Introducing The Chad & Jesse Poker Show; Two Episodes a Week During 2023 WSOP

Introducing The Chad & Jesse Poker Show; Two Episodes a Week During 2023 WSOP

For the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP), PokerNews is excited to announce the launch of a new in-studio poker show that will air twice weekly throughout the summer. The Chad & Jesse Poker Show with hosts Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen will cover all the latest in the poker world, especially the biggest stories coming out of the 2023 WSOP, and offer interviews with some of the biggest names in the game.

Episodes are slated to release at 5 p.m. PDT every Tuesday and Friday throughout the 2023 WSOP, and for the inaugural episode, they sat down with WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.

The one-hour show is structed into three segments starting with Chad & Jesse having either an in-depth discussion or debate regarding whatever the biggest story is in the poker world. That will be followed by an interview with a special guest, and finally they will wrap with a “Calling the Clock” segment in which they offer quick two-minute dialogues for topics on “The Board.”

For example, the first episode saw the following topics on “The Board”:

  • Tropicana Poker Live Stream
  • Mystery Millions
  • Gladiators
  • HCL Million
  • One Drop
  • ST Satellites
  • WPT Final Tables
  • Solvers

Not only will The Chad & Jesse Poker Show be available in video format, but audio from the show will also run in an audio format via special episodes of the PokerNews Podcast.

“This summer marks my 15th consecutive WSOP, most of which have been with PokerNews,” said Holloway, who won the 2013 WSOP Event #1: $500 Casino Employee for a gold bracelet. “I’m honored to help launch a show not only with my name on it, but with that of my good friend Jesse Fullen, with whom I have hosted the PokerNews Podcast. We’re already busy lining up some big-name guests and hope you’ll join us for your WSOP fix.”

“This is my fifth WSOP working with PokerNews and I am so excited for this brand new show with one of my best friends,” Fullen added. “I’ve been playing poker since 2005 and watching every movie and televised poker content that I could find. I just love the game. My hope is that our show rises to the level that will bring other people in and love it too!”

Interestingly, Fullen, Holloway, and even Ty Stewart all jumped into the 2023 WSOP Event #1: $500 Casino Employee, which attracted 1,015 entries. Stewart busted shortly before the money, while both Chad & Jesse were among the 89 players to make it through to Day 2.

Holloway’s run on the 10th anniversary of his win came to an end in 60th place for $1,342, while Fullen did a bit better finishing in 33rd place for $2,029. Also, PokerNews Live Reporter Herbie Teope placed 58th for $1,342, and PokerNews Head of Content Yori Epskamp finished in 116th place for $876.

According to GiG’s official release, Group CEO Richard Brown has agreed with the company’s Board of Directors to resign from the position on the 31st of December 2023.

Strategic Review:

The agreement follows the Board’s strategic review carried out in February with an aim to optimize the Group’s operations. As a result of the review, the Board considers the GiG‘s restructuring as the best way to proceed. According to the company, the formation of two separate corporate groups will best fit in with with the corporate strategy. Indeed, the Board intends to split GiG into the GiG Media entity and the Platform & Sportsbook operations.

Two Entities:

The Board is reportedly satisfied with the progress of the strategic review that will enable each of the two new entities to completely focus on their respective activities simultaneously adding value to the entire corporation. GiG Media will reportedly continue operations under the same senior leadership while the Board has already started searching for the best match for the Platform & Sportsbook CEO position.

Smooth Transition:

Petter Nylander, Chairman of the Board of Directors, reportedly said:Richard has done a tremendous job with GiG over the years and the Company is in a very good position driving shareholder value going forward. We are pleased that Richard has agreed to stay until the end of the year to secure a smooth transition.

According to a source, Brown first joined GiG Media in 2017 to be promoted to the Group’s CEO in 2019. He has now agreed with the GiG Board to stay with the company until the end of the year to facilitate a seamless transition and alignment to the strategic review goals.

