IGT Sues UK Gambling Commission Over National Lottery License

IGT Sues UK Gambling Commission Over National Lottery License

IGT is the Italian-based partner of Camelot, the license holder for the UK National Lottery until 2024, which last year lost the bid for the fourth license to Allwyn.

After Camelot IGT Challenges the Regulator’s Decision

The Times reported that the legal battle over the UK Gambling Commission’s decision to award the fourth National Lottery license to Czech company Allwyn continues with full force. IGT submitted a new claim against the regulator just before the Christmas holidays on the grounds of Article 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) stating that it has lost “marketable goodwill” due to the Commission’s decision.

In case the Italian gaming technology provider wins in court it may be entitled to compensation of £600 million ($714 million), which may come from lottery money. This means that good causes that benefit from National Lottery funds may be deprived of that sum.

UK MPs reacted negatively to the news directing harsh criticism toward IGT. Mansfield MP Ben Bradley accused the Italian company of aiming for lottery money that is meant to help good causes in some of Britain’s most vulnerable communities. Hastings and Rye MP deemed preposterous the fact that IGT is basing its claim on charity money on the European legislation for human rights.

The current operator that competed for the fourth National Lottery license, Camelot, was the first to file legal claims against the decision of the UK Gambling Commission to award the new lottery license to another company. Camelot’s lawsuit alleged discrepancies in the assessment procedure performed by the UK Gambling Commission. In response, the regulator said that both the tender and the assessment of the bids have been performed fairly and lawfully.

After a temporary suspension that did not let the Commission sign any agreements with Allwyn, a court stipulated a decision to lift the suspension. Then Camelot appealed and another suspension was put in place. Eventually, Camelot announced it is withdrawing its legal claims.

This news was quickly followed by an announcement that Allwyn is acquiring Camelot for an alleged sum of £100 million ($119 million).  So the legal battle quickly turned into a win-win situation for both companies. Camelot, which had stated that it may go bankrupt because of the loss of the National Lottery license, was saved, while Allwyn is now able to strengthen its presence in the British gambling market.

Playson Inks New Content Integration Deal with Switzerland’s Grand Casino Baden

Playson Inks New Content Integration Deal with Switzerland’s Grand Casino Baden

The leading game developer that offers its state-of-the-art content in 18+ regulated jurisdictions has chosen one of Switzerland’s most successful online casino operators to expand its presence in the region. The new deal will allow Playson to bring its portfolio of 85+ eye-catching omnichannel games and immersive advertising tools closer to more Swiss players.

What Should Swiss Players Expect?

The first-class solution provider whose games are certified for the biggest regulated gaming markets in Europe will integrate its titles with the Swiss operator’s online brand called Jackpots.ch. The online brand was the pioneer online casino in the country of Switzerland and the first site that went live with the help of the Gamanza platform.

The Gamanza platform belongs to the Gamanza Group which was acquired by the Stadtcasino Baden Group in 2021. Some of Playson’s freshest game releases will be integrated into the platform. The list includes games like Diamond Fortunator: Hold and Win, Wolf Power Megaways, and Lion Gems: Hold and Win.

Playson, “Pleased” to Sign the Deal

Playson’s sales director Blanka Homor expressed their pleasure to have signed the new agreement with Grand Casino Baden, calling them “one of the most prominent operators in Switzerland”. Homor explained the significance of the agreement that would allow them to expand in the important European market while providing their popular games to a larger number of customers.

Grand Casino Baden, “Delighted” to Welcome Playson on Board

The land-based casino and Business-to-Consumer operator has managed to establish an important presence in Switzerland’s regulated gaming market since its launch. The casino already has a rich selection of popular casino games on display.

Grand Casino Baden’s chief online gaming Brian Christner expressed their delight to welcome Playson on board while preparing to integrate their beloved games into their offering. To Christner, the news represents a “fantastic” development for the online casino’s database of players.

Christner explained that the operator aims to preserve its position as a leading online casino operator, which is why it is essential to keep offering the same type of “rich gaming experiences” to players. Playson’s “engaging content” has been handpicked to serve this precise goal.

The developer relies on engaging game mechanics and math, a series of value-adding promotional options, consultancy, in-house network advertising, and fast-reply technical support available on a 24-hour basis. Their turnkey solution is the perfect match for the most ambitious and successful iGaming operators in the industry.

In December 2022, Playson announced a content-oriented deal with casino aggregator iGaming Group, helping Playson integrate its games into the group’s offering. A similar deal was announced during the same month with leading gaming and entertainment brand SkillOnNet.

The United Kingdom Poker Championships (UKPC) returns to action after a nearly five-year hiatus, and PokerNews‘ live reporting team are on the ground covering the £560 buy-in £500,000 guaranteed UKPC Main Event from the uttering of those immortal words “shuffle up and deal” until the eventual champion is in possession of every chip in play.

