressives which are positive some of the time, most of these casinos have a bank or two of machines marked “up to 99.8% return.” These can include such games as 9/5 Triple Bonus Plus, NSU Deuces Wild, and 9/6 Jacks or Better, along with several others. These are all single line games for 25¢, 50¢, $1, and maybe at a few of the casinos, $2.

Since Boris limits his gambling to loose video poker, these are the machines that will be most attractive to him. They will earn TCs at a very low rate, but they will earn them. Whether it’s possible to earn Sapphire by playing two solid days of $1 NSU on these machines, simply because I don’t know the conversion rate between slot club points on these machines and TCs.

Should Boris ever earn Sapphire, he’ll now receive 10x multipliers one day a week should he be at least 50 years old. For video poker, a 10x multiplier converts to a half-percent. He’ll retain his status until the next calendar year, but he’ll have to keep playing at that level to retain that status.

So, back to Boris’ original question which was, “Why does Boyd do this?” Not being a mind reader and having no inside information at all, I conclude that Boyd has made a conscious decision to market to locals and not out-of-towners. And locals who are at least 50-years-old get the best benefits. Presumably Boyd has calculated that specializing in just these players is the best decision for their bottom line.

Boris, however, isn’t in the preferred demographic. He’s old enough, I believe, but is only an occasional visitor to Las Vegas. So, it’s probably a smart decision on his part to avoid Boyd casinos. There are numerous other casinos in Las Vegas which will welcome his action without penalizing him for not living close by.

Red-Hot Saliba, Winter & Sebesta Among Early PokerGO Cup Winners

Red-Hot Saliba, Winter & Sebesta Among Early PokerGO Cup Winners

The 2023 PokerGO Cup got underway last week in Las Vegas and has awarded four trophies so far. So far, trophies have gone to PokerGO Studio familiars, including 2022 US Poker Open champ Sean Winter (Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – $216,000) and PokerCoaching.com’s Justin Saliba (Event #4: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – $195,000).

Other PokerGO Cup winners so far include Aram Zobian (Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – $207,500) and Ed Sebesta (Event #3: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – $216,000), neither of whom are strangers to the Vegas high-roller scene.

Read how Jeremy Ausmus won the 2022 PokerGO Cup!

Saliba on Fire

Saliba has started the year on a bit of a heater as just a week ago he finished fifth in the Borgata $5,300 The Return in Atlantic City for $304,629.

Justin Saliba
Justin Saliba

His victory in the most recent PokerGO Cup event was as unlikely as they come as he entered the six-handed final table as a short stack and early on ran queen-jack into the pocket queens of Erik Seidel. Seidel was a 97% favorite to win the hand on the flop of {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, but the unlikely runout of {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} gave Saliba a Broadway straight to double up and leave Seidel with crumbs.

“How did that, what?! What?!” reacted PokerGO commentator Brent Hanks. “You could serve a jail sentence for a bad beat like that.”

Seidel wound up in sixth for $46,800, though the Poker Hall of Famer and music enthusiast is still alive in at the table of Event #5: $15,000 No-Limit Hold’em.

Saliba’s run-good continued all the way up to heads-up play with Anthony Hu, who was in fine shape to double up for the chip lead when he got it in with ace-seven against the ace-four of Saliba. The flop {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} gave Saliba a chance to scoop with a Wheel draw, and the runout of {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} gave him another unlikely straight to win his first PokerGO title.

Other Early PokerGO Cup Highlights

The 2023 PokerGO Cup kicked off with Winter, who is no stranger to success in the PokerGO Studio, winning Event #1 for $216,000 after defeating heads-up opponent Alex Foxen. Another Foxen has found results at the PokerGO Cup as Kristen Foxen finished third in Event #2 for $99,600 and sixth in Event #3 for $54,000.

In Event #2, Zobian defeated Thailand’s Punnat Punsri during heads-up play to earn $207,500, while other players who made deep runs include poker vlogger Ethan “Rampage” Yau (7th – $41,500) and Andrew Moreno (5th – $66,40), who managed to final table his first-ever PokerGO Studio event.