Richard Brown, CEO of GiG, added:It has been a true honor and privilege to be part of Gaming Innovation Group’s development over the past 8 years and the last 4 years as CEO, leading an incredible group of people towards, as I see it, the unparalleled strategic position across the B2B value chain that the group has created. I have no doubt that the teams throughout the organization and the management groups of the respective business units have the skills and passion to continue the growth of the business towards its financial and operational targets.”

Crystal Palace Becomes First EPL Team to Sign Gambling Partnership After the Announcement of Front-of-Shirt Ban

Crystal Palace corner flag

Crystal Palace is the first English Premier League (EPL) team to partner with a sportsbook operator since the recent announcement of the front-of-shirt gambling sponsorship ban.

logos on sleeves will still be permitted after the ban goes into effect

The London-based side will have Kaiyun Sports as a left-sleeve sponsor when the 2023-2024 EPL season begins in August. While clubs can no longer have a gambling sponsor on the front of shirts, logos on sleeves will still be permitted after the ban goes into effect before the 2026-2027 season. Experts believe the price that teams can command for these sleeve positions will soon rival what companies have been paying for front-of-short positions.

Kaiyun Sports is an Asia-focused online gambling operator. It plans to launch an online casino and sportsbook for people in the UK and has partnerships with other notable soccer teams, including Real Madrid.

Talking about the new agreement, Crystal Palace Chief Commercial Officer Barry Webber said: “As Asia’s largest digital sports platform, Kaiyun has a strong and consistent reputation for delivering sports and entertainment options for users.”

The 2023 PokerStars SCOOP Main Event Final Tables Are Set; Who Will Become a Millionaire?

2023 SCOOP

It is crunch time for the remaining players in the PokerStars Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) Main Events because the $109, $1,050, and $10,300 buy-in tournaments are down to their final tables. The fourth and final days take place on May 31, with the champion of the $10,300 SCOOP Main Event becoming a millionaire thanks to the $1,036,199 top prize.

Lithuania’s “Deiv4za” is the player in pole position going into the final table of the $10,300 SCOOP Main Event, although a Lithuanian victory is far from a foregone conclusion because their chip advantage is slight.

“Deiv4za” returns to the action armed with 28,115,781 chips, with Daniel “DaniC1994 Custodio in second place with 25,790,336 chips, and the Hungarian high-stakes genius Laszlo “omaha4rollz” Bujtas third with 24,865,780 betting tokens at his disposal.

Others to look out for in the PokerNews live reporting coverage include Felipe “lipe piv” Boianovsky (19,273,800), Paulo “paulinhoo00” Brombin (13,798,258). “hello_totti” (9,104,876), and the dangerous Estonian “DingeBrinker” (8,120,966).

Each of the nine finalists is guaranteed no less than $100,011 for their efforts, but with an eye-popping $1,036,200 up top, nobody will want to claim the lesser amount.

PokerNews‘ coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. ET on May 31 and continues until a champion is crowned. We cannot wait to discover who that millionaire champ will be.

Delgado Holds a Commanding Lead in the $1,050 SCOOP Main Event

Vicente Delgado
Vicente Delgado

Nothing in poker is certain, and countless players have been left with egg on their faces after counting their chickens before they’d hatched, but it would be fair to assume that the $1,050 SCOOP Main Event is Vicente “vicenfish” Delgado‘s to lose.

The Andorra-based Spaniard returns to the fray with 117,395,896 chips worth 147 big blinds, a stack double the size of any of the eight other finalists! Delgado finds himself in an incredible spot and has one hand on the title and the $600,639 payout that accompanies it.

The three players below the lofty Delgado are separated by a solitary big blind! “bombon73” (59,444,107), “rolandinjo” (58,912,234), and “Bretera” (58,061,369) are so tightly packed that a single blind steal could see one leapfrog the other.

Switzerland’s “FAPTOBblY_BACK” is the only finalist in immediate danger at the restart because their 4,732,736 stack is the equivalent of a mere six big blinds.

Play resumes at 12:30 p.m. ET on May 31, and PokerNews will bring you full coverage until Delgado or someone else banks that massive $600,639 top prize.