Greentube Boost Presence in LatAm by Inking New Deal with LatamWin

Greentube Boost Presence in LatAm by Inking New Deal with LatamWin

NOVOMATIC Interactive’s division has been given the green light to provide its selection of games to Latamwin’s customers located in Chile. Local players will this way get access to iconic titles including Diamond Link: Mighty Elephant, Lucky Lady’s Charm deluxe, and Book of Ra deluxe, along with a plethora of fresh games like Dragon Blitz, Twin Spinner Book of Ra, and Diamond Link: Oasis Riches. The Mexican market will soon follow suit.

The Deal, a “Testament to the Popularity” of Greentube’s Content in LatAm

With the help of the new agreement, the leading provider of services and technological solutions for online gaming platforms and companies in regulated markets in Latin America will significantly increase its reach in the area. Greentube has already launched its content with a few important operators in LatAm.

Key account and sales manager for Latin America, Julia Schagerl, explained that players in this key region have already proven their “great appetite” for their games.

Schagerl called the Chilean partnership “a testament to the popularity” of their content here. She also referred to LatamWin as a “great partner” in their attempt to expand their presence in other regulated gaming markets while introducing more customers to their “fantastic titles”.

Greentube provides both classic and fully-tailored gaming content featuring social casino games, video poker, video bingo, classic slots, table games, and server-based games.

The company also supplies real money and social operations for the online and mobile sectors while taking great pride in delivering “safe and secure casino entertainment” to global players.

Greentube initiated its journey in the industry with the launch of a 3D sports game called Ski Challenge two and a half decades ago under the name Dürrschmid&Reisinger OEG.

Soon after, they turned into the pioneer of developing and offering top-tier gaming solutions, paving the way for the future once the company was born again under Greentube Internet Entertainment Solutions AG in 2000. Ten years later, Greentube joined the NOVOMATIC Group.

LatamWin Praised Greentube’s “Incredibly Memorable Games”

LatamWin’s chief executive officer Wilfred Adelsdorfer also spoke about the company that goes “above and beyond” to mold the future of the gaming sector which is going through nonstop changes.

He praised the global recognition of its “incredibly memorable games”, explaining that the integration of its portfolio onto its platform was “great” for LatamWin as well as players who will get access to these iconic games.

At the end of December, Greentube announced a number of updates for its Ski Challenge esports mobile gaming product. During the same month, the company was given the green light to launch with Entain brands in Ontario.

LatamWin aims to supply industry customers and players with top-quality, secure, and fully-integrated games complying with global standards. Last August, Endorphina announced it would make its debut with Latamwin in Chile.

Stephen Kehoe Turns WPT Global Satellite Win Into $269,900

Stephen Kehoe Turns WPT Global Satellite Win Into $269,900

Lead image courtesy of WPT Global

The World Poker Tour WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas will always be remembered for being the tournament boasting the largest live poker event guarantee. WPT and Wynn Las Vegas guaranteed a prize pool of $15 million, but 2,960 entrants created a $29,008,000 pot. Ireland’s Stephen Kehoe was one of those entrants, although he did not fork out $10,000 to enter because he won his seat only at WPT Global for only $550.

WPT Global ran $550 buy-in satellites that awarded seats to the WPT World Championship in addition to $2,000 to cover travel expenses. Kehoe saw some advertisements for those satellites and decided to take a shot at the big time. Kehoe’s first attempt did not go to plan but his second satellite resulted in him scooping a package and left him making plans to compete in one of the biggest live tournaments of the Irishman’s career.

Having cashed in the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event, Kehoe was not a complete stranger to high-stakes live events. He entered Day 1C, sat down with his 25,000 starting stack, which he turned into 722,000 by the close of play. Kehoe found himself in the top 20 of the 513 Day 1C survivors.

Day 2 turned out to be a grind for Kehoe, and he ended the night with 711,000 chips in his arsenal. The Irishman fared much better on Day 3, bagging and tagging a 1,470,000 stack after an action-packed day that saw the money bubble burst. Kat Klassen and Tony Dunst busted on the same hand to guarantee the surviving players lock in at least $17,400.

Busting Four-time WSOP Champion Michael Gathy

Michael Gathy
Michael Gathy at the 2022 WSOP

The fourth day was another filled with drama, with Kehoe eliminating Michael Gathy in 118th place. Four-time WSOP bracelet winner Gathy committed his short stack on a jack-six-four-three board that showed two clubs. Kehoe called with queen-jack of clubs, which remained better than Gathy’s dominated jack-ten.