In the third $10K of the series, poker commentator Nick Schulman fell to heads-up opponent Sebesta as the retiree in his 70s earned $216,000, which wound up going to a good cause.

According to PokerGO updates, Sebesta pledged to donate his winnings to the Holy Cross in honor of his son, a Catholic priest, who passed away from a brain tumor in 2012.

Mateos at Front of Leaderboard

So far, Adrian Mateos leads the PokerGO Cup standings despite not having won an event so far. The Spanish pro finished fifth in Event #1 for $72,000, fifth in Event #3 for $72,000, third in Event #4 for $93,600.

The PokerGO Cup continues today with the final table of Event #5 while Event #6: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em will also get underway. The PokerGO Cup leaderboard and a list of winners so far are available in the tables below.

Betsson Extends Liga 1 Naming Rights Deal

Betsson Extends Liga 1 Naming Rights Deal

Global online gaming and sports betting operator Betsson will continue to support sports in Peru while promoting safer gambling. To that end, the gambling company has extended its naming rights agreement with the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) by four more years.

Betsson Extends Liga 1 Naming Rights by Four Years

Under the agreement, Betsson will retain naming rights for the top-tier division of professional soccer in Peru. This will allow the operator to continue promoting pro sporting events while promoting responsible sports betting at the same time.

As a result of the deal, Peru’s Liga 1 will be known as Liga 1 Betsson throughout the 2023 season. The operator, meanwhile, will retain the right to feature Liga 1 imagery across its media channels. This would mark yet another year Betsson has supported Peruvian soccer, as the operator and FPF first joined forces several years ago.

The agreement extension comes right ahead of the Apertura Tournament and will see Betsson and the FPF work on making it the best edition yet. As the fan-favorite event approaches, the operator will double down on its efforts to promote responsible gaming under the #JuegoResponsable hashtag.

Betsson Is Committed to Supporting Pro Soccer

Héctor Lara, FPF’s director of competitions, commented on the agreement. Lara said that it is exciting that a brand such as Betsson expresses interest in the Peruvian league. Such sponsorships, Lara noted, allow FPF to continue “optimizing the economic value” of the Liga 1 and expanding its reach. It also allows the federation to invest in developing the soccer structure and nurturing young talents.

As the FPF, we are committed to elevating Peruvian soccer to its rightful place, and we are dedicated to this goal. We are constantly working to achieve this.

Héctor Lara, director of competitions, FPF

Ronni Hartvig, Betsson’s chief commercial officer, also spoke on the matter. He said that the partnership extension fills his team with lots of pride and added that he is excited to “continue the journey Betsson and the FPF started in 2020. Hartvig noted that this attests to the operator’s intentions to support national professional soccer.

Additionally, by being the proud naming sponsor of the Liga1, we are able to emphasize our passion for sports and our commitment to football fan engagement – values that Betsson shares with the FPF.

Ronni Hartvig, CCO, Betsson

Hartvig concluded that Betsson’s team is excitedly waiting for the next soccer season to start. He promised that his company has a lot in store for fans of soccer and sports betting.

Last month, Betsson teamed up with Religa, adding its Triple Way Roulette to its portfolio.

Marco Trucco, head of Europe for GGPoker outlined his excitement “to work with King’s slots” and extend GGPoker’s global reach to Czech players, promising them a lot in 2023 and beyond.

“We will have a lot to offer the market in 2023 and beyond, including WSOP satellites, massive tournaments, the most exciting cash games, exclusive promotions and more,” Trucco said.

Online poker players in the Czech Republic will become part of GGPoker’s global player pool, gain access to GGPoker’s software and offering and be able to compete in the largest poker tournaments in the market, as well as a variety of games running around the clock.