“PokerHorst” in Pole Position in the $109 SCOOP Main Event

It has been one hell of a grind for players in the $109 SCOOP Main Event. Some 22,663 PokerStars players entered the tournament with high hopes, but only nine of them still have chips in their possession.

Malta’s “PokerHorst” is the player to catch going into Day 4; they are one of two players with nine-figure stacks. “PokerHorst” leads courtesy of their 115,519,128 stack, closely followed by “Sodaski” of Ukraine, whose arsenal contains 105,717,836 chips.

Having smashed the $2 million guarantee by $266,300, this event’s final table awards no less than $15,503, which is quite ridiculous when one considers the tournament only cost $109 to enter. Anyone finishing in the top three pads their bankroll with at least $118,171, while the $109 SCOOP Main Event champion captures a $232,581 score.

PokerNews‘ coverage of this event resumes at 12:30 p.m. ET on May 31, so join us then for all of the action as it happens.

Scholomance Wins the 888poker XL Spring Series $200K Mystery Bounty

888poker XL Spring Series

Montenegro’s “Scholomance” is the latest 888poker player to become an XL Spring Series champion after coming out on top of the massive $200,000 guaranteed Mystery Bounty event.

A field of 971 players, which included 123 rebuys, fought it out for the lion’s share of the $200,000 prize pool. Day 1 saw the field whittled to the final table of nine, and it was “Scholomance” that bagged up the chip lead.

The tournament had already dished out its largest mystery bounty when “NoGanoUnFlip” pulled a bankroll-boosting $20,000 prize from a golden envelope before they busted.

$200,000 XL Spring #19 – Mystery Bounty Final Table Chip Counts

Place Player Country Bounties Chips Big Blinds
1 Scholomance Montenegro $755 2,676,602 45
2 Fishermanl95 Romania $940 2,211,290 37

5 Sim0nK Lithuania $2,266 1,684,552 28
6 jpgomides123 Brazil $970 1,642,328 27
7 Weezyspecs91 United Kingdom $940 1,121,111 19
8 Diguiry Brazil $755 870,116 15

<iframe src=”https://player.twitch.tv/?video=1833430263&parent=www.pokernews.com” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”true” scrolling=”no” height=”378″ width=”620″></iframe>

It took almost 15 minutes for the final table to lose its first player. Brazil’s “Diguiry” sat down with the shortest stack, and never managed to get going. They were down to less than five big blinds when they moved all-in with king-jack of hearts from the cutoff, and “Scholomance” looked them up from the small blind with pocket nines.

Seventh place went to “Sim0nK” who, like “Diguiry,” lost a crucial coinflip. “Sim0nk” got their last 12 big blinds into the middle of the table holding king-queen but couldn’t get there against the pocket eights of “jpgomides123.”

Win up to $10K Free With 888poker’s Card Strike Feature

The final six became five when “tehnats” ran into a monster. “tehnats” had previously pulled out a $6,000 mystery bounty, ran out of luck when they lost all but two big blinds with pocket jacks against the aces of “Weezyspecs91.” “tehnats” busted a short while later, with “Weezyspecs91” claiming the rest of their stack.

“FishermanI95” had been nursing a short stack for a while and kept finding themselves in situations where they couldn’t commit their chips. Such a spot presented itself when they found ace-ten of spades and pushed their stack into the middle. Unfortunately for them, “nuncanemvi” woke up with pocket aces, and had one of the easier calls of their career. Those aces held, and the player count was further reduced.

Despite winning those chips, “nuncanemvi” was the next player heading to the showers. They open-shoved for 12 big blinds with king-queen, but were in a whole world of pain when “Scholomance” instantly called with a pair of kings. The five community cards provided no drama, and “nuncanemvi” was gone.

888poker: The Biggest Differences Between Online and Live Poker

Heads-up was set after the untimely demise of “jpgomides123.” “Scholomance” moved all-in from the small blind with ace-seven of hearts, and “jpgomides123” called off their last three big blinds with jack-three of clubs. Ace-high would have been enough to win the pot, but “Scholomance” paired their ace on the river.