However, what the Poker Gods giveth is often taketh! During the 25th level of play, with blinds 75,000/125,000/125,000a, Kehoe opened to 250,000 on the button with pocket tens. Nissim Vaknin three-bet to 1,130,000 from the big blind before calling all-in when Kehoe shoved for 2,450,000 effective. Vaknin turned over pocket kings, which held on a queen-high board.

Kehoe was left with 38 big blinds after that hand, although he ended Day 4 with 3,125,000 chips, or 16 big blinds.

Doubling Through Eventual Runner-Up Benny Glaser

Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser at the 2022 WSOP

Day 5 started well for Kehoe after his ace-king got their against chip leader Benny Glaser‘s pocket tens. Any hopes of a comeback were dealt a blow in a battle of the blinds involving Soheb Porbandarwala, Kehoe’s king-deuce failing to hold against his opponent’s suited jack-ten. Kehoe resorted to raising 80% of his stack instead of moving all-in, and the strategy saw him start rebuilding his stack. However, during the 200,000/400,000/400,000a level, Kehoe raised to 5,300,000 from the button, leaving only 500,000 chips behind. Michael Rocco set Kehoe all-in, and Kehoe obliged with a call. Rocco showed a pair of black queens, and Kehoe king-jack. A queen on the flop gifted Rocco a set, leaving Kehoe drawing to a gutshot straight that never came. Kehoe bowed out in 14th place for $269,900.

Keho now has plans to feature in more $10,000 buy-in events, tournaments he wants to win his way into at WPT Global.

“You’ll see me playing more of the $10k buy-ins now,” Kehoe told the WPT Global blog. “I only played satellites on WPT Global but now I will be a regular player.”

Follow in Kehoe’s Footsteps With a Welcome Bonus Worth Up To $1,200!

Kehoe is living proof that satellite winners do go on and bank massive prizes in their target events. Why not attempt to follow in his footsteps and qualify for a major live event at WPT Global?

WLA Grants NeoGames Responsible Gaming Certification

WLA Grants NeoGames Responsible Gaming Certification

The Responsible Gaming (RG) certification secured by NeoGames confirms that the operator met the responsible gaming standards set by the WLA for providers of lottery services and solutions.

NeoGames Meets WLA RG Standards

Ultimately, the Association’s RG certification seeks to reduce the impact and risks of problem gambling. To complete the RG certification, the iLottery operations from NeoGames went through an assessment. The process was completed by an independent monitor who sought to determine whether the company’s operations comply fully with the WLA standards for responsible gambling.

The assessment was completed within multiple different verticals including the evaluation of advertising and marketing communications, employee programs and research. Service and product development, as well as reporting and remote gaming environments, were also probed as a part of the assessment. Finally, the independent evaluation concluded that NeoGames’ operations and platform comply fully with the RG framework set by the WLA.

The WLA is pleased to officially recognize NeoGames’ adherence to WLA Responsible Gaming Guidelines for suppliers, highlighting their corporate social responsibility practices and attesting that player protection is a core aspect of their operations.

Mélissa Azam, CSR senior manager at the World Lottery Association

Mélissa Azam, the World Lottery Association’s CSR senior manager, shared her excitement about the latest announcement. She revealed that the Association is delighted to see that NeoGames’ iLottery operations comply with the RG requirements for lottery operators. Finally, Azam said that the certification reaffirms the company’s commitment to protecting players and adhering to corporate social responsibility policies.

The Certification Brings Excitement to NeoGames

Moti Malul, NeoGames’ CEO, was similarly excited about the RG certification from the WLA. He pointed out that the certification confirms the company’s compliance with the industry standards that seek to safeguard the consumers. Finally, Malul said: “Responsible gaming is deeply rooted in every facet of NeoGames’ operations, from our products to our services and our employees, this certification confirms our continued commitment to being a responsible iLottery supplier.”

We are proud to have qualified for Responsible Gaming certification by the WLA, recognizing its importance to our customers and the demand for alignment with industry standards.

Moti Malul, CEO at NeoGames

The recent certification marks a major milestone for the company. What’s more, the announcement comes on the heels of major collaborations that helped expand NeoGames’ presence. Back in October, the company joined forces with BetMGM in Michigan. Expanding its presence in the US, NeoGames agreed to provide the betting and gaming brand with leading iGaming solutions.

PartyPoker Ontario Launches Richest-Ever Ontario Poker Championships

PartyPoker Ontario Launches Richest-Ever Ontario Poker Championships

PartyPoker has already established itself as one of the main players in the Ontario online poker market thanks, in part, some the incredible support shown by its players. PartyPoker Ontario is rewarding those players, and will likely attract thousands more, with the launch of the richest ever Ontario Poker Championships.

The inaugural Ontario Poker Championships took place last September as PartyPoker launched Canada’s most populous province. It is fair to say it was a roaring success, but the latest edition is set to blow it out of the water because PartyPoker Ontario is boosting the combined guarantees north of $600,000.