Partner’s 20-Year Anniversary

The majority shareholder of King’s Entertainment Group, Leon Tsoukernik, spoke on behalf of the group to express equal excitement about the “continued development” of its partnership with GGPoker on the global stage.

“As the leading casino and poker venue in Europe [and] home of WSOP Europe, it was only natural for both our companies to come together to introduce GGPoker to our local audience in the Czech Republic,” Tsoukernik added, stressing the timing of the launch which coincides with the 20-year anniversary of King’s Casino on the Czech market.

A subsidiary of Vestar Group, King’s Entertainment operates three land-based casinos in the Czech Republic – King’s Casino Rozvadov, Admiral Casino in Rozvadov and King’s Casino at the Hilton Hotel in Prague. GGPoker’s partner, King’s slots, is a subsidiary of King’s Entertainment Group.

Upon launch, GGPoker will offer its new players in the Czech Republic the poker room’s Welcome Bonus, its Honeymoon for Newcomers promotion to allow them to earn even more rewards, as well as its Fish Buffet loyalty program featuring regular cash prizes.

The Czech Republic is set to become the latest jurisdiction where the world’s largest poker room will be available, following in the footsteps of another European jurisdiction, Germany, after the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt issued a license to GGPoker in December to allow it to operate online poker in the next five years.

“It’s An Overplay”: $193,000 Pot on HCL That Ends With a Sick Needle!

"It's An Overplay": $193,000 Pot on HCL That Ends With a Sick Needle!

Garrett Adelstein is no stranger to live-streamed high-stakes cash games and is well known to always buy in as deep as possible!

That will often create huge pots in high-stakes cash games and this hand from Hustler Casino Live in April 2022 is no different as it produces a $193,000 pot!

Both players in this hand flop a set and the question is, when is the money going to go in?

At the end of the hand, Wesley Fei comes in with the ultimate needle as he tells Garrett that he “overplayed” his hand. Was it an overplay or was Garrett correct in trying to get max value from his set?

Read more about the set-over-set confrontation!

The hand began with blinds at $25/$50/$100 and Adelstein raising to $300 from under the gun with {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Boris called in the cutoff with {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs} before Eli three-bet to $1,300 on the button with {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Fei then called in the small blind holding {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} before Adelstein and Boris both called.

Adelstein’s raise with the small pocket pair is standard while Boris should be folding the ace-deuce. I think Eli needs to three-bet larger otherwise all of his opponents are going to call. Fei should not be cold-calling in the small blind because Adelstein is going to re-raise some portion of the time.

Incredibly, the flop landed {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{j-Clubs} to give Eli top pair and took give Adelstein and Fei bottom and middle set. Boris bet $1,000 and Eli raised to $3,500. Fei called.

Fei got tricky in the small blind by just calling because you typically want to raise with your big hands when you’re out of position. But his hand is unlikely to be outdrawn so I don’t mind the slowplay here.

Adelstein then raised to $14,000, which I think is the right move to build a pot. Eli folded his top pair, which I actually think is the wrong move since Adelstein is so aggressive, and Fei called after a two-minute tank.

Jonathan Little HCL
Jonathan Little discusses a hand played on HCL between Garrett Adelstein and Wesley Fei.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and Fei checked. Adelstein checked back, and I am flabbergasted that he checked back. He may have thought that Fei had hands he would fold on the turn but pay off a river bet if the turn checked through.

The river brought the {10-Spades} and Fei again checked. What do you think Adelstein should do here on the river?

  • Check
  • Bet $12,500
  • Bet $18,500
  • Bet All-in ($77,700)

Adelstein decided to move all in for a massive overbet, putting Fei to a tough decision for $77,700 with only $37,900 in the pot. I think this is a pretty good bet given Adelstein’s general tendencies of liking to use gigantic bet sizes.

After another long tank, Fesley found the call. This is obviously the right move, don’t go around folding sets even if it’s for massive stakes!

Fei wasn’t happy enough winning the massive cooler, he had to hit his opponent with a needle after the hand: “It’s an overplay!”