“Scholomance” held a chip lead over “Weezyspecs91” going into heads-up, and they never relinquished that advantage. The final hand saw “Scholomance” initially limp with pocket sevens but they then called a 12 big blind shove that “WeezySpecs91” made with queen-ten. The sevens remained true, and the $200,000 Mystery Bounty event had its champion!

Don’t Miss Out On The $500,000 Guaranteed XL Spring Main Event

All attention now turns to the massive $250 buy-in $500,000 guaranteed XL Spring Main Event, which is also played as a mystery bounty tournament.

There are 21 flights remaining between May 31 and June 5, with Day 2 shuffling up and dealing at 9:00 p.m. BST on June 5. Each of those Day 1s runs for 18 levels, or until only 14% of the field remains. Anyone with even a solitary chip in front of them at that time progresses to Day 2 with a min-cash in tow and with the chance to secure some mystery bounties. One of those mystery bounties should weigh in at around $50,000 if previous events are anything to go by!

The Exciting Era of Poker SNG Tables – Is it Over or Not?

The Exciting Era of Poker SNG Tables - Is it Over or Not?

We look at how poker Sit and Go tables have fared over the last few years. An iconic game for many poker players, but it might be on its last legs. Or is it?

Poker is a popular game, and various styles emerged over the years. Sit and Go poker, shortened to SNG, is one of those styles that took the online poker world by storm. However, the days of SNG tournaments could be over as notable poker brands start discontinuing the game. Join us as we look at the history of SNGs and how they fare.

What are SNGs?

Sit and Go tournaments are fast-paced poker games that start when a requisite number of players join the table. The number of players required can vary from single-player tables to 10-player tables. Single-table SNGs were the most traditional type and a favorite among players.

This popularity was because, unlike scheduled tournaments, you could play anytime and enjoy the same live poker stakes as in bigger games. You could start playing as soon as the preset number of people joined the table. These games have been around for more than two decades and have enjoyed a significant fan base.

Sit and Go Tables Today

SNGs began to fall out of favor with poker players. These days, many new and exciting poker varieties and tournaments are available. New bonus features, formats, and prizes become available, seemingly making traditional games like Sit and Go tables a thing of the past. Below, we look at where this game is today.

Waning Interest

The most significant indicator of the waning interest in SNGs is that 888poker recently removed this traditional game format from their offering. The reason for this was a lack of interest in the game from players, and it wasn’t worth it to keep it available anymore.

Current Types Available

However, not everything points towards this game becoming defunct. Instead, like many traditional poker games, it is evolving. GGPoker offers their iconic Spin and Gold tables, where you can turn $1 into $100,000, featuring the new 6-Max style. The buy-in ranges from $0.25 up to $200 and remains a popular addition to the site.

Another example is partypoker’s Daily SPINS leaderboard, where you can play SPINS or SPINS Ultra to receive points and climb the leaderboard. Both offers might not follow the traditional SNG format, but it’s based on it, which implies the game’s era isn’t over; it’s simply evolving.

Exclusive Offers

A significant reason the interest in these games has waned is that many brands have charged a high rake on low buy-ins. However, lottery-style SNGs are becoming more popular with their thrillingly fast gameplay. Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy these games. For example, RakeRace.com offers an $8,000 rake race for players who sign up at GGPoker through them.

If you prefer partypoker, then no worries because an incredible $12,000 rake race awaits you in the room. Besides that, Rakerace.com frequently provide exclusive rake races and chases, so try out their SNG-style games and see whether you believe the era is over or changing.

2023 WSOP Day 1: Big Guns Turn Out in Force the $25K High Roller; Razaei Leads

2023 WSOP Day 1: Big Guns Turn Out in Force the $25K High Roller; Razaei Leads

The wait is finally over; the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is underway at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas! It feels like it has been forever since the PokerNews Live Reporting team was last on the ground, bringing you all of the action from the WSOP, but here we are again, ready for another summer of incredible poker action.