All monetary figures are Canadian dollars unless otherwise specified

The latest edition of the Ontario Poker Championships takes place between January 8-24, and is available to Ontarians with PartyPoker, bwin, and BetMGM Poker accounts due to that trio of online poker sites sharing liquidity. With 105 numbered events, most featuring low, medium, and high-stakes buy-in, the 2023 Ontario Poker Championships is PartyPoker Ontario’s most ambitious poker festival to date.

Buy-ins for Ontario Poker Championships events start at only $1.10 and increase to $530, with several options sandwiched between these two extremes. Satellites from a mere $0.01 are available, giving every PartyPoker Ontario player the opportunity to play in a prestigious tournament and, hopefully, give their bankrolls a significant boost.

Biggest Ever $55 Buy-in Event at PartyPoker Ontario

The festival kicks off in style with a trio of Opener events at 6:05 p.m. ET on January 8. The Openers come with buy-ins of $1.10, $5.50, and $55, and boast guarantees weighing in at $150, $1,000, and $10,000. That $10,000 guaranteed prize pool on the $55 buy-in The Opener is the largest guaranteed prize pool for a $55 buy-in tournament that PartyPoker Ontario has hosted.

Ontario’s poker-loving public is invited to test their skills across a range of poker formats and variants throughout the bustling schedule. No-Limit Hold’em tournaments dominate proceedings, but there are some Pot-Limit Omaha events sprinkled in for good measure. Ontario Poker Championship grinders get to lock horns with their fellow Ontarians at six-max, progressive knockout, deepstacks, turbos, hyper-turbos, and more for three weeks, all while vying for a slice of the combined guarantees on offer.

Three Ontario Poker Championships Main Events are the crown jewels of the series. All three Main Events are played as a progressive knockout (PKO), meaning you can win plenty of cash without having to reach the in-the-money stages. Bust an opponent and win a cash prize.

As with most of the other numbered tournaments, the Main Events come with three buy-ins: $3.30, $33, and $109. Guarantees for these tournaments tip the scales at $2,000, $20,000, and $50,000, respectively. Each features several starting flights with a single re-entry permitted. You can play in as many Main Event Day 1s, but only your largest stack goes through with you should you progress to Day 2 more than once. Reach Day 2, and you lock in a min-cash from the main prize pool in addition to any bounties you accumulate along the way.

First Look Games and RAW iGaming Put Pen to Paper for New Deal

Rush Street Adopts OPTX’s Player Development Solution

The “ultimate” iGaming marketing platform that allows game studios to get in touch with 800+ iGaming affiliates and more than 20 million global casino players has inked a new deal with the promising 2021-launched studio that creates highly innovative slots that stand out “in the sea of sameness”. Accordingly, RAW iGaming will enjoy more visibility and enhanced advertising for its slots by accessing First Look Games’ massive network of approved publishers.

Exposure to Over 20+ Million Global Players

Together, the network brings together over 20 million global casino players, with special emphasis on highly competitive regulated gaming markets in Europe and other parts of the world. In exchange, this will guarantee high levels of exposure for the provider known for its patent-pending Super Slice engine that relies on wheels instead of the standard reels.

By partnering with First Look Games, RAW iGaming will be able to share all information regarding its slot games. The list of assets will be hosted in a dedicated First Look Games library available to affiliates. The library will include images, logos, as well as videos of the respective games being played in real-time. Affiliates will get access to these assets in the library and easily download all the necessary information either in bulk or for each individual game.

First Look Games will enable RAW iGaming to use its Studio Management Center to efficiently manage all assets and game information while highlighting important exclusivity deals agreements as well as adding and removing jurisdictions for each game.

With the help of a series of dedicated compliance tools, First Look Games will make sure that all game reviews and any content generated and posted by affiliates will be 100% accurate and au pair with the industry’s responsible gaming requirements. Plus, by letting gaming studios decide what information should be shared with publishers, RAW iGaming will also enjoy enhanced control.

Leveraging the Power of Affiliate Marketing to Drive Awareness

First Look Games’ co-founder Tom Galanis acknowledged RAW iGaming’s “big splash” in the industry, adding that the new partnership should further help the studio harness the power of affiliate marketing to drive more awareness among an even larger number of players and gaming operators.

RAW iGaming’s chief executive officer Tom Wood explained the studio’s positioning as a “pink shark”, or “something completely new in an endless sea of similar games” that are being launched on a monthly basis. Wood also explained that the new deal would enable them to use the reach of 800+ affiliates to improve their promotional activities while introducing their fresh patent-pending, innovative slot mechanics. Last December, RAW iGaming announced it would supply NetBet, FullForce, and Infiniza with its innovative slot content.