Day 1 of the 2023 WSOP saw two events shuffle up and deal: the $500 Casino Employees event and the eagerly anticipated $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed. The $500 Casino Employees saw its 1,015-strong field whittled to a more manageable 89 over the course of 17 levels, while the $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed ended with only 65 of the 187 entrants in contention for a WSOP bracelet.

Daniel Rezaei Gets Off to a Flying Start in the $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed

Event #2: $25,000 High Roller 6-Handed is a new addition to the WSOP schedule, with last year’s equivalent played as an 8-handed tournament. Day 1 saw 187 entrants, including re-entries, enter the fray, although that number is set to increase because late registration remains open until the start of Day 2 on May 31.

As you would expect from such a prestigious tournament, dozens of elite-level players bought into the first big buy-in event of the summer. When the curtain came down on Day 1 proceedings, and the dust had settled, only 65 players had chips requiring bagging and tagging. Nobody crammed more betting tokens into the overnight bag than Austria’s Daniel Rezaei.

End of Day 1 Top 10 Chip Counts

Place Player Country Chips Big Blinds
1 Daniel Rezaei Austria 1,368,000 137
2 Justin Liberto United States 1,147,000 115
3 Brek Schutten United States 1,050,000 105

5 Brock Wilson United States 1,009,000 101
6 Keith Lehr United States 997,000 100
7 Bin Weng United States 975,000 98
8 Christopher Brewer United States 899,000 90
9 Bill Klein United States 888,000 89
10 Samuel Laskowitz United States 790,000 79

Rezaei finished Day 1 in the envious position of chip leader, having turned his 150,000 starting stack into a colossal pile worth 1,368,000, or 137 big blinds on Day 2 if you prefer. The Austrian built a substantial stack early into Day 1 and was propelled to the chip counts’ summit when he eliminated Shannon Shorr during the seventh level of the evening. Razaei turned a flush, which crushed Shorr’s middle pair. Shorr re-entered and finished with 304,000

Four other players return to their seats armed with seven-figure stacks. Justin Liberto (1,147,000), Brek Schutten (1,050,000), Sean Winter (1,047,000), and Brock Wilson (1,009,000) is that big stacked quartet.

Keith Lehr (997,000), Bin Weng (975,000), Christopher Brewer (899,000), Bill Klein (888,000), and Samuel Laskowitz (790,000) round out the current top ten.

Further down the chip counts, but still in with a shot of glory is a whole host of stellar names. Adrian Mateos (775,000) is lurking just outside the top ten, while Daniel Negreanu (610,000), on his second $25,000 bullet, is in the top 20.

Also still in the mix are such luminaries as reigning WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad (563,000), Kristen Foxen (411,000), Isaac Haxton (355,000), the legendary Phil Hellmuth (340,000), Brian Rast (230,000), and Justin Bonomo (228,000). Shaun Deeb (75,000) sits down on Day 2 with the shortest stack.

Play resumes at noon local time on May 31, and PokerNews will be on hand to bring you all of the action as it happens.

Event #1: $500 Casino Employees Day 1 is done and dusted. Some 1,015 players bought in, up from 832 last year, but only 89 will return for Day 2 on May 31. PokerNews‘ very own Jesse Fullen finds himself second in chips and with a realistic chance of having to work the rest of the series with a gold WSOP adorning his wrist.

You may recall that PokerNewsChad Holloway triumphed in this very event in 2013. Holloway is still in the mix in the 2023 edition, although his 211,000 stack places him 59th at the restart.

On the other hand, Fullen scooped a massive pot during the final level of the night, one that catapulted him toward the top of the chip counts. Fullen flopped a full house, eights full of threes, and eliminated Terra Dorvall, who held a pair of tens on the hole. The turn and river did not help Dorvell, and Fullen flew up the leaderboard.

Only Benson Tam (889,000) has more chips than Fullen right now.
